  1. Just like Ueck says, a coupla grand-slammers, and we're tied for the division lead.
  2. 7-1 against the a good chunk of the Cards "A" pen. Good news.
  3. I don't really look at it like this. You need the Cubs to win 2 of 3, probably, even before the series, because you can't expect a sweep. I think the Cards missed their chance to feel safe dropping two in the desert.
  4. Happ RBI double. Cubs lead 2-1. Given last weekend, I think they need more...
  5. Cardinals are throwing Gallegos in the 6th, now Miller im the 7th. Schildt going for it. If they lose with those guys having pitched (Gallegos threw like 30 pitches!) It'll be tougher on them tomorrow. In the WC era, these final week games are hard to manage. Have to maxmin a whole lot with risk and leverage.
  6. Pomeranz and Hader both threw yesterday. Hader got a 4-out save. You still need help, even if you win. Throwing out either of those guys to protect a 1-run lead at COORS FIELD is nuts. You need them as fresh as possible for Tuesday if you have to play. Peralta, okay. But he's been inconsistent as well. Albers has been bad lately. There is an argument to be made that leaving Davies in was the better choice. Reasonable minds can disagree. To act like it's ridiculous to pull him to pinch-hit in an RBI situation isn't the best approach in my view. We lost a game tonight. It was going to happen.
  7. Going to need some big-time, Manny Pina, Eric Thames heroics to have any shot tonight. Obviously, I want to win the division. But I am weirdly excited about the chance to experience a WC game. Call me crazy, I guess. I sort of feel like Game 163 last year is about as tense as I will ever be for any baseball game. That was the best win of my Brewer life. The flipside was losing Game 4 in LA. Most physically sick I have ever felt about a baseball game. After those two, I feel oddly zen. Whatever happens, the result will be somewhere in between.
  8. Well, the WC is Tuesday. And the "A" pen threw yesterday. So tomorrow seems like the better day.... ...it's not looking good tonight. But Cubs and Cards are in a coin flip. Maybe CHI helps us out. If not, everything from here is supposed to be bonus, anyway.
  9. There are three innings left at Coors field, folks. Get out of it and go hit.
  10. Long way to go, but if this ends up an L, it's on wasted opportunities against an average pitcher...
  11. I don't care who the Cubs play these next three games. I think the weird part of the quote is Maddon's assumption that we'd complain. Personally, I think it's funny, but he could have just said "guys are hurt, it isn't worth it" or whatever, and instead he wanted to get a weird dig in. As an earlier poster said, shows how much the Brewers burned the Cubs the last two years. Edit: absent-minded cuss filter activation.
  12. That would be fine with them since I think they are going to start Strasburg anyway. I feel like starting Stras would be overthinking...of course, Scherzer hasn't looked elite lately, but he seems like the more intimidating option. I suppose odds are both guys pitch anyway.
  13. I thought there was no way we'd get all 3 of these games. Wow. Just wow. I'm going to keep doubting this team because who knows what happens when I stop. We'll probably get swept in Colorado.
  14. Haudricourt said Thames had "aches and pains." Sounds like, "nothing to see," but weird he'd get an AB.
  15. Uh-oh. Don't like seeing Thames exit early. Hope it's just a precaution.
  16. I can see that. For me, though, there's no bad time to clinch a playoff spot. If we lose today, I think it will be because Castillo is on point and not because we're tired or hungover or something. I don't think the Reds will push him too hard in his last start, but he's very sharp early on.
  17. I don't know where to put this, but when CC is talking about Grisham in his postgame speech, I'm pretty sure Pina is yelling, "Tigre! Tigre!" Pina is a pretty cool dude. I hope the name sticks.
  18. Moose and Cain are going to go full 2015 Royals!
  19. Soaking it in. Still kind of stunned. I am trying not to hope too hard after the division, but, man, if we pull off the sweep tomorrow, holy cow. A game back with 3 to play would make things very interesting... Awesome that Yelich is there celebrating. 22!
