  1. I'll just repeat it again today, Michael Reed is one of the most underrated prospect in system. another 4 hits and another SB. Also, Zarraga again today.... guy just hits and gets on base!
  2. Michael Reed has been turning it on lately. Now he's up to .250, 20 bbs and 13sb's ..... I think he is the forgotten prospect a lot of times. Def one of the most underrated. I believe he will steal 50+ bases this season as well as hit 10-12hrs. If he can hit .270 at least in BC. I think he could be a top 10 prospect
  3. With our system it's important to view BPA as players with highest ceilings. Take your chances. Arnett's, Jungmann's they may be BPA based on where they are right now and production (their floor) however we don't want the next maybe #4-5 start or a possible #4OF or average starter type of ceiling...we want guys who can blossom into great things....or at least tear up minors to be traded. I can never complain about us drafting a guy who has an incredible ceiling even if its a little lower floor. I rather miss on that than settle for a guy who doesn't have an it factor at all in the early 1st and 2nd. I think Seid has finally backed of the college production guys a bit to focus on that. Im fine missing on Mike Jones, Brent Brewer, Mark Rogers, Max Walla (at least as a hitter) and so on because the juice is way more worth the squeeze than an Arnett, Jungmann. 2012: Coulter(all around talent with great offensive ceiling) Roache (huge offensive ceiling-without injury he is a top 10 pick) Taylor (Phenomenal athlete with high ceiling) Quintana (very good arm and can develop into a good prospect this season in A) 2013: Williams and Neuhaus both are high ceiling prospects, and due to new draft bonus rules they drafted a few more signable solid prospects. Which is fine when it's not in the 1st or 2nd round, don't pass up top talent of average talent early. Even in 2011 he still took flyers on Lopez and Reed early. 2010 had Dylan Covey who I loved but then the whole diabetes at the signing deadline killed. So hopefully he continues to high ceiling guys. This is a class with a lot of high ceiling young kids.... hopefully he gets at least 1 of those young talents. Aiken, Kolek, Holmes, Ortiz, Gatewood, Jackson, Cease, Gordon, Davidson, Toussaint etc.
  4. Guessing person doing mock just forgot Jacob Gatewood.....if he falls to #20 that's a steal! If Kolek, Aiken, Rodon, Holmes, Ortiz are all off board I'd be outraged if they passed on Gatewood! That would be like having a chance to take Baez and passing. I don't see him possibly making it out of top 10.
  5. to second Mass, with these kids its much more than about baseball for them coming over. Mallen like all other signees will attend the Academy, sit in classes learning English, learning how to adjust to American lifestyle, and etc. He will get at least one year in the DSL and hopefully be over in Spring of 2015
  6. June/July Promotions D'Vo to AAA and Taylor to AA (Hopefully Ratterree or Pena hit way to A+ and Reed slides over to CF) Lol a little early to be calling it but I think this is what will be coming sometime this season.
  7. 2011 was a terrible luck draft. Lot of talent we all wanted that just didn't fall. Baez, Springer, Lindor were all guys who realistically could have been there for us. I disliked Jungmann pick most because Texas road his arm into the ground and he was such a high floor- low ceiling pick (IMO). I was much higher on the Bradley pick but he so far proved me wrong (outside of his AFL stint and his start in 13'). I thought without a doubt with two picks there, that at 11 (protected pick) we needed to go to with extreme upside player then we could go safer with with the next pick which was not protected if we didn't sign. I really wanted Guerreri. Fernandez, Swihart, Nimmo were other guys I liked available. I'm a high ceiling High School type guy.
  8. In ST Rivera and Arcia rotated between SS and 2B and while I wish Rivera had done enough to be in AA, think they will find a way to make it work. Developing versatility is always a good thing. Rivera is so interesting in that at times he is far from a light hitting MIF'er. Kid can go on absolute tears when he is seeing the ball. Problem is he goes so hot and cold doing that. Being in BC doesn't help much either. He has a body that will continue to fill out and develop strength. Very disappointed that Garfield was held back. I mean for being in BC his numbers where not bad, no Brewer had a more sensational spring, he is good defensively, and there is zero blocking him in AA or AAA. Coulter is only other catcher who is an everyday catcher prospect. As a whole. Impossible not to be excited about the OF. Cooper will be very solid. Our two top SS's in system are on same team (good or bad thing? we will see) Then of course, when it comes to winning.....returning a whole roster of college arms in a pitcher league never hurts.
  9. Worked for Wily Peralta.... mid as well. He has fallen behind on the OF depth chart so much over last few seasons, his career there looked pretty dim. High pick, still young, lose nothing for doing it, why not? I like it.
  10. Really like the make-up of this team. I was disappointed that McFarland was not promoted however with Rivera failing to earn a promotion to Huntsville, no way you can have Arcia, Rivera, and McFarland all on same roster. The line-up should have some punch with Ratterree, Coulter, Pena, Brennan, Denson. Johnny Davis will anchor down CF (Tom Flanigan during Brewer Game) and I guess he is as exciting as they come. He is fastest player in the entire farm. McFarland is a very good hitter. Being so young last year at Wisconsin, he should be a much more mature, experienced bat in the line-up this season. Frankie Castillo is another guy to watch and be excited about. Brewers seem to be reasonably high on him. Ortega's bat will not draw the uh and ahs but his defense will follow the line of great defensive SS's in Wisconsin Pitching wise I'm excited to see Banda and Quintana continue to develop into prospects. Really like Quintana. Taylor Williams seems like he is a guy who who can really excel and develop into a good prospect. Astin is a high pick and hopefully can prove people wrong like Jimmy Nelson did. Many considered him just a safe, save money, relief prospect when drafted. Diaz is a huge wildcard. He wasn't a lights out star like a Rizzi in the DSL was but most have really impressed! Overall my big follows this season (who im most excited about as prospects) are: Coulter Denson Quintana Pena McFarland T. Williams Guys who can really jump on map Ratterree (College hitters in R+ don't excite me....Captain Lou ruined that forever) Castillo (Brewers have been fairly aggressive with him and he allowed them to release Ra Ra Jenkins who looked promising) Banda (Young arm and made great strides last season) Ortega (Outstanding defender, now needs bat to step up) J. Davis (Dangerous speed. Can never overlook a guy who can flat out fly) Astin (Interested in what he has to offer. Can he develop into a #4-#5 guy or just a future RP hopeful) Diaz (I use to do most of the DSL stuff on this forum and I can't tell you anything about him but most be good to go DSL to A)
  11. #1 0% chance DBacks throw in Bradley #2 absolutely zero chance DBacks throw in Bradley + others He is one of top pitching prospects in all milb and at 20 is just carving up AA hitters. They already invested $5 million on him just to get him in the door. His ceiling surpasses any Brewer pitching prospects I can think off outside of maybe Neugenbauer (believe he was top 5 in milb) It's not like Brewers are dealing an annual Cy Young mega pitcher...Yo is very good but struggling pitcher right now. Get throwing in krod/axford/aram etc if you want to have a chance at a legit dominant Ace like Bradley
  12. Because these are 16 year old kids and can't be projected easily. Most of these kids are high school sophomores in American terms. How can you justify spending all you money one one kid? The Brewers have missed on nearly all their big bonus signings to this point ( Pena & Rubio are flashing potential, Peralta was a hit) and have actually seen more low bonus unknowns like Alcides and Arcia shine. Look at Gomez.. at 16 he was a $60k guy by 19 he was top 10 player in milb and knocking on MLB door. I didn't look it up but I bet most of those huge bonus guys before him never even made it to MLB Moreover you dont scout and sign on what ba or MLB website scouts rank guys. Scouts find guys and if they fall in love with what they see, they will pursue regardless of what "baseball America" ranked them. Im very happy with the splash Brewers made. Even better they didn't just burn their wallets on one talentedprospect however mulitiple. Zero way to justify spending 2million on a 16year old... There is no way to predict how they will develop
  13. He very well could be a Myers is they stop forcing him to play a position he is awful at. He was drafted for his big bat. There is one position in baseball (maybe 2 including SS) where your big bat cannot advance without defense and that is catcher. I get it, they see/hope they have a young kid who could be a Mauer type of offensive weapon back there but he will always a liability defensively. He just doesn't seem to have that natural feel for it. Why put all that extra stress on him? Let him do what he does best....hit the crap out of the ball. I'd like to see them try 3rd base with him first before corner outfield. We have ton of COF's and he could always slide to first in the future as well. We have a big hole at 3rd base and is worth a shot to try him out there in spring training next season
  14. Here is my "we need to get signed high schooler" of this years draft. Could take some work but seems like he has some potential to be a big time bat. Size and power reminds me of a Jason Rogers but with more upside.
  15. Well I was never high on Jungmann and prob never will be. I really don't mind where he started or think that it would change the fact he just does not miss bats nor does he throw as hard as he did in college. His velocity dropped a bit his last year in college as did his k rate and has not came back really. He is a work horse, innings eater to fit in on the back end of a rotation. His ceiling is lower than many other pitchers in the system I believe. So outside of him I really like and agree with most of the list. I am also a big fan of Haniger and really think he can burst out and be a big prospect for us.
  16. Well I think most people remember my love for DSL and Arizona Brewers so I had to do some digging. Couldn't believe when he told me Perez gave up baseball....so much talent I thought. I also couldn't believe that one of the most dominant pitchers the last 2 seasons in the league, who is in a system in search of pitching prospects to step, was once again held back from coming over to Arizona. There has to be something we are missing on with Rizzo. Injuried, not have very good stuff, not ready maturity wise like some young DSL players, or etc. But how can you be the ace the past two seasons and still not get the bump? Rubio seemed extremely raw and like he could use an extra season in DSL but even he got moved up. Gian Rizzo and Carlos Belonis where two I was really hoping for. It was nice to see Milton Gomez, Jorge Ortega, and Castillo all get moved up. Rubio while surprising, it's great he showed enough to get statewide!
  17. Should, he shouldn't have been made come back here in first place so hopefully soon enough we will be in BC
  18. I should also add that the addition of these two guys means I got every player on my pre-season T-Rats wish-list granted. What a fun squad. Except The Jose Pena snub, this completes mine as well. (I figured Haniger would be in BC so him not making BC roster i'm guessing just made to big of crowd in Wisconsin for Pena)
  19. Well I wouldn't call a ninth inning BP pitcher a whipping boy. Aren't BP pitchers suppose to give up home runs and long long long warning track outs? Please without the blue hear the sarcasm oozing out of my text lol Axman is easily the whipping boy. terrible in WBC, Spring Training, and first 3 outings. He needs to get the Ax soon. You can't get away with being this bad cause of success couple seasons ago. An opposing hitter at this point just smiles when he comes in. They just need to sit back and wait for him to feed them a juicy straight as an arrow fastball right now middle of plate.
  20. The pure fact that his velocity is now reaching 95mph is very encouraging and exciting. So his body and stuff is developing like we hoped when he was merely a very projectable young pitcher. Giving up HR's like Axford should hopefully go down as he develops more and more. Just hope we start to see his stuff turn into results soon.
  21. Has the T-Rat game started yet or is Lopez just tossing batting practice to Peoria? Wind def can't be an excuse, wind is 4 mph in from RF. Not the way you wanted to see Lopez start out. edit: box score was just changed, it originally said he gave up 7er and 4 hrs. Now his final line is 4ip 6h 6er 2bb 3k 3hrs
  22. I'll quote this as a twitter retweet for me agreeing! For a raw, development, project, boom or bust draft prospect with many holes in swing and game that some scouts noted around draft....Bruce Seid is looking like a very smart man right now!
  23. We have discussed this for years and everyone ranks different. The three main types in my eyes in the way people rank are: 1) Based heavy on ceiling/impact/potential/projectability ---this is for those who put guys like Lopez in top 10 after being drafted and still have him high. To me this rater weighs heavy on the tools and projectability. 2) Base heavy on production ---A Hunter Morris, Caleb Gindl, Scooter Gennett type player will usually rank higher than a Roache, Arcia, Taylor. These guys may have lower ceilings but have proved to us they can produce consistantly as where others have not yet 3) The hybrid of both You grade out in order who you believe has the most tools and most future impact. You grade out who has produced the most. Finally, you combine the to list and see what you have. This is what we all strive for but we usually skew more 1 or 2. If you skew more 1....Roache is a sure fire top 5. You skew 2) He probably rated more 15-20 range. Hybrid would rated him more 10-15 Hope that makes sense and isn't confusing. Everyone will differ and grade differently. Rankings are more fun than exact science. A #2 will use sabremetrics to prove why and a #1 will use more scouting reports
  24. The only benefit I see of Morris coming up would be it could help Brewers make decision on the future of Hart a little easier. Do you extend him or does Morris replace him. Right now, there is no sample size to go off of and they would be kind of just hoping he produces. I think him being in AAA is good for his development. Let him keep producing and building that confidence up. He still has things to work on and now is the time to do it. I have a feeling it will be another monster season for him. The fact he already hit a HR is great. In career he has struggled with power in 1st half of the season before he finds his stroke and goes on a tear in the 2nd half. He puts it together for full season...watch out!
  25. In trwi7's defense, it was a pretty rough start to the night for Bradley. He settled down nicely after the first inning plus, but I was listening to the game, and I'll admit I thought it was gonna get ugly as well. He retired the last 7 batters he faced, striking out four, including Cubs top prospect Javier Baez on a big curveball, so there were definitely some positives. Looking forward to his next few starts as he gets stretched out and can go longer in to games. Yes, I posted that after the 1st inning where he gave up 3 hits and a walk. Glad to see he rebounded in his final 3 innings. Yeah, I didn't see when it was posted. I just saw his line and then the comment and in my head it was like, the line didn't seem to bad (considering last year was brutal lol). My bad. Plus I really like Bradley a lot, he just needs to show up, pitch the way he is capable and get to Huntsville. He's got all the tools to big a top rotation guy, just needs to do it
