  1. willy has been pitching well as of late. stuff like that keeps you optimistic about a mysterious brewers future.
  2. what an awesome performance by willy. by far the best game of his career. it's nice that it was against the reds too. i can't stand that team nearly as much as the cardinals.
  3. I like it. However, yesterday the D-Backs GM said they aren't interested in trading Skaggs. I don't think that the Crew will be able to get him. I think it would be awesome if the Brewers could get Castellanos for just K-rod, Aoki, and Gonzalez. I think that your Dodgers trade has a good chance of happening. Your scenario has the Brewers loading on good young talent. That's the direction they need to go in. I wonder if the Brewers could get Archie Bradley if they went all out and included Aramis with Gallardo, Henderson, and Axford?
  4. i'm so happy about this i don't know what to do. the brewers need to sell in order to speed up the rebuild process. what do you guys think the brewers could get if they offered a monster deal of aramis, gallardo, axford, and rodriguez?
  5. I just want to be clear on this, he hurt his knee during off season workouts in January, and he should have had preemptive surgery in October to fix the problem that wasn't there. Right? Wasn't aware that this problem happened in January. For some reason I thought he had been hurt towards the end of last year.
  6. There's no doubt that the Pirates overall are a more historic franchise than the Brewers. Before the 20 year streak, they had a rich history with 5 World Series titles. However, in recent history they have been utter garbage. The Brewers have owned the Pirates for nearly the entire decade. The Pirates have a long way to go before they can be a called a powerhouse again.
  7. hahaha Pittsburgh a powerhouse? Easy there! They are playing good baseball, that's about it. The Yankees, Giants, and Cardinals are powerhouses. The Pirates are a team trying to break a 20 year streak of losing seasons. They are a team that has gotten completely owned by the Brewers the past 5 years.
  8. FWIW, I think it's a bit premature to say that Burgos is "ruined" after a grand total of six big league starts. well slightly exaggerated but outings like that can linger in the mind of young pitchers.
  9. he favored the fastball. switched between 4 seam and 2 seam. the 4 seam got 2 groundouts. threw the changeup just once for a ball. good velocity. Mid 90s? Any breaking stuff? most of the time the 4 seam fastball hovered around 93-94. i think twice i saw it hit 96. 28 out of his 52 pitches were 4 seamers. 13 2 seamers. 6 curveballs. 1 cutter, 3 changeups. he got jobbed once on a fastball right down the middle that was called a ball. other than that his control problems reared their ugly head. most of his 4 seamers were balls just outside of the zone. he looked nervous and was just chucking fastballs near the middle. i don't think lucroy helped either. he should have helped out the rookie and told him to change up his pitch selection
  10. RRR not helping Hellweg. They should have pulled him 2 runs ago. I would hate to see his confidence get ruined the way RRR ruined Burgos
  11. tough outing for the kid. he's relied too much on his fastball. he's thrown 27 4 seamers and 13 2 seamers. lucroy is doing a terrible job of calling this game. most of hellweg's fastballs are in or near the middle of the zone. the defense hasn't helped
  12. no need for aoki to steal with gomez at the plate. first dumb decision of the game by RRR
  13. he favored the fastball. switched between 4 seam and 2 seam. the 4 seam got 2 groundouts. threw the changeup just once for a ball. good velocity.
  14. i like that hellweg threw high at mccutchen. they threw at aramis, hellweg backs up his teammate. most of the time brewer pitchers don't retaliate. the kid is showing some guts.
  15. lucroy almost killed the inning. francisco brings in a run. 3-0 brewers. weeks with another hit
  16. hart screwed up by not getting ther surgery done in october. not only did he cost himself money but he screwed the brewers out of getting a trade for him.
  17. what a matchup. prospect vs prospect. gerrit cole vs hellweg. hopefully hellweg wins the battle. i think that the pirates might have over done it with the fireworks. you couldn't see anything near homeplate during the aoki at bat.
  18. so the Brewers take 2 out 3 against the Braves, but drop 2 out of 3 to the Astros and Cubs?
  19. I agree on so many levels. Trust me, there may not be a person on this planet that hates the Cardinals more than I do. However, when do you ever see the Cardinals do stupid things like the Brewers? It almost never happens. They draft players that are smart. They hire coaches that are smart. RRR is not smart. RRR doesn't when know to call for sac bunts, hit and runs, squeeze, what pinch hitters to use, etc. A smart manager would have noticed that Marcum was slowing down in September and shut him down. A smart GM would have realized that he needed a backup plan for Marcum. A smart manager does not start Yuni at SS and Mark Kotsay at CF during a playoff game. This team will not succeed as long as stupidity runs rampant throughout the organization. Everything starts at the top. Melvin makes stupid roster decisions that leaves the manager stuck with stupid players. The manager, who is already stupid, then proceeds to make stupid decisions with stupid players. It's a non-stop cycle of stupidity that frustrates the hell out of fans. Even our best player is guilty of doing stupid things. I've seen Braun swing many times on 3-0 counts. There's no need to be greedy. Just play smart baseball. It's so simple. I hate La Russa but most of the time, he made smart decisions. Attanasio should hire consultants for the managerial hire. Grill the candidates with questions regarding situational baseball decisions.
  20. It's the simple way they screw it up too. Segura takes strike 3 looking. Lucroy swings at what is probably a ball on a 3-0 pitch and pops up and Yuni hits it decently, but right at someone and we send Weeks anyway and he's out by a mile. The first two are worse IMO because the infield was back. Yuni's ball would have scored the run in either of those cases. I hate the sac bunt in the 9th there and I hate virtually everything RR does as a manager, consistently putting the team in situations it struggles to succeed. RRR doesn't know when to be aggressive on the bases and when to be passive. Smart coaches would have told Lucroy to be patient on 3-0. The heat was on the pitcher in that situation. Weeks doesn't have the speed he used to have. The only guys on this team that I would try that with is Gomez, Aoki, and Segura. I wouldn't have called for the sac bunt anyways with Yuni. My Yuni strategy is to tell him to find a way to get plunked. Yuni is that bad of a baseball player. I used to say that this team was not as bad as the record said that they were. I take it back. They are bad and worthy of their record. This team needs new coaches and smarter players. I'm tired of watching them blow games because of stupid silly little mistakes.
  21. this is the dumbest team in baseball by a landslide. this team has no idea how to play fundamental baseball. why on earth these 3rd base coaches send guys on short ground balls is beyond me. why betancourt is even on the major league is a mystery to me. unbelieveable. 3 times they have been in this situation and all 3 times they screwed it up. jesus freaking christ
  22. here we go again. a man on 3rd with 1 out. do it right this time
  23. still shaking my head over lucroy swinging 3-0. i wonder if the hitting coach is telling them to swing away or if that was lucrot's decision. nice double by weeks. hopefully they tie this up
  24. about time francisco did something. if the brewers were capable of hitting a sac fly this game would be tied
