    Rea settled down reasonably well. Pirates good bullpen guys all had to pitch yesterday, so there's a chance to steal this one if we can keep in contact.

    Well, the Braves have started to knock around the Cubs pen. So, that's something, I guess.

    As someone said, OF production has been very, very bad. Can't have three guys OPSing around .600. Some of it is just the young guys and a small sample still, but that is a lot of near auto-outs right now. Perkins really carried this team for a while, but he's really scuffling.

    Yeah, Bauers and Dunn seem like pretty clear replacement level guys. Ortiz needs way more playing time. I just want to throw out the youthquake and let's roll.

    This is definitely the first extended struggle of the year. Still, a 2-4 road trip could have easily been 1-5 or 0-6. Really would have liked game one in Kansas City and/or game two in Chicago, but that's baseball. Really hoping we can rip off a 5-2 homestand. Get things rolling at home. We're nearing the quarter pole here, and have created a 4-game separation on the rest of the division, which is good. I think the Cubs look like the favorites, but the Reds will win some games too. This division is going to come down to the last week in all likelihood, so going 2-4 instead of 1-5 in some 6-game stretches matters.

    Brewers were slated to miss Sonny Gray, but with the Mets-Cards game now postponed, they'll likely face him on tomorrow. Been seeing a lot of good pitchers lately. Gotta hit them in October, so might as well do it in May, I guess. If they can pull out this one today, a 3-3 road trip with these matchups is going to feel really good.

    Yeah, I don't see it with him. Of course, not sure there are a lot of other options either, and he's probably the last guy out of the bullpen. But no excuse for him seeing an inning in a 1- or 2-run game in the 7th.

    I do have to say that I disagree with the minor league system being underwhelming. Chuorio has been fine. Perkins good. Turang has been excellent. All-Star level. Frelick, okay, maybe you want him to be better, but he's not been terrible. Black has really struggled in a very small sample. Yelich's injury, combined with Hoskins and Adames not being monster run producers, has been the culprit on the offensive side. I'm most frustrated because we probably should have had at least one of these last four losses (assuming we continue to be unable to flip the script in the 8th and 9th innings). That said, I still think we're in a better spot than I'd imagined we'd be. This division still isn't very good. We're still not full strength. I mean, if we're 8 games over at Memorial Day, that's right where you want to be.

    Viera in this spot is silly. I'm not a fan of Murphy's strategic moves. His handling of the bullpen has been pretty weird.

    What is Ortiz swinging at? Adames last inning too. Geez. Definitely in one of those frustrating stretches. Have faced good pitching, which is part of it, some bad luck on hard-hit balls, but also just too many mistakes and poor ABs.

    Team really needs a win. They were going to come back to Earth on the road. Hope they pick it up at home, but the offense really has to be better. Just so many quiet innings in contrast to early in the year, where it was a lot of pressure on opposing pitchers.

    So frustrating. Perfect throw. Probably safe. Ball beat him, so called out and had to stay out. Last few games have featured a lot of bad luck, poor hitting, and costly mistakes.

    Bad inning. The offense has really struggled lately. Two good innings the whole series against the Cubs. One big swing today. Some bad luck involved, but the way this team is built, that is not enough.

    Yeah, I don't like Black in the 3 spot. We have better hitters right now. It's sacrificing quality to get the alternating handedness, which is something I've seen more of the last week or so, even though we didn't really care about it early on. Maybe it's prioritizing platoon advantage against a bad bullpen? I can see the logic for it, but I'd honestly rather hit Turang in that spot if you absolutely must have a lefty.

    Didn't pitch well enough to win today. Good battle. Get the series tomorrow with your best pitcher on the mound. I think you really have to be patient with Assad. He's not known for being efficient. Hasn't clocked six yet this year. It's so killer to have a struggling bullpen. Has the Cubs' schedule been pretty easy? It's hard for me to believe they have 20 wins with their injuries on offense and very shaky bullpen. Lot of similarities between the Cubs and Brewers, honestly, other than Chicago's massive financial advantage. Must suck for them to have so much more on the resource side and it basically translates to....us owning them the last half decade.
