  1. Zunino was rushed. He struggled in his 1st full season where they threw him in AAA. So instead of getting him right in AAA they called him up after 50 games and feed him to the sharks. He is a better hitter than what he has shown so far. His K's are troubling through. Needs to be coached...something Jack Z didn't value much. Is Peterson even a top 10 prospect for the Brewers. I almost have to slot him at like 12 or so, at best.
  2. For Lind it would be head up trade for Zunino. M's have told teams already he is unavailable. Not sure Lind is enough to get him away. DJ Peterson plus maybe a low level high ceiling type player is best case scenerio Same as above goes for Diaz. Overall, Lind has value but we are not going to bring in a truckload for him. Parra we thought would bring us multiple talented pieces and it got us 1 player in return who projects to be no more than a back end arm. We has fans overvalue a lot
  3. Kepler is an intriguing prospect, but do the Twins need a 1B with Mauer playing there? Forgot about he Korean player they signed. They do have Mauer. Lind would DH and give him breaks. However really don't see this happening anymore.
  4. If DS has Domingo Santana in his plans, he will make room for him to play outside of CF. Has anyone listen to anytime he answers a question about Domingo in CF? He sounds as optimistic about that as the Brewers winning a title this year. He will instantly say he is a RF then all but say he will not be in CF. DS will make trades to make the roster he feel is best for the team now and in the future. If he doesn't make room for Santana it is pretty clear he is not in the plans and is a trading piece.
  5. Lind to Twins for Kepler who can play 1B & all 3 OF spots..... Twins throw in another prospect.
  6. This is the Marlins telling the baseball world, he is not available unless you want to give up your entire future for him....for a young kid who is coming off TJ ha
  7. Twitter World is saying Dodgers would need to pay Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Urias, and two more for Jose Fernandez..... if true, I don't forsee any team getting him. I don't think there is a player in baseball outside of maybe Trout or Harper that I give up that kind of package for.
  8. I really fail to understand how it appears that DM is in control? All of his moves so far have been for DS's own type of players who are versatile and get on-base. He has yet to make a trade at the winter meetings. I don't get why it is so hard to understand why a GM would want to bring in someone who can play CF or 3B? Short term, long term...doesn't matter. If you want him to turn us into the 76ers and put no effort into constructing a real baseball team because we have Michael Reed who has like 8 big league at bats and wasn't that great in AAA, almost never has played CF. Wren who wasn't all that great in AAA. Phillips who has 3-4 months of AA ball under belt. There are guys you can get that you barely have to give up an assets for....we got Villar for a non asset in Sneed. Doesn't have to be a super star, just someone has ability to be an okay hitter who will play good defense for us, until someone proves they are ready to compete for a job. Santana is not a real option in CF for any GM or Manager who cares about putting a reasonable defense on the field. Santana in CF will open up the middle so much for offenses. Gaps will get big and be hit a lot by opposing teams. RF he is solid, he makes plays he needs to, is good enough athlete there. CF Kotsay is arguably better option. Let guys develop. Don't just grab them and pull them up because we are rebuilding anyways.....that is not how you develop prospects
  9. Escobar, Cain, Jeffress, Odorizzi for Grienke was a pretty package, this on has to be right up there. Blair at best will perform equally to Odorizzi. Cain I think is greater than Inciarte but he is still a very good ball player. Escobar/ Jeffress probably cancel out Dansby. Overall, man it at least interesting being a Braves fan right now. Not sure I love the all pitcher strategy they have had prior to this trade but they are aggressively rebuilding! Hope Stearns gets a house clearing offer for Lucroy like this one..... Gallo, Ortiz, Morgan....here we come!!! Atlanta really wants to bring back the 90's by building their own in house arm race....smart because once they fill out that rotation, the can unload rest of the log jam for bats. Miller is very talented, however by the time they are ready to compete, his 3 years will be up and he will be getting paid.
  10. Should kind of show us Segura market kind except Segura may have more value due to contract, similar performance....less hype follows Segura as compared to Castro as well
  11. Dansby Swanson & Aaron Blair on top of Enciarte.... That's a pretty good haul for Braves. Greinke & Miller is going to look nice though for DBacks and they have depth at OF
  12. Today is just annoying.... Seemed from yesterday it would be an action packed day..... Dead as can be though. They need to just toss us a few more rumors to discuss. If Lind is not gone tomorrow I'll start to worry that DS is going to dry up the market for him. If a dozen teams have called and discussed, you should be able to find a good deal in there somewhere. If you keep waiting and asking for more and more....market will dry up and shift to other options such as Moreland.
  13. I know he isn't a 1b or 3b but I personally take Astros left-hander Reymin Guduan if he is there. He has been bad. He is a low level, 5 ERA, Walk an inning type kid, however, it is easy to hide an arm in the bullpen on a bad team and when that kid is throwing 100+ from the left side....you just pray Johnson can harness him. Really there is no safe rule 5 selection. When you pick a guy, you are just hoping there is a chance they catch fire and catch on. I think the reward is greater than the risk when you are talking about that big of an arm talent. He is a Chapman with no control right now...get him to harness a little bit...watch out!
  14. He comes in as the #3 pick, dominates competition while flying up to AA in his first season. In 2013, his 2nd season, they start him in AAA, he struggles in his first 50 games so they promote him to the majors....Over matched. Next season in 2014 fairs better from a power standpoint but refused to walk and K'd an outrageous amount. 2015 he even declines more! He goes to the minors (AAA) for 10 games and smokes the ball. More proof that Jack Z was just terrible for this team! Why would you force him throught the system so fast? He couldn't hit in the first 2 months of AAA so you promote him for good to the MLB? All that said, I'd take a flyer on him as long as they give us someone else of worth for Lind. Potential is there, just needs some actual coaching and time.
  15. Lind is heating with around a dozen teams calling.....O's and Mariners are favorites as of now. Competition is good, hopefylly they don't wait too long where the market will collapse as team get other options instead. For Lind, my favorite prospects for O's outside of Bundy & Harvey to target are Cisco, Reyes, Mancini, Heim
  16. I don't even listen to Jays on Lucroy unless Sean Reid-Foley, Penecost, Vlad Jr/ Tellez/ or Conner Greene....Pompey wouldn't be a bad player to include to be our CF and future 4th OF. Greene is an interest prospect who has a lot of talent as both a player, actor, and model That may seem a lot for Toronto however, just before the deadline these guys were much further down the list. Not a fan of Jon Harris at all. For Segura...I'm not sure what is market really is. Maybe you could get Pompey and Tellez or Greene. That or maybe go head up for Penecost if you decide to deal Lucroy
  17. Think it depends. If you are trading for a possible young Parra who can start and be good in CF, play all 3 positions, and be a good #4 OF. That is not a bad trade. If Thompson or Powell look ready for MLB, both profile more as a 4th OF with upside down the road. I have no problem bring them in and helping team now. Once Phillips is ready, they slide to the Parra role. Give you a solid offensive and defensive option at all three spots
  18. When was he offered this extension? To my knowledge the Brewers haven't and aren't planning on extending him at market value despite Lucroy's rumored interests last spring. He wasn't, I was saying unless the DO offer him one, his value will be through the roof. He has way too much value with how productive and cheap he is. Now if the Brewers decided to extend him and pay him what he is worth, his value greatly reduces
  19. Santans is not very good in CF. Hecisnt slow but he doesn't make good reads, isn't a great athlete, really opens up the gaps for the offense. He makes the plays that he should, doesn't make much more than that..... Braun to 3B is as realistic as Brent Suter being our #2 prospect..... We tried Braun there, could have played a little leaguer there and been better off. However if Santana is good enough to be everyday CF....mid as well make your defense even worse with Braun at 3B. We all know bar is all that matters
  20. This is all being discussed over in the transaction forum. Nothing wrong with trying to have at least one person on the team who can at least sort of play CF close to average
  21. Garin is def worth it. We have no options at 3B really as of now. It is a Dominquez no risk, possible big reward. Why not gamble? Talent is there cheap.
  22. When I was going through every depth chart looking for CFs to target, If Bogg is ready now, I think he would be good guy to grab. If he's not ready though, we don't really need him in Colorado Springs competing for time with Phillips
  23. Doesn't matter if your going to lose 120 games. You still at least try to field a real team. Domingo is not good in CF. At least give our pitchers a chance to succeed with a reasonable defense. Really its like taking a career 3b and telling him to be your new SS. Who knows how much more time Maverick Phillips will need to be ready. Could be June, September, or next April. Need at least one person who can play CF til then
  24. Looking at teams, I'm targeting younger controllable guys who have chance to be average to above average CFs but are not maybe considered building blocks for future. Really keep seat warm for Maverick. They perform, they are good controllable trade pieces or Parra type 4th OFs. Pillar or Pompey (whoever they feel is not there future from Toronto Bogg Powell -Seattle. if they feel he is MLB ready Padres -Travis Jankowski White Sox- Trayce Thompson ( I know his bro said he thanks god every morning he wasn't drafted by the Bucks but I think Thompson could be a real nice stop gap, future 4th OF Yankees- Aaron Hicks (buried on depth chart) worth his upside has late bloomer Cards- Tommy Pham
  25. He wore out his welcome in Houston? He had like 37 ABs. He played well last year for us. Let's not panic over awful Winterball. Big issue is Santana is not a CF. plain & simple. We have no one else who is MLB ready at CF. DS cares at all about defense, a CF is needed. I don't believe it's because he is against Santana, Davis, Braun or anything....he just has a mind that understands the benefits to a roster of having an actual CF on the roster. Yeah if Santana Ks too much for DS, Gallo's should never be mentioned again for a trade to Brewers. We have to remember Santana will be 23 almost the whole season next year.
