  1. Nobody, you don't win a fight about an opinion You lose an argument when you tell people you're more qualified than they are without having a clue as to their life experiences and then you misrepresent what they said and then, in my opinion, get extraordinarily condescending. Perfectly stated. I’ve coached linebackers & mostly inside linebackers for over a decade & was completely dumbfounded by the assessment of Martinez. Now granted, Martinez athletically or play style doesn’t jump off page.... but he is a very good linebacker. Now I will say I agree he isn’t elite at taking on & beating blocks. He just isn’t explosive or strong enough to be the imposing LB some want. He is a far better scrap linebacker vs a plunge linebacker. However, he isn’t some bum at it who can’t get off a block or take on guys at all. He’s just a natural Mike vs Sam backer. He is outstanding at getting reads & shooting the green to the ball (the lanes the naturally open between a defender & ball carrier). He is highly intelligent which to me is arguably one of most important qualities for a linebacker as it has ability to mask many other flaws they may have. When you can read what the play is & react correctly at the snap of ball you are at huge advantage. Instincts are so crucial for the position. He has outstanding motor with enough athleticism to close & make plays. He is leader of defense, makes all the calls, adjustments, and knows exactly where everyone needs to be. Pff had Martinez ranked 17th amongst linebackers in 2018 & top in NFC North (not saying too much however, North doesn’t have very many great ones) he is in no way a liability to this team & is a big part of our future success. He doesn’t need to be elite, a player who is almost always in right place at right time play after play is a huge asset. Problem is Packers don’t and haven’t had another linebacker to complement his skill set. Matthews was such a perfect match next to him but they didn’t stick with it. They had their explosive, mean, plunger and their Uber intelligent read & react scraper.
  2. Until early-mid May Coco was hitting .300 and playing great.... been brutal past few weeks and now hitting .182 in May. So that great start could easily lead to the blooming comment even though he has fallen off a cliff recently. Coco is good defensive SS & Brewers love versatility. Every report I have ever seen has had good things to say about Turang and him being an MLB SS. To me, just adding more versatility to his game & allow others to develop as well.
  3. This didn’t age well. Not well at all, hero of the night on both sides of the court
  4. Lopez Lopez Lopez! How big was he tonight! Helped carry us back. Brogdon gave us big spark early to keep us in it. Great to get game 1 locked away
  5. Over looking the 0-5 4K night from Ray... still like lineup a lot! Dubon, Stokes, Ray, Taylor, Erceg, Orf. Plus rotation is pretty solid. Huira was a big draw tjough
  6. Lutz now .239 & equal up to Payton Henry, yet another double. Kid is roasting in May!
  7. My guess with Lazar’s age, he will be a more mid season promotion are at least after Helena gets going with possible aggressive placements or quick promotions. Let him keep dominating & growing. Think Ashby would still be first followed by maybe Sunitsch when it’s time for Zavolas & Webb or File to go up. Both are older, college arms, and already played in Wisconsin last season
  8. I've been listening to more rap music since I'm starting to work out. Ordinarily don't like rap because of the content and language, but I like NF a lot, too. Really smart lyrics and clean. Propaganda is another guy you might want to check out. Witt Lowry & Ollie are two other ones I like who are similar. It’s completely coincidental they are all white rappers. They just rap in a style & lyrically that match things I can relate to. If I’m in rap mood I can still throw on J Cole, Lil Wayne (way he uses language is fascinating) Kendrick Lamar or Big Sean. Strongly dislike most rap my students listen to. Meaningless lyrics with big beats with small hook that plays over and over. My Spotify is just loaded with playlists from ton of genres ( I can’t have playlist that mix them, OCD that way) I go in big waves for week or two on a specific genre & then switch.
  9. I remember those days well. No clue what name was then. That was even before BrewCrewWS2008 (which I changed to when site changed platforms & I couldn’t get into old one or forgot info.) I always found it funny. Ben was getting pounded every outing and definition of AAAA pitch but dad wasn’t having any bad comments. He was more pleasant when Ben was a stud dominating in minors. Some articles are titled pretty good “Bad MLB Pitcher-Turned-Bad Accountant Fesses Up to Stealing $145,000 From Employer” Hard to believe he is 38 already, been on this site a long time. Think I came when he was at High Desert with guys like Krynzel, Hart, Hardy, Zoccolillo, Kade Johnson, Brad Nelson and JM Gold.... at least Hart & Hardy hit in that group. Zocc, Krynzel, and Nelson all earned looks. Power catcher Johnson think flamed our in AA & Gold.... well nothing Gold can stay as Ponyboy would say.
  10. Coolhandluke is right.... Hill’s 20 minutes of 6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal a game transformed our entire team from December to end of March. His plus/minus of 4 only had him behind Giannis, Bledsoe, Middleton, Lopez, and Brogdon. Those guys were only at 6 or greater. He is only 33 and best seasons are still ahead of him! Basic stats & sarcasm aside. Hill was our top defender with a 98 drating which is great. However is offensive rating is inline with Snell, Sterling, Wilson at 107... Our big 5 all between 112-114 rating. Net rating again he is solid with 8.8 but our whole big 5 is over 10.0. His true shooting of 53% is nearly 10% less than Brogdon & Lopez and still behind Middleton. His usage is only 13.8. I will not discredit the value Hill has brought to team. He is a strong vet leader who is competitive and has been here before. He is solid on offense and great defender. He helps our bench play at level it does. However.... it is short sighted and simply oozing over his performance in playoffs that leads to analysis of how important he is to future. Realistically he is just a good, older vet, who helps our bench. I like Hill but don’t think he is above critical core pieces. Malcolm is 7 years younger, better offensively, and not too far behind defensively. Middleton may not be a Max player but he is very good for this team and what we need of him. He’s a borderline all-star who can shot. With Giannis & Bledsoe attacking, a reliable scorer who plays good D is important. Unless you are getting Klay (not happening, coming to NBA he voiced how much he didn’t want to come here) Middleton is important. Lopez you can’t replace easily. Think he is unsung hero who made this season possible. He spaced floor well, hit ton of 3s. Very effective in pick and role win Giannis. That is all awesome but his defense and how he has anchored our team all year is key. I personally think Malcolm is more important than Middleton simply because he is more complete. He can shoot, drive, play D, doesn’t turn ball over, is smart and a leader. With a system like Bud those are all key. I don’t think he can score like Middleton but just offers more to team. Lopez Brogdon Middleton Mirotic Hill
  11. Wow! Was not expecting Gatewood back so soon! Nice to see him start it off with a HR! Glad he is back! Lutz stays hot, Kid just hates hitting in April. He his becoming Aramis Ramirez like. Slow starter but gets going pretty good after. We need him to take off as a prospect. Our system needs the young guys like him start to rise up prospect ranks.
  12. Really you bring in Crabtree to play slot. He is exactly what LaFluer is looking for in the slot. Big (6’1 215), very intelligent & skilled route runner, doesn’t need to be burner (4.6 type speed), reliable hands. They are banking on Allison to be that guy from article I read yesterday along with Adams getting time in slot as well. Crabtree would be solid backup option
  13. Most examples was the old inter league schedule. Brewers would bring up Prince & other top bats so the could DH for a week or two. Since inter-league is now year round & spread out, teams don’t usually do it anymore. Injuries tend to be only time a top prospect is called up with intent to go back down.
  14. At end of day you need to bring in talent. His classes have not been good. Of guys he has brought in has head coach haven’t really shined too much. 2016 class has Trice & Ford. Trice is leader of Team next year. Ford has been very eh. 2017 class has potential to do well with Davidson proving himself, Reuvers making strides but in shadow of Happ, and King 2018 class.... well that’s just a joke... Strickland & Currie both have transferred out and Hedstrom is big guy you hope can be productive 2019 class Only Tyler Wahl who isn’t a big name & a transfer from Ohio St. Micah Potter. He started 16 games & played in 56 averaging 4 points and 3 boards. I assume he plays big role next year. How impactful is the question. Walk ons and Trevor Anderson make most of the rest of Gard’s recruits. I will never cheer for them to fail but they are not a fun or exciting team to watch or follow right now. System & coaching will keep the competitive enough to be relevant but they are not making a run anytime soon of this course. We are hoping for Hauser’s & Johnson but have to accept fact that it is very possible we won’t win recruiting battle for them. Reuvers Potter King Trice Davidson That is solid competitive starting 5 but not world shattering... bench and depth is not a strength. Pritzl, Ford, and Anderson then....
  15. I’m big into Mumford & Sons. Their latest album I like, has moved more away from folk sound a bit to more Coldplay like. However, Judah & the Lion is very interesting band if you like old Mumford. They do really good job mixing it up and have just a different sound. New album just came out. If you don’t like that kind of sound with the banjo & mandarin mixed in probably avoid. For both I prefer studio or acoustic sets on YouTube that gets ride of the radio sounds & you can enjoy their talents as musicians more. Stapleton his outstanding! True musician with great sound that has been lost with pop country taking over the genre. NF is a rapper that I really like. Has that Eminem fire and passion but very good lyrics & purpose to songs unlike most of new rap that is repeating same lines that mean nothing of value to 99% of the population but have catchy beats.
  16. Houser’s and then Johnson brothers are must for Gard. Team is going to take a big dive if not. They need in state stars to see that it’s a legit option for them.
  17. Is it just me or does Zavolos kind of look like a mix of Ryan Braun & Dennis Sarfate in their old minor league team pictures? Weird observation
  18. Great to see Lutz adjusting! Been pretty good so far in May! Feliciano is up to 6 HRs now & bat has been what we hoped for when drafted.
  19. Disappointed, Lazar absolutely screams a Clancy type pitcher but haven’t seen much hype on him at all yet. Kid should be getting Roegnar type love! Young for level. Walks no one. Hard to hit. Racks up Ks like an animal. Very few runs against. Despite being a soft tosser he seems to be much closer to a young Fiers. Able to be deceptive, locate, and mix pitches well.
  20. I thought about Crabtree other day. Think Packers just prefer to go with young WRs though. Crabtree offers a solid & reliable possession WR. Not explosive but great route runner & hands to pick up first downs. Another veteran leader who is reliable is never a bad thing but not a high end add. Safer than St. Brown, MVS, Moore, Kunerow and even to Allison but doesn’t offer possible ceiling of the young core.
  21. Hopefully we get Raptors. I remember NBAs biased actions in game 6 oh to well vs Sixers. Refs just giving them the NBA Finals for higher ratings. Worst ref’d game I have yet to see. Think Giannis & Bucks defense can slow Leonard from his torrid ways he has been on this playoffs. Think 76ers have the more scary lineup. Bucks have handled Raptors far better this year than any year in past. Bucks just have more complete team than them.
  22. Feliciano is extremely young & talented. Fry is an older clubhouse leader and solid bat. Brewers (imo) will not move a young kid like Mario when he has shown great growth just to make room for an older less upside guy to take his place. Not a knock on Fry but just doesn’t make sense. Feliciano’s Stock will always be higher at catcher. You can build up his versatility but his bat plays higher there.
  23. Brewers are 1/2 game out of first and 6 games over .500 in early May despite the toughest schedule in league and leading league in runs against! Imagine if what this team can do if pitching continues when they hit June/July schedule!
  24. Wouldn’t be too sad to see Shaw end up on “Injuried List” to get some time off. Clear his head & fix garbage swing. Plus Hiura gets to come up which makes it an even bigger win. Slide Moose back to 3B. This is the Shaw Boston saw in that 2nd half of season that inspired them to just throw him into the Thornburg trade. He has potential to bounce back again & be as productive as he was in 2017 or even 2018 which was okay but when winning matters, hard to just bit the bullet & continue to let a guy bring you down. With Hiura & Erceg in the wings, Shaw needs to figure it out or he will be on the move. If it wasn’t so much more expensive I’d much rather have Moose locked up & part of this team as 3B moving forward. Shaw is still cheaper & controllable which makes it very unlikely Brewers resign Moose to longer deal & trade Shaw. They could platoon Shaw at 1b as well next year with the other blackhole of a bat in our lineup so far this season & keep both. I just have way more faith in Moose. Even when he is slumping he isn’t terrible. He’s just kind of very steady. When Shaw slumps, he is just brutal & hard to watch.
  25. This what I’ve been hoping for. I wanted to see him walk more & K less prefer they even thought about calling him up. With Shaw useless right now, to bad Huira can’t come up. Him at 2B & Moose at 3B could really help offense. Really can’t produce any less than Shaw right now
