  1. My comment one Lara was more a combo of sarcasm and wishful thinking. If he moved quick (which Brewers don't ever do really) this year at age 17 he could reach Wisconsin at some point. In 2016 He could reach AA at age 18. In 2017 AA/AAA September call up at 19. That is if he is the real deal, next Miguel Cabrera, tearing cover off ball hit after hit, super aggressive approach. Realistically 2016: (17) Rookie ball, May reach Wisconsin 2017: (18) Wisconsin maybe reach BC 2018: (19) BC/Biloxi 2019: (20) Biloxi/Colorado Springs 2020: (21) Colorado Springs/Milwaukee 2022: (22) Full-Time Starter for Brewers Brewers are really hoping Jimenez is next Casey McGehee it appears. Honestly, I would not mind a: 2B Gennett SS Sadinas 3B Segura You lose a lot of pop in the short term however if Segura bounces back, Scooter stays Scooter, and Sadinas stays a high average slap hitter, that's three guys who can hit around .300 and steal some bases to help the team out. More realistically, they will make a trade as they did for Lind to find some to fill spot if Jimenez doesn't pan out.
  2. Just making way for Lara in 2016 Good for him, he knows his body isn't as up to the grind anymore. He has done it for 18 years and has left his mark. If he can stay mostly healthy this season I still expect him to hit near .300 and around 20 HR's. He dropped off last year but he was in and out of injuries, he could never really get into a nice grove. I wonder if Segura and Gennett perform this season (Gennett hits like he did last year full-time and Segura returns to 2013 form) then Sardinas performs enough off the bench proving he deserves to play every day...they roll with Segura to 3B, Sardinas to SS, and Gennett at 2B? Lose a lot of power production but all 3 can be solid .300 hitters. I guess it will be up to how Jimenez and Rogers perform, or if they can find someone via trade. The system is pretty bare at 3B for awhile
  3. I'm not too worried about Coulter the athlete. If the Brewers found him to be to unathletic, they probably would have just thrown him at first base. Denson alone isn't enough to cause the Brewers not to throw him there. I don't suspect he will ever be a plus defender but as long as he is average, doesn't hurt the team out there, his bat will be what carries him. I could see him as a MLB hitter who hits .260 Bangs out 25-30 HRs, drives in 90-100 RBIs and K's around 130x a season. He will hit in the 3-5 spot and have a solid career. I don't see him hitting .290 to .300+ consistently at the MLB level. He may have his big seasons but I see .250-.270. Really, that is a very valuable bat in the line-up. May not be an All-Star but he can be a big role player for the team. Our system doesn't have the transcendent type bats or arms. We have a lot of really good guys to make up a quality team but don't have the Braun franchise type players. The ones we hope may become that have yet to even play AA yet, most not even A ball yet.
  4. 1) Segura/Gennett 2) Gomez 3) Braun 4) Ramirez 5) Lucroy 6) Davis 7) Lind 8) Gennett/Segura I think if Segura bounces back, he offers the most at leadoff. He has much more speed and is more of a threat on the bases than Scooter. With Segura and Gomez, that could help create a lot of runs with the way they can get around the bases. Neither enjoy taking walks. Gennett has a great hit tool, he is a guy who will always be around .300 and has some pop as well but I just like having that havoc speed combo in front. Gomez very well cold be a 3-5 hitter, however, his speed is critical up front. If we want just a slower top who got on base and hit a lot we could go Scooter & Lucroy 1-2 but if we want to create some runs...Gomez at 1 or 2 is my favorite option. Braun is a 3 hitter, never like him as a 4 hitter and he has struggled when put there. He has publically said he was a fan of the 4 spot as well. Ramirez has held this spot since arriving, if healthy, they leave him there. Lucroy is good anywhere between 2-5. I don't like his speed for 2 though. Braun and A-Ram have dips on 3 & 4 and Lucroy can be a RBI machine at 5 Davis/Lind doesn't really matter, both fit 6-7. I always fit Davis into #6 Gennett or Segura holding down the back end. Nice thing here with Gennett, you don't have to worry about Segura being slowed down on the bases as much. After Braun at 3, from 4-7 no one outside of Davis run too well. Bold prediction on HRs Segura 9 Gennett 13 Lucroy 16 Ramirez 18 Lind 22 Davis 24 Gomez 28 Braun 31
  5. I think so, he is a young kid who works hard. He may always be a guy who K's more than we want but think he could still develop a good hit tool. Hard to define a 19 year as one thing with no chance of improving.
  6. I can't stress it enough, Jacob Gatewood is maybe the most boom or bust prospect in our system. He was legit consider a HS kid who wouldn't escape Top 5 in the draft at one point. He has that type of ceiling. However a bad senior year and a long swing that wasn't making much contact. He looks incredible, he filled out his frame and just looks solid and strong. Not to mention the type of power potential he had while he was thin rail....now he should even have more pop in that bat. Biggest issue is he just needs to make contact though. See ball, hit ball. If he can't do that he will bust and flame out maybe even before AA. If he start to seeing the ball, he has a high ceiling that could vault him in rankings
  7. Few issues.... 1) Brewers top prospects were not top/high profile picks. 2) Our top guys are still young and lower levels. 3) Brewers Don't push hot prospects as often It's hard to tell what you have in a prospect until they come to AA. I always consider AA as the best prospect level to perform at. Other issue, BA and others do take into account how a player is advanced. Now when Arcia or Taylor were lighting up A+ if they get the bump to AA mid-season and do well, that looks better than just staying at same level the whole season. If Coulter is abusing the ball in Wisconsin, if they bump him up, I think his star rises more. The faster you advance, the more notice you get. Brewers are not very aggressive on that front, def when it comes to young kids.
  8. The system they tried to create to even playing field has absolutely failed and backfired. Rich still get richer. Teams like Red Sox and Yankees don't care about the tax, 30 million to simply go the league is nothing to them. Because of the learning curve and the age difference, you will never see a combined draft, however, there should be an international draft over free agency to even the playing field. Teams like Brewers shouldn't have to mortgage their future in order to compete for these kids.
  9. Major take away is the Brewers were considered nationally in the race for him. They were in the race for Abreu last year. So while close but no cigar yet, we are starting to make a push in the right direction. To bad they wasted so many years when they got ride of the DSL and tried to push these kids to America before most were ready. Saved money, find another Lara this year and make another splash! Vlad Guerrero Jr I think is available this year and is suppose to be a absolute beast...get it done!
  10. See I just don't see the risk with MCW, worse case he is a 6'6 PG who will give you great defense, rebound at a high clip, spread the ball around and prob average around 12/6/6 at least. On this team. Kid can play, now it's erasing the bad norms developed by the 76ers. That protect pick wouldn't excite me at all. We need a C or PG(if we didn't get MCW). The ; impact ones will all but for be gone in top 5. Okafor, Towns, Russell, Mudiay won't drop. Not giving up Knight for Cauly-Stein, Myles Turner (needs about 40lbs of muscle put on minimum) and all the other PGs are not lottery picks of at least anyone to be excited about
  11. We could have had the pick, however, that pick 1) is a 6-14 pick at best in this years draft.. 2)Most likely won't be received until 2016. By then if they add some weapons ( which they can, they are still LA Lakers), get healthy (Randell & Limited Kobe)and add Okafor/Towns/Mudiay/ or Russell, that pick may not even be a lottery but a late teen, early twenty pick. Next what does that pick do to help us now, tomorrow, or for the future? We just would have traded our top player on a team that is growing and winning for 2 role players and a possible mid to late lottery pick in 2015 or maybe non lottery pick in 2016? Yeah smart way to build a team.... Ask 76ers how that kind of brilliant approach has worked out. Clearly you do not realize that MCW IS the PG Kidd wants to build around and the guy he wanted. They are building for now and the future and MCW fits Kidds style and scheme perfect. When your 30-23 and cruising, your not going to sell off your best player for a protected pick. Bayliss is good but he is a off the bench spark combo guard. Ennis had played in 8 NBA games. Marshall was hurt and traded, Wolters Cut. You would have killed all excitement for Bucks basketball if u say a protected pick is more important than the season and the future. The bust rate on picks 6-14 are extremely high.... A rookie of the year, all defensive team caliber player, seems like much better return in the now and future. Turnovers happen at a high rate when you are a PG on a awful team. When you have the ball in your hand every play and you have to force everything to stand a chance, that's not a good situation. However his finishing at the rim, assists, rebounding, length, vision, pass first, great defender style out weighs that he turned ball over and forced too many shot trying to create and win on a awful team.
  12. With 4 turnovers and some of the worst efficiency in the league. He may improve with us, it would be difficult to be any worse but it's a huge gamble trading that Lakers pick for him and that's essentially what we did. There is absolutely ZERO risk cause we DID NOT trade him for the Laker pick! Bucks didn't even consider that pick! Suns didn't have enough to get Knight, and Bucks wanted MCW NOT the 1st round pick!!!! I don't understand why you are so focused on this pick that the Suns didn't care about, the Bucks didn't care about nor did the Lakers! There is little chance Lakers pick won't be in top 5 since they are awful. Okafor and Towns won't make it to #6 even if we got that pick. Real breakdown of the 3 team trade: Step 1: 76ers trade MCW for 1st Rounder Step 2: flip MCW with Ennis and Plumlee to get the man you want in Knight Not the way trade worked: Bucks trade Knight for 1st round pick, Ennis, Plumlee Bucks flip 1st round pick to 76ers The whole point 1) Suns wanted Knight 2)Suns didn't have enough or the PG Bucks want in order to part with Knight 3)Suns had the means to get MCW into deal in order to get Knight Bucks 1) Bucks love Knight and are not motivated to move him 2) turn down Dragic for Knight cause they want a PG of future in order to trade knight 3) Suns found a way to get Bucks their PG of future in order to get Knight 4) Bucks decided to build for future while adding young depth 5) Bucks weren't going to trade him for that pick cause it leaves huge whole at PG, doesn't help make team better, pick is protected by awful team. Hurts team. A future 6-14 pick has zero guarantee of producing at all. Why trade away your key player, hurt chemistry, and chances of winning when your 30-23 and growing to get a 6-14 pick next year? None of the 1st round pick trade talk makes any sense to me.... We aren't in suck for the future more. We don't need a 6-14 pick to excite the fan base if we even get that pick this season, large percent chance we don't... If Nick Young and Jeremy Lin are your two franchise star players.... Your not drafting outside of top 5
  13. Kidd said tonight he sees the potential in MCW, and wants to help get him to Magic level....as it had been rumored, MCW was Kidds guy and you can bet he a big part in getting this trade done... Kidd's guy wasn't a future 1st round pick....
  14. With this trade, Bucks stay competitive at a playoff level but have more depth now. They lose scoring but we have a real pass first point guard to build around who is excellent on defensive end. Ennis could be a good energy PG off bench and Plumlee is a big guy who is solid depth and will get minutes. I really liked Knight, the teams chemistry but he was going to require 12-14 million aft this season and really is not a great defender, he isn't a true fit to the offense, and his vision/natural instincts lack. MCW just fits much better
  15. There are a few random things I have read on here that just make zero sense 1) "for as bad as MCW has been" Are you kidding me? He plays on the only team in NBA history whose whole goal is to lose every single game and despite that he is averaging 16/7/7....yeah just terrible.... The fact it is possible to even be able to average 7 assist a game on a team that horrid is unbelievable. Not to forget he is nearly out rebounding Nerlins Noel, which means he just flies around and uses length as PG to do so. If your talking about his shooting, guy can't shoot, who the heck cares? That's not his job on the Bucks. He was forced to shot on 76ers cause they had zero other options. Jason Kidd could barely shot until late in career. Is he not a future first ballot hall of famer cause he couldn't shot? MCW will never be asked to carry an offensive load ever in Milwaukee. That's what Parker, Middleton, Giannis are suppose to do. Last if being rated the 2nd best defensive PG in all the NBA is bad....what is good enough? 2) The Bucks would have NOT traded for that pick!!! They loved Knight, the turned down Dragic for him. They wanted MCW, get over it. Suns wanted Knight. Bucks wanted a PG of future who was under contract for while and fit the scheme offensively and defensively. 76ers just want picks. If the Bucks had any interest in trading Knight for Ennis,Plumlee, and the Lakers protected pick, they would have done it. They weren't motivated to trade Knight. My guess is Suns wanted Knight, Bucks turned down Dragic and told them Ennis and Plumlee are not enough. If 2 teams can't make it work with what they want, they look outside to a third team. Bucks prob said they are interested in MCW, suns contacted 76ers to see if he was available, they said yes for a 1st round pick....suns the would come back and say we are able to include MCW with Ennis, Plumlee.... Bucks then agree cause they get there guy and young pieces for future
  16. It's not bad if Lakers pick falls after 6 which is pretty possible when it comes to how crappy the lottery system is. They got Joel and Nerlen for the their twin towers, and they will be able to get either Russell or Mudiay to be the PG of the future, if they get pick 6-10 they can also add a Stanley Johnson/Winslow/Hezonja also well. They can't sell winning, got to sell hope....That and the fact that team needs some shooters which MCW can not do.
  17. PG MCW 6'6 SG Middleton 6'7 SF Giannis 6'11 PF Henson 6'11 C Zaza 6'11 Ready to play some small ball? ha
  18. I think Medeiros should be the top prospect in the system, based on upside. ([sarcasm]Until we sign Moncada, of course[/sarcasm]) I don't see Mereiros upside making him #1 in system....I'd put Harrison and Lara. Gatewood is a guy who can really boom or bust. wHEN YOU talk about upside, this kid at one time most thought wouldn't get out of the top 5. He has an all or nothing swing. He has already put nearly 20 pounds onto his 6'4 - 6'5 frame. He shortens his swing and is able to see ball better, he can a big prospect for us. Coulter may never get love that I think he deserves nationally but I think he will be a solid impact MLB RF for many years
  19. I'd like to see him at Wisconsin as well. He seems to have a more mature approach at the plate, so let's be a bit aggressive with him. And as people noted, he seems like a level headed kid who will benefit from the added responsibility and advanced play. One minor issue with moving Harrison to Wisconsin is Brandon Diaz is probably slated to be the CF. I suppose you could have the two split time between CF and RF so they both can play there. I just like the idea of Harrison playing the premium spot as much as possible. Repetitions (at bat and in the field) are important for him as he focuses on baseball for the first time in his life. Harrison is the higher priority prospect over Brandon Diaz such as Tyrone Taylor over Michael Reed. If they feel he is ready for Wisconsin, they will prob play Diaz all over (in LF-RF-DH- and CF on Harrison's days off, DH days, or days they want to work him in the corners)
  20. He looks very similar to Rickie Weeks when you look at him. Same type of build. Super excited for him and I do hope he is in Wisconsin as well. It wouldn't be shocking the way they have been aggressive with guys like Taylor and Arcia. The reason I think he could be held back is if they want to try to keep that wave together for a little bit.
  21. I hope they do Pull the Trigger and I am more than happy with him at 2nd possibly providing the type of bat we hoped Weeks could consistently be or a Cano type bat. Def if you think you got something as special as they do in Lara. In 3-4 years we could have an infield of: 2B Moncada SS Arcia 3B Lara Moncada and Lara could be big impact bats in our line-up. Mix in Coulter's power (man looking at this it'd be nice if he could play first) Brewers took a risk on Lara and think they should take even a bigger risk now!
  22. Here is a look at the bucks this season vs over .500/playoff type teams. 7-14 W/L Total. I have broke them down in colors. Some one made a comment about how bad we do against the best teams and really I disagree. We play the best teams very tough. Only lost by 10+ points to them 5x this season. We are a consistent rebounder and a consistent scoring treat away from contending with the big boys. He just don't rebound or score enough to match our defensive talent. Green is a Win Red is what I considered a close really good game played, usually 6 points or less Pink is more of the 7-10 point losses where you hung around but never really close close Blue are games where we really didn't take care of business at all Atlanta W 107-77 L 85-90 Memphis W 93-92 Houston L 103-117 Portland L 97-104 W 95-88 LA Clippers W111-106 L 102-106 Dallas L105-107 L102-125 Washington L 97-108 L 100-111 Cleveland L 108-111 W 96-80 Chicago L 86-95 L87-95 San Antonio L 95-101 Phoenix W96-94 L 96-102 Oklahoma City W 85-78 L 101-114 So according to my standards we have: Won 7 Games Lost 6 Close Games (2pt, 3,pt 4pt, 5pt, 2 6pt games) Blown Out 5 Games And had 3 In lose loses (5 if to go 6 to 10) we have
  23. 1 thing the Bucks really need is: a rebounder! I don't care if he is as terrible offensively as the NBA has seen if he can just be nasty on the boards.... Bucks currently don't have anyone to rebound. Giannis leads way with 6 a game.... Game in and game out rebounding is the biggest issue. Offensive reloads are unreal and non stop. We just need someone to step up more inside. Henson has disappointed me in that area, last year he had a good amount of double doubles and was real good on boards & I'm not seeing it this year when he is given a chance
  24. Knight is not a role player, role players don't carry a team on his back for two seasons while just missing a reserve spot as an All-Star (still may be an All-Star) Giannis is a jumper away from being one of the deadliest players in NBA. If he just develops an okay jumper he'd prob be averaging 17-20 pts a game easy. He averages 12 points not being able to shot past 8 ft. He's a currently like a 28% fg% jump shooter
  25. Incredible win, this is a game they lose early on in season. Great defense, absolutely great! Wish Giannis develops some type of jump shot eventually, kills him and his scoring that he can't shot a jump shot at all. Still 12/12 not bad. Only 8 players, only 7 contributed really (O Bryant only played 9 minutes)
