Peralta has been decent this year. He's done well for a rookie. The only questionable starts have been the start at Wrigley and the last Cardinals game. Peralta was pitching well at Wrigley until he crumbled in the 7th. The Cardinal game was lucky Cardinal garbage. The strikeouts will come for Willy.

please do not speak of that awful season. i still have nightmares about that NLCS I'm happy to have a recent memory of the Brewers playing in a League Championship Series It was a fun season but it ended on such a sour note. If it had been anyone else it wouldn't hurt as much. It had to be the damn Cardinals. I still remember Fielder's final at bat. The last standing ovation was a sad moment. Little by little the Brewers I grew up with are breaking up. JJ Hardy is gone, Fielder is gone, Counsell is gone, Hart and Weeks might not be here for long. YUNIBOMBER!!!

I'm waiting for the Brewers to come down here to Texas later in the season. Bad back and all, I am still going to at least one game. The Brewers only make it down here every three years. I'm stuck in Vegas. I'd have to travel to Cali or Phoenix to catch the Brewers. It's so weird not being able to see the Brewers in person anymore. I had been going to games for years. Bad luck for Weeks there. He hit that one pretty well.

if i still lived in milwaukee this would be a game i'd go to. we haven't seen too much of texas the last few years. i'm favor of cancelling that boring Brewers and Twins series. I'd rather play the west coast teams more often. Brewers/Yankees would be a more intriguing matchup

My issue with calling up Gennett now, as I stated earlier, is that he's not going to be the difference btw. postseason & no-postseason. I would like to see him put in more time at Nashville, personally, to continue to work on his defense & hopefully develop a better power stroke against higher-level pitching. Also, save his service time. On Olmsted -- he doesn't look ready yet this season. He's had his issues so far: 14 IP, 14 BB/15 K, 6.43 ERA as of tonight. Compare that to his 2012 MiLB numbers: 59.1 IP, 1.52 ERA, 15 BB/92 K (no, that's not a typo!). Hard to say what the cause of his command problems is... maybe some disappointment at not making the big club & repeating AAA after a dominant '12? Who knows. The arm is definitely there, and I'd rather he also keeps getting work with Nashville. No reason to add another wild arm to the disaster-party that is the big club's bullpen; let him sort out the command first & then call him up. For me, the sad truth is that there just isn't much bullpen help down in Nashville. I'm not confident that anyone there right now can come up & be an improvement, which is just painful. I'm looking forward to seeing Victor Roache in person more, as I've probably mentioned a few too many times already on this subforum. I'm heading to Friday's game (trying out the new club level seating, too) & really looking forward to it. The only other T-Rats game I went to this season, I missed McFarland, so hoping to see him as well. I'm real excited about Victor Roache and Clint Coulter. I have no worries regarding the Brewers hitting prospects. We seem to do a good job of developing hitters. It's the pitching the scares me. It seems like our only options this year are to hope that our current BP guys work out or we sign a veteran and hope we get lucky. This Cardinals series has been a real downer. It's a long season though. Yuni and Gonzalez could be alternative options at 2B. Gonzalez is garbage on offense but his defense is still better than Weeks'. Weeks and Gonzalez are almost equally bad offensively. At least Gonzalez still makes smart plays on -defense. That would be a non-Gennett option.

I agree 100% that the Brewers should never settle for adequate. If there are better options in next years FA, we should take a look. In May our best option is to call up Gennett. He's the most ready prospect at the position. I really don't want the Brewers to trade away prospects to fix 2B either. Weeks right now gets an F grade as a player. If Gennett can be a C it makes a heck of a difference. I don't mean to stray off topic but what do you think of Olmstead? Is he ready for a call up? The might have to start looking for alternative option regarding Axford.

At this point we don't need someone special at 2B. We just need someone that is going to get on base. I'm fine with Gennett being ''Captain Single''. As long he gets on base that's fine. To me the ideal 2B hits a minimum of .280 and plays a minimum of slightly above average defense. I think that Gennett can hit above .280 and improve his defense. If his defense is already average it means that he won't be the Mr. Errors. Really as your players don't make errors and routinely make the simple plays, all is good. We've been trotting out Braun in left and his defense isn't that great. I can't think of a time when a defensive mistake from Braun cost us a game. I may be wrong on that seeing as how it's difficult to remember hundreds of game, that and Braun almost never does something bad.

I was thinking about it and I think a Terry Francona type would be good for the Brewers. A Bob Melvin type would be good for the team as well. I don't think his lineups are bad. I do question his management of the pen at times. Even then it's not that bad. But the most annoyning thing about him is his love of the bunt. I don't want to see good hitters like Aoki and Segura bunting. Those are guys that you let swing away. I am fine with his squeeze attempts. I just think he should use them a little less, that way it is more surprising. What I just flat out can't stand about him is his lack of fire. I don't like that he doesn't back his guys up against an umpire. I don't like that he's stubbornly loyal to players. Axford and Weeks should have been demoted by now. I think he's average. He's not bad but he's not good either. His stubborness will lose you some games, but he's capable of winning you some. I'd give him a C grade. It's just my preference that the team hires a manager with some fire in him. I don't want a hardcore fiery Bobby Valentine type. That is too much. I just want a manager that knows when to fire up the players and yell at an ump and when not to. RRR is the extreme of passive. RRR is a like grandpa. He's calm and passive and doesn't like to yell. Our manager is a grandpa

if only the brewers could be so lucky. i dont think anyone would trade a bag of doritos for him at this point. not only is he bad, but he's expensive considering his level of production. only way i think the crew will be able to trade him is if they eat the rest of the contract. for that i rather keep him on the bench. at least if he's on the bench he can't hurt the team. who know maybe as a bench player he might get a lucky hit or two.

The guy is one of the worst managers in baseball. i'm tired of him having players bunt. im tired of his pansy approach to the game. im tired of him trotting out axford game after game. im tired of him not ripping into the players for playing like gutless cowards against our top division rival. im just tired of him. he's a huge disappointment considering the fact that he's a student of mike scioscia. i want an aggressive manager. i want a manager that isn't afraid to yell at the umps. i want a manager that isn't afraid to call for the bean ball to avenge our guys. i want a manager that will rip into his players when they play like crap. roenicke will never be that guy. im so tired of the brewers getting beat by the cardinals and reds. year after year this team gets slapped around by the cards and reds. its embarrassing. we can't compete for a division title if we cant beat our top rivals. getting swept in a 4 game series at home is really bad. the guy even had the nerve to say that he was upset that axford was booed after blowing the pirates game. seriously man? the fans have been extra patient with axford. he deserved to get booed. when you suck you deserved to get chewed out. if you want to help the guy then send him down to the minors. roenicke is hurting axford by continuing to trot him out there like a sacrificial lamb. i feel bad for axford. i have no idea why this has happened to him. he was a guy that was dominant his first two seasons and then disappeared. the team needs to give him some time off. maybe he will find his magic again. all i know is we cant keep sending him out there. bad axford has cost us games. this team is just frustrating as hell. rant over.

It wouldnt hurt to find out if he can. The team has to start looking at other options. If Gennett flops then nothing changes. Weeks at this point is basically doing nothing.

what have the brewers got to lose at this point? what if we call up gennett and he plays well? that would be another impact bat added to the lineup. power numbers aren't everything. you can never have enough guys that get on base consistently. weeks is a good guy and most of us wish he could go back to his old ways. this isn't spring training. every game counts now. the time for experimentation has come and gone. the best possible move for the team is to give the young guy his chance. weeks has had plenty of opportunities to show that he's still got something in him. he hasn't shown anything. what kind of a message does it send to the minor leaguers if we keep trotting weeks out there? the message of we'll keep starting you even if your poor play hurts the team isn't a good one. thats a loser mentality. when a guy isn't getting the job done you give him a chance to fix himself. if he still cant getthe job done after you've given him a second chance, you find a replacement. weeks is now in the position that the previous 2B was in. the old guy wasn't cutting it so the team gave the young weeks a chance. it ended up working out. weeks has declined and the time has come to find a replacement. the team has nothing to lose at this point. starting gennett answers questions.

how the hell am I supposed to get excited about a team that routinely gets smacked by its top division rivals. year after year we get our @sses handed to us by the reds and cardinals. yeah its fun beating up on the scrubs and pirates, but we need to start showing up against the division rivals. reds and cardinals are good. those two wil fight for the division and the other will be in the wild card race. since we can't beat either of them its hard to get excited about this team. the sad thing is that i was expecting a series loss anyways. i would have been happy with a split. at least a split would have meant that we managed to avoid losing the series on home turf. this crap gets old.

Awesome post TheCrew07. That's what I was looking for. It looks like we might end up seeing more of the same if these guys pan out. A team with hitters and decent pitching. Our best pitching prospects project to be #2's at best. That's not a bad thing but it sucks not having a future ace. Most of them will probably end up being 3's, 4's, and 5's. Lopez is the most intriguing one. He's very young and he's shown potential. Maybe two to three years from now he could improve enough to be considered a possible ace. I think the Crew will be able to count on Gallardo and Estrada for the next 3 years. Lohse migh be good another 2 or three. Burgos might end up being a solid pitcher. That's 4 guys right there. Willy is our big hope. Some people have said he could end up being an ace. What is your opinion on Willy? He's pretty young and has shown good stuff.

How does our farm system rank with the rest of league? I know that the Brewers are kind of thin when it comes to future star prospects. I don't follow the minor leagues much, but I know that some of our top hitting prospects are Hunter Morris, Clint Coulter, Tyrone Taylor, Scooter Gennett, and Clint Coulter. What are those guys projected to be? On the pitching side the Brewers have Ariel Pena, Jimmy Nelson, Jed Bradley, Tyler Thornburg, Jorge Lopez, Taylor Jungmann, and Johnny Hellweg. What are the projections for those guys?
