  1. Viera in this spot is silly. I'm not a fan of Murphy's strategic moves. His handling of the bullpen has been pretty weird.
  2. Could sure use a big swing from Black here
  3. What is Ortiz swinging at? Adames last inning too. Geez. Definitely in one of those frustrating stretches. Have faced good pitching, which is part of it, some bad luck on hard-hit balls, but also just too many mistakes and poor ABs.
  4. Team really needs a win. They were going to come back to Earth on the road. Hope they pick it up at home, but the offense really has to be better. Just so many quiet innings in contrast to early in the year, where it was a lot of pressure on opposing pitchers.
  5. Am I wrong, or are we 0-13 when trailing after 8?
  6. So frustrating. Perfect throw. Probably safe. Ball beat him, so called out and had to stay out. Last few games have featured a lot of bad luck, poor hitting, and costly mistakes.
  7. Bad inning. The offense has really struggled lately. Two good innings the whole series against the Cubs. One big swing today. Some bad luck involved, but the way this team is built, that is not enough.
  8. Yeah, I don't like Black in the 3 spot. We have better hitters right now. It's sacrificing quality to get the alternating handedness, which is something I've seen more of the last week or so, even though we didn't really care about it early on. Maybe it's prioritizing platoon advantage against a bad bullpen? I can see the logic for it, but I'd honestly rather hit Turang in that spot if you absolutely must have a lefty.
  9. Didn't pitch well enough to win today. Good battle. Get the series tomorrow with your best pitcher on the mound. I think you really have to be patient with Assad. He's not known for being efficient. Hasn't clocked six yet this year. It's so killer to have a struggling bullpen. Has the Cubs' schedule been pretty easy? It's hard for me to believe they have 20 wins with their injuries on offense and very shaky bullpen. Lot of similarities between the Cubs and Brewers, honestly, other than Chicago's massive financial advantage. Must suck for them to have so much more on the resource side and it basically translates to....us owning them the last half decade.
  10. So...Hudson can't get the middle, but Neris can get six inches off the plate. Got it.
  11. Man...that missed third strike is big now. Hope Tyler can make it moot by just blasting one.
  12. Love the way this team fights (literally and metaphorically, I suppose). Looking at the pitching matchups, I was very worried coming in. They might still lose two of three, there's something good happening with this team.
  13. Kind of feel like maybe this is not where you want Viera. Honestly surprised he started the inning...hope they can keep it from hurting.
  14. I was thinking about that game a lot today. Probably my favorite Brewer win of my lifetime. Game 5 in 2011 was great, but beating the Cubs at Wrigley to clinch a division, after ripping off like 8 in a row, was just awesome. Never felt a regular season like that, and game 163s are now a thing of the past. Those, along with the '82 pennant clincher, have to be the top 3.
  15. I am thrilled to be 19-11. Seriously, this start has been way more than I expected. It's 30 games, but I would have jumped at that record if you'd offered it to me in February. That it's been achieved even with all the injuries and the thin pitching staff is incredible.
  16. When I was umping (mostly youth baseball, U-14, U-16, etc.), I always found it pretty simple to line up your angle and get a view of the ball and the foot. It was a little trickier from the runner-on-first, behind-the-mound position, but still pretty easy. I also think the usual default call is out. Past a certain point, your eye has no idea anyway, and the sound never much helped me.
  17. Saw Chafin is pitching well this year so far. Does not compute. ;)
  18. I wonder if maybe we're getting to the point where the pitchers peripherals love are also going to be the ones more likely to get hurt... I have always liked Rea. The Kyle Hendricks, really solid number 3 starter kind of guys always seem undervalued.
  19. I think it'll be mid-May. Hopefully he can get his timing back quickly. Last McCalvy tweet I saw had Yelich saying something about "usually this would be the time I'd rush back, but I've learned not to do that." Or something like that. I have faith.
  20. It always seemed pretty weird to me, so makes sense. Also makes me realize the Brewers don't seem to have a suspension thing happening much recently. Maybe that was one area where Murphy and CC disagreed (partly blue).
  21. My recollection is that these things usually take a while. Am I making this up, or are appeals often heard when the team is NY or Philly or Boston or something? I feel like I remember guys getting appeals heard when their teams travel near the league office. Obviously, Zoom changes all that, but I'm not sure it's actually expedited things...
