  1. Lazar is dealing. Was hoping velocity was higher. Hadn’t seen many reports on it. Looks to be another good crafty finesse pitcher.
  2. My debate is what to do with Nelson when he is back. Do you put him in rotation on strict pitch count & let him go 4-5 innings with Davies adding another long arm (don’t see them moving one of 3 young guys out) to help piggy back him. Or do you put him in bullpen & use him to cover 2-3 innings multiple times a week. Let him settle back in. Easy to manage innings. Gives us another power arm in pen who could fill huge role down stretch if he finds it. Then in 2020 he gets ready for 2020 rotation. Either way will work and be good for us. That’s just my big curiosity of how CC and DS will fit him in when he is ready
  3. Think this is something that will work itself out as the year goes on. I think at this stage Taylor is more prepared to help as a serviceable guy in the outfield. He doesn’t have the flash, power, and ceiling of Ray but he has less work to do in order to produce at MLB level. Ray has more to prove in terms of ability to make contact. On a competitive team like this, I want to go with a guy who has better chance to give good at bats and put ball in play. Narrative can change if Ray gets hot, hes taking walks like he did in game 1, and his K% is much improved. Ray has the ceiling to be electric! Just not ready to be impact right now
  4. I’ve always liked Rock. Maybe it’s just the bias stemming from him being the guy I have listened to almost my entire life as a Brewer fan (think he started when I was around 6 in earlier 90s). Same as with the Bucks for longest time. Year in & year out, they just become part of being a fan of that team. Of course he is not Smoltz up there but does really good job. Finding a Smoltz or Romo type broadcaster who can call pitch or plays consistently before they happen is awesome but those types are unicorns & why they get paid massive salaries. I think Brewers are in good hands. Rock is good. BA is highly regarded nationally. Lepay is just as enjoyable during Brewer games as he is during Badger games. Really surprised Cirillo didn’t stick with broadcasting. Thought he was very good! He has turned more to scouting & coaching since
  5. Have a feeling a whole lot of Segovia post will soon be coming back again soon..... kid does have a great hit tool though. Always has
  6. Sunitsch I’m interested to see how he does. I’m not overly high on him. His results last year were not all that impressive. Low K, command was okay. FIP was 4.8 in Helena & still only 3.6 in small sample at Wisconsin. 17%K & 9% BB in Helena 15% K & 6% BB in Wisconsin He’s a low slot lefty who pitches about 90 but has ability to hit spots & work up in zone limiting hard contact. Ashby I think fits in with Woodruff, Peralta, Burnes. He has good power & just flithy. Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta all had high K rates & dominated hitters. Sunitsch & Roegnar are command pitchers. Soft tossers, some deceptions, and smart. Think it’s more fair to say they are much closer to Suter & Davies. Not a bad thing. They are effective but not the dominate type arms the 3 in are rotation are. I think you always have to look at pitchers styles & skill sets when projecting them. Many ways to be effective pitcher & get outs in bigs. Roegner & Sunitsch will do it more in the crafty way Davies Suter do. Not the wow the hitters & fans with power and/or filth stuff.
  7. CC gave us the most exciting half season the franchise may have ever seen except maybe until Yelich last season. As a Brewer fan, I have never witnessed such a brilliant stretch of pure dominance from a pitcher. He electrified the team & fanbase while carry us to post season. Greinke was an Ace we hadn’t had for a full season since Sheets & played major role in playoff run. Marcum was a great Robin to him until playoff time. Those moves were huge for this team & did more for use than what keeping those guys would have. Brantley has been solid OF but he wasn’t going to carry us to playoffs. Odorizzi has been solid middle rotation guy but has never carried a staff or sniffed an all star level season. Lawrie has his moments but didn’t pan out to be star we thought he could be when younger. Escobar never grew at plate outside of one season. Laporta flamed out quick. Jeffress was not good any time he has been outside of Milwaukee. Cain I think became only one that may have hurt but Gomez starred for us & we had Braun & Hart at time... he was expandable. None of guys we lost didn’t hurt us. All they did was cost us possible trades later. Juice worth the squeeze
  8. Toss up. Think Biloxi is going to have their first none fun year to follow. Love the starting rotation but bats are VERY unexciting. Carolina’s are very blah but love catching duo. Lutz is arguably my favorite prospect. Segovia & Clark each have 1-2 standout tools (Segovia hit tool, Clark’s power & speed) make them worth following. Silva could really sneak up on people. Everything outside of Bb% was outstanding. If he can jump that to around 10%, he could be in running with Roegner for Clancy’s #1 prospect. Low K, big power, real good average. Older but 140+ wRC in Helena & Wisconsin. At least San Antonio will be exciting. Wisconsin will have growing pains but always fun watching & following young talented kids. Rookie teams should be loaded.... all 3 of them after draft
  9. Given the way the Brewers often shuttle relievers up and down I doubt super 2 is even a consideration, especially with Perdomo. While both are intriguing, I think they'd probably have to leapfrog Houser, Brown, Petricka, Fields, Sanchez and possibly Olczak at least in the pecking order, plus possibly one of the current starters if Nelson takes one of those spots. Perdomo is my sleeper pick to be called up, left handers that throw mid to upper 90s can do some leapfrogging. Velocity is nice but need production & openings QTC I thought shoulda got a look last year prior to Sept. Tommy John. Dominant lefty bullpen arm but with Hader & Jennings staying healthy. Never got a look. Claudio & Hader are the two this year to block a Perdomo I’d think. Not many times teams like to have 3 lefties
  10. While some arms I was hoping to see didn’t make team, nice to see some of these you kids make it. Lazar has an outstanding spring from the updates I was seeing from BrewersPD. He was listed aft every start pretty much & was raking up ks. Olson was intriguing pick and look forward to him. Bullock with Lazar is another prep arm who has passed up higher pick Lemons from that draft. Hill was traded for, Salaman had real good season last year. Clearly Ashby is staff Ace we all are dying to see. For Clancy I must mention his guy Sunitsch as well. The bats. Fry is the older leader type who will handle young staff but has loud bat.Diaz fits that mold as well. Hoped Gray would shine enough in spring but Abreau, Ward, Castillo, and Lujano is nice young OF. McClanahan & Garcia are the two who need to make the year to jump for this team to really role. Both have great potential. Coco and Pinero are still decent prospects. Turang is the star though to follow. Prediction While Ashby stars, Lazar becomes a much bigger name & climbs prospect list. Same goes for Turang being the star but Ward continues to grow as player & takes another nice jump. Garcia adjusts & gets back to player I was so excited for. Hits for good average, power, and lives on base again.
  11. Arms don’t excite me too much to start years but some solid guys there. Most interested in Zavolas & Francis. File & Taugner have been solid. Meister has big arm. Hintzen with aggressive placement so look forward to see what he can do. Bats excite me more with the two catchers. It’s like having Salome & Lucroy together so be interesting to see how playing time is split up. DH & maybe Feliciano getting some reps at another position to add versatility? Lutz is the other big one. Silva & Clark are players I like. Silva was great last year. Clark in the 60% of ABs he doesn’t K... he can absolutely smoke the ball. If only he can get to the 25-30% K% he could take next step.
  12. This is a championship run type of team that should be a really good follow! Lot of prospects & guys fighting for chance to get back to bigs.
  13. Good rotation but Grisham, McDowell, Wilson, Aviles Jr are only bats I really follow much Webb, Supek, Diplan, Williams, Perdomo, Jankins gives some high quality arms to start
  14. Also depends on pitch you are throwing and what you want pitch to do. Outliers are most effective. Fastball is a backspin pitch. On fastballs more spin equals more rise. Less spin equals more sink & dive. If you are a K pitcher, you want high spin. Mix that with high velocity, fastball is extremely tough to hit. It’s on hitters quick & with launch angle swings of today, very hard to make contact. Low spin causes many ground balls Curve harder to pinpoint because so many types but more spin traditionally means more effective. Depth and amount of movement is most important. Kershaw spins in at a solid 2,400rpm but drops an outraged amount. Like 9 inches on average. Change & splitters are opposite of fastball and usually more effective with less spin. It’s a newer science & statistics are building around it so not 100% in telling effectiveness. Fastball I think is the most sound one to look at. 96 and high spin like what Burnes threw.... hitters will struggle all season with that if it continues. Velocity & Rise is just so deadly in today’s game. The Ichiro type level pro slap hitters are dying out as uppercut lift swings are all the rage. You can’t effectively lift a rising fastball higher in zone.
  15. I think pump the breaks a bit. Williams had a rough game Saturday but outside of walk, he was fine today. He has an explosive arm & is talented pitcher gaining experience. I don’t think Brown who has never pitched above AA is a quick fix. Come June... maybe. See how Williams does for more than a bad outing. Barnes... he’s not been useful since 2017 so think he is easily down when Jeffress comes back. Again we are 4 days into season. We are 3-1 with one bad pitching day across board pretty much. Williams with 2 hits, a walk, & 1 run in 2 innings isn’t amazing but not worth pulling plug on. I don’t see Cards fans wanting to replace Miller & Hicks who were both worse than him this series.
  16. Don’t sleep on Bush at 12! Gute skipped Clemson and other major pro days to go to Michigan. Gray didn’t participate & after huge combine Bush has worked way up. Doubt Gute picked that pro day over the likes of Clemson with 3 huge targets in top 15 just to see Chase Winovich as 2nd rounder. Clearly Packers had scouts at all the big ones but fact GM went there, leads me to believe Gray and/or Bush may be high on their list. Devin White is the dream MLB to go with Martinez but I really don’t think Bush is that far off.
  17. Been super high on Webb as well and throwing out Sheets Lite comments since drafted. His whole career is linked to if he can throw strikes consistently. If he can, he could special!
  18. It’d be a lot for sure. Would leave use with only 15 million or so to work with... more once Perry is hopefully cut. My guess they have eyes on a few defensive splashes that they did not want to invest so much in 1 WR.
  19. Sometimes you need to take that risk on a tool. 100 catches 1500 10TD average over 6 seasons is not to shabby. Put him with ARod & opposite of another WR who has become elite.... this is an explosive offense. Right now, You put extra man over Adams & you let rest of offense try to beat you. Jones, Williams, St Brown, MVS, Allison, Graham.... as a defensive coordinator in not too scared. Even if you draft a Fant & M. Brown... two very explosive options, hard to rely on a rookie success. That is why you risk a tool & money. I’m not angry about not landing him but think the reward tops risk considering what the deal was. Hopefully Packers find a way to improve certainty on offense. With no real proven #2 WR & FA/draft class not really all that impressive.... be interesting to see how off season plays out
  20. As said earlier, there was zero chance he’d be back & any talk they’d hold onto him was just sports talk to get leverage. The bridge didn’t need repairs, it was far past that. The bridge was burned to the ground. Now the deal they got for him?! Eek. Raiders loaded with high picks & best they could get was a 3rd & 5th? Think Packers will regret not doing this the same as not trading a 4th for Moss did. ARod will continue to have one true weapon in Adams & we will have to pray Graham re-emerges or a bunch of kids take giant leap. I think bring back Cobb would be smart considering I don’t think Humphries, Tate, Beasley, J Brown, Crowder are all that better of slot WRs.
  21. Along with Dee Ford. Having his OLB coach he is very close with & helped get most out of him doesn’t hurt. Nevermind Ford along with Clark, Clooney, and Lawrence all got Tagged today
  22. Along with Dee Ford. Having his OLB coach he is very close with & helped get most out of him doesn’t hurt.
  23. If you want a OT who fits the zone scheme (same installed in Tennessee) and is an outstanding pass blocker, Andre Dillard is the guy. Taylor is very good athlete as well & could be pretty good fit as well. Little has spent most of college underachieving or not being consistent. Ford, Williams, and Risner are all guys who many scouts think are very good inside guys at next level. Ford is the one I think sticks at tackle. Very good in zone scheme at UO. With the weak OL class, think you get the sure thing on defense at 12 when board is loaded & see what OL fall to 30. It’s very possible one of Dillard, Williams, Risner, or Ford are there at 30. Risner or Williams instantly solve our RG problem, maybe swing over to RT once Bulaga is gone. Cajuste of WVU & Scharping of NIU are true tackles from zone systems to target in 2nd round
  24. For options at 12? Nope I’m pretty high on a lot of guys who have chance to impact this team! Lol it is a deep draft at positions we need! At 12 I’d narrow it down to Sweat, White, and Wilkins. Hard not to love any of those 3! Later in 1st/2nd Adderley is a guy I want! Leadership, work ethic, and play all make him a great choice.
  25. Since I think our edge/OLB is already one of worse in league. Mix in Clay maybe not back. Perry should be cut with money being put to better use, & not sold on Gilbert or Fackrell as answer.... My dream is an EDGE guy. Some I’d be willing to move up for. Some gaining steam: Sweat with Senior Bowl then blowing up at Combine, Burns weight up to 250 & ran 4.57, and Gray could who ran a 4.59. At 6’4 277 he could be great as hybrid DE, OLB 1 Bosa 2 J Allen 3 Sweat 4 Gray 5 Ferrell 6 Burns 7 Polite Tier 2 8 Ferguson 9 Winovich 10 Ximines Draft is unpredictable. We have 2 QBs almost locks now in top 12 & still two more who could sneak in. Oliver, Williams are near locks then a guy like Lawerance or Wilkins could slip in to top 12. Some team could jump on DK Metcalf due to absolute freak potential. OLs like Taylor and J. Williams seem like Top 10 pick. Devin White & Hockenson also in running. I think there are 7 worthy Edge guys for pick 12. At least 2 (Burns & Polite) should make it to us. If not still strong options. Off board by 12 for sure: (IMO) Murray Bosa Allen Q Williams Haskins Gray Oliver Hard to see any of those guys drop... leaves a lot of options though. MLB Devin White could give us a legit stud at MLB. Him & Martinez make that a big strength for our Defense. OL Jonah Williams could be above average RT or All Pro guard, J. Taylor gives us a really good RT (slide Bulaga inside) DL Christian Wilkins gets overlooked & shouldnt. At 6’4 315 & freak athlete, mixed with Clark & Daniels, we have a dangerous front who can get after a QB. TE Hockenson I haven’t been sold on yet for all hype (prefer Fant or to wait til 2nd or later to take advantage of loaded class. However, if he is as good as people say. A great TE is never bad to have.
