  1. Lou Palmisano looked like a grand slam, can't miss guy at the low levels....then the Captain broke our hearts.....( he has bittered me on older prospects at lower levels forever, hence my pause from Leal and Demuth) I hope all works out great and am pulling for him. Just ask Mike Piazza whp was a 49th round pick as a family favor if it is possible to find some gems in the late rounds. He has with Demuth helped carry this team offensively, and think he has handled the young staff very well. Thought he had an outside shot to start year at BC with how much game time he had there this spring. Just shows how much the Brewers like him. Josh, how do you find players like him. You have a scouting department, do your own research, through connections and scouts tips? I was curious about that. Good find it appears though!
  2. So hard to see Dodgers giving him up but you never know, if, if they are making a push and Lucroy is back on All-Star MVP type track, could happen. Urias or Seager could possibly be had. Arm talents like Urias don't come often however.
  3. Sell off this season, be bottom feeders, receive Riley Pint for your suffering....sounds good to me. Milwaukee is the Brew city, We are the Brewers, and we play at Miller Park, and we get to build our franchise around a kid with the last name Pint...seems like a perfect fit! Biggest thing we need is a future ace for Gomez or Lucroy and we can't afford to miss. Hopefully get a great arm for both. I think if we can get two big arms to go with Jimmy and Wily, that is a good start.
  4. Another Biloxi SP goes yard! Tyler Wagner! Wish Brewers starting line up could get at least the production of Biloxi's pitching staff at the plate.....
  5. Brewers are in the situation they have been in not because they can't develop offensive talent cause they have. Issue is like you said, they miss so much on pitchers it's unreal. They simply can't develop them. Killed me to shallow losing Odorizzi, he may be the best pitcher he have had in our system in last decade.... Not saying much... Honestly, if we were to make a top 5 list over the past 15 years of pitchers developed by use it'd be 1) Sheets 2) Gallardo Then... Manny Parra? if we wouldn't have lost his head and confidence he could have been great, however, he never overcame the mental aspect. 5yr 172g/74gs 513ip 26-33 5.12era/4.34fip Zack Braddock- could never master mental aspect as well however, sadly being bi-polar makes that difficult. 2yrs 71g 51ip 1-3 4.41era/ 3.51 fip 30/59 Carlos Villanueva 5yrs 240g 27gs 425ip 20-24 4.34 era/4.43 fip 151bb/381k Dana Eveland 36 games 5 starts 1-4 in 59.1ip 6.98 era /4.56 fip 33bb/55k Jorge De la Rosa 3yrs 61g/8gs 95.1ip 6.23era/4.64fip 74bb/78k Ben Hendrickson 2yrs 10g/9gs 58.1 ip 1-10 7.41 ip/4.83fip 29bb/37k Nick Neugebauer 2 yrs 14gs 61.1ip 4.99era/ 5.86fip 50bb/58k Then Peralta, Jeffress, Nelson, Fiers
  6. I strongly disagree there is no one to be excited about, Arcia will be 20 all season in AA and is emerging as a top SS prospect in all of baseball. Defense of Alcides with a better bat IMO. Not to mention he walks and hates to strikeout Coulter is a monster bat in the making potentially. 21 and continuing to grow as a hitter. He walks at a good share, has monster power. Driving balls out in left at space coast is no easy task and he is making it seem easy. Kodi's debut he was on his way to a no no and outside of 1-2 down innings he's been electric. The name Gilbert Lara just sounds like Miguel Cabrera to me.... There is plenty to be excited for, just not knocking on door yet or to soon outside of a few
  7. Yeah major leagues there isn't much to work with and most guys on the farm aren't can't miss guys.... At least not yet. Jimmy and Wily are solid building blocks for the rotation during the rebuild. Neither are can miss Aces but both are very nice #2-#3 type guys for us. We have no frontline arms in the minors as of right now at least that has experience to generate hype. Hopefully Medorios develops into that guy. I see both Williams topping out where Peralta and Nelson will/are. I don't see an Ace yet in the making anywhere. I think for right price you can trade Smith, Jeffress, Knuebel but they are a young solid cheap core of back end of bullpen guys. In all honesty Coulter and Arcia are the only two guys right now who are showing that they are a big part of future. I feel by seasons end, both could be top 50 prospects. Everyone else is just too young to gage. Guys like Taylor and Sardinas are solid guys who I think can contribute but not that top level, franchise type players I think Arcia and Coulter can be
  8. With all the talk of rebuilding, I think it important we discuss who is the new "core" or the Milwaukee Brewers? In team now or in the farm system, who is the future and the untouchables. During a true tear down and rebuild, you have to be willing to make difficult trades as long as you deem a player is not in the long term future plans of the team. To me personally the untouchable core to build our future around is Starting Pitchers Jimmy Nelson Wily Peralta RP Will Smith Jermey Jeffress Corey Knuebel Position *Jean Sergura (If they plan to move him to 2B or maybe even 3b) Honestly our best leverage to bring in talent is Lucroy and Gomez due to them being cheap All-Stars with time left on contract. Braun is not really in the long term future plans if he can get hot and bring value u back to us. Khris Davis and Scooter are place holders, I don't think they are our best options to build around. Most of our pen I don't mind us moving on from if we can get value for. In our system our future Core of most untouchable has to be: Orlando Arcia Clint Coulter Tyrone Taylor Taylor Williams Monte Harrison Devin Williams Kodi Medories Jake Gatewood Gilbert Lara Luis Sardinas if they don't keep segura to play 2B What you guys think?
  9. I have no problem with Coulter staying down. My issue is Roache who I felt didn't deserve to be held back in first place. Simply by moving up and out of such an unfriendly offensive atmosphere, he'd improve. He is 23 already and doesn't need to be babied like a young 19/20 year old kid. He should be put back on track as a prospect. He should be there no later than early June. Coulter I don't mind. He is behind Roache in promotion pecking order to begin with. He needs to sustain this success and continue to build his confidence. He is young at level so no need to move him quick. However, nationally, a promotion to AA could put him into top 75 prospects if not higher. Young guys who move quick and earn promotions receive more love in rankings (which I'm sure crew doesn't care about)
  10. Coulter and Roache are hitting like this in maybe the most unfriendly hitters league/park..... Image what they could do in Biloxi! Roache needs to move up, he was held back & I think he has shown enough. Wren can move up and play in the not that great AAA OF.
  11. I'm just confused with the plans for these guys, clearly Arcia is SS of future. Leaving Gennett, Segura, Sardinas, Rivera & McFarland to fight over 2B and utility roles. (Unless Segura or 1 of them go to 3b and Brewers give up power for a OBP and defensive guy) Coulter is a monster now he is healthy, if he got to Biloxi by All-Star week, national scouting sites will really buy in and we will see him popping up in Top 100s. I can see Arcia a top 30 by seasons end. Don't look now by Tyrone Taylor is starting to hit now to! Mix in Roache hitting like he is upset about being held back! Exciting stuff! Wisconsin and MWL is so tough on hitters traditionally in April and this team is so young that by time June comes around they will be turning things around and playing closer to their skill set. Look at Coulter to, he struggled bad his first go, now look at him. So if they don't figure it out, they still have bright futures!
  12. Don't quote me but before tonight I think Coulters past 5 games topped Brewers offense (over previous 5) in hits, RBIs, runs and HRS Btw, he has been unleased and it won't be long before he jumps Taylor for #2. He is our most dangerous/impact young bat. Best part is he walks and hits for solid average.
  13. Brooks Hall, he is healthy and a prospect again in my opinion. They need some room in Colorado for him.
  14. Personally I'd love to see DeAndre Jordan. Beast on defense, not an offensive treat but with Parker back, Giannis continuing to grow as a score with Middleton and MCW both having ability to take over games on a good night, there center doesn't need to be too offensive minded. I don't see much chance of Gasol, Jefferson, Chandler coming to Milwaukee. Hilbert is a 7'2 guy who rebounds like a 6'7 undersized PF. Brook Lopez is realistic if him and Kidd had a strong relationship. He is the offensive threat people would want at 5. he averages 20.6 ppg however of course the trade off is rebounding. Enis and Vucevic are restricted FA's Robin Lopez is so so and Asik is blah It will be interesting to see how they construct this roster for next season.
  15. Wes Helms has to be one of my least favorite Brewers of all time. I just hated watching him play.
  16. ^ This I love the Brewers, I can list stats upon stats, and scouting reports for most of their minor league systems however I don't take sports personally...they are a hobby I enjoy. I feel zero need for me to boo, insult, or rag on any players when I go to a game. There are players I strongly dislike on the team due to performance or playing style (such as a Marco Estrada) but I'd never stand up and boo them. That nor will I ever be an overreact and be a "FIRE RRR, FIRE MELVIN, ETC type fan constantly. I never put all my hopes and dreams on the Brewers winning World Series. If they make a run AWESOME! If not, I lose no sleep and I'll still go to games and watch them on TV. I personally like rebuilding and youth movements. I think its so fun to watch young guys come up and grow! Winning is just a fun product of doing it correct.
  17. No one ever mentions Michael Reed. He has been over shadowed by Tyrone Taylor, Orlando Arcia, and Victor Roache his A ball but if he could just increase his power he is a guy cable of playing 3 spots well in the OF, Speed to burn on the bases, walks a ton, and hits for good average.
  18. I really think he'll be our 3b of the future. He'll hit but not for power , could be a really good 2 hole hitter I'd like to see a 23/24 year old hit outside of low A ball before I think of them as the future but hopefully he can develop. I see him more maxing out like Taylor Green
  19. It is always a tough adjustment in April for these kids. I bet that many of them are just pressing right now too much. I rather have them aggressive and pushing these kids than going back too the days where they held them all back in extended spring training while filling the team of all 23-25 year old guys. Winning doesn't matter at all as long as they are growing and improving. Struggles will happen and if they can't snap out of it they go down to Helena in June. Like Mass said, I think if they can just put together one big outing with the bats that could relax them and get them going. I hope not to many people had high expectations that after the first week or two all these kids would be thriving already. Erickson is a great manager, he'll coach these kids up.
  20. As crazy as he may drive us at times, he also makes us cheer just as much. He airmails a throw one play, next he is going over the wall to save a homerun or gunning down a guy at 2nd/3rd. He gets pickoff foolishly, he steals a critical base for us. He tries to take an extra base when he probably should,....he wins us a game by doing it. Gomez has a 16.2 WAR over the last three seasons and 13.2 in his last 2 all-star seasons. For every time he gives you a reason to pull out your hair, he gives you 1 or 2 more to stand up a cheer like a high school girl over. That his game. He is all or nothing, all out, energy source of this team. Now that is good and bad because he can sink the team or spark the team. I for one will take a guy like him over most other options. He is the Brewers version of Brett Favre. He will drive you nuts! But sometimes players like that are worth it....not to mention just exciting to watch.
  21. Didn't really expect him to be a gold glover out there, still new to him. His bat can play anywhere so like said, 1b is always an option. I think he will be fine out there. He has a big arm, is a solid athlete, just needs to learn how to read the ball off the bat
  22. I put it at a 1% chance he is the DSL, they have him stateside, he did great in fall instructionals, he hit well this spring, his body is incredible advanced for his age, and he won't be challenged at all in the DSL. Him going over there to just mash isn't helping him develop
  23. Ironically Scooter was ejected tonight for similar thing
  24. Wang is rolling and McFarland is cementing himself as top 2b prospect that made me so excited when we signed him away from Rice!
  25. When judging prospects I like to look at age. For AAA I think 24-25 year old season is the median age for a prospect. I like prospects to be between 22-24 at this level to rate them higher. Once you get to that 25-27 level, your getting pretty old for prospect status. Ideally you think a MLB player should enter the league by 24-26 on average. Looking at the age for Colorado Springs players: Pitching 1991 Knebel - November (23 all) 1990 Gagnon - June (24-25) Bradley - June (24-25) 1989 Jungmann -December (25 all) Cravy - July (25 most) Pena - May (26 most) Position Prospects 1993 Sardinas - May (22 most) 1989 Centeno - November (25 all) So prospect wise Sardinas and Knebel are most impressive at 22 and 23. After that Bradley & Gagnon will be 24 for half the season with Cravy, Jungmann, Centeno being 25 all season. This is a pretty old team without much young promising talent. For a college player like Jungmann, Bradley, Gagnon....25 is an average age, just means you took your journey at a steady, 1 year at a time type pace.
