  1. Honestly Barnes seems to be executing fine. 2 easy grounders so far. Perez just screwed one up
  2. I think Chase stays in if he's pitching better. Command hasn't been good. Too many walks and too many hard hit balls, just a matter of time.
  3. Yup, lots of good hitters in that lineup. They are going to hit balls hard regardless of who's on the mound. Wow, Saladino pinch hitting. This will be interesting. Pen better be up to the challenge. I'm ok with it with him leading off the inning. Hopefully he can get on for the top of the order.
  4. I think after this inning, probably go to a PH. I also forgot that Peralta will be available for an inning or two if needed. There is no shortage of options and no reason to save anyone for tomorrow.
  5. Braun might. He's made quite a few nice catches lately, and he'd probably be positioned different from Granderson. This one is primarily about speed. I believe Braun gets there for sure. Even Perez might get there as he's fairly fast. Yelich/Cain/Broxton obviously get there. It was a good play but let's not get too carried away.
  6. We can look at Burnes/Woodruff to bridge the gap. I would say if we have 2 on with his spot up, probably should go for the offense.
  7. Might have to find a way to get Granderson in the lineup more. Dude is raking.
  8. AT least we got out of it. That's a really tough one for Thames, tough to know where you are.
  9. The tag by Shaw was good as well. Overshadowed by the throw. That right there is why I like Pina in there over Kratz. Defense at the catcher position can't be understated.
  10. Naturally I had to say something, right afterward he paints the corner with consecutive FB and gets a GIDP.
  11. Hendricks seems to be struggling with FB and CB command a bit. Changeup is excellent and his command is very good with that pitch. Will be interesting to see if he can find it.
  12. Are you counting how many solo homers he gives up in a row? I sure hope not...
  13. Overall a good start to the game. 1 run and made Hendricks work a bit. 1-2-3 for Anderson please.
  14. I saw so much crying from Cubs fans on twitter and such about how bad the weather's going to be, how mlb is trying to screw them, etc. Reality is they feel entitled to special treatment and are crying foul because they aren't getting it. I don't see Baltimore cancelling their game that day and that stadium is no further away from the hurricane. Their arguments are general on par with the level of intelligence that wildly cheers for the 200 foot fly ball. They really should just thank their lucky stars that Scherzer will be given an extra day of rest and won't be pitching tomorrow.
  15. I felt like the reason we got these other reinforcements was to generally avoid having to play Perez, yet he's starting more often than not. I'd rather see Saladino or Arcia than Perez. Both are better defenders. The right call is probably Saladino, but for some reason Perez gets another start. In fairness, it annoys me less for him to play SS than any other spot. In general though, Perez should be the utility guy that can play anywhere and provide adequate defense...but you really don't want to ever play. Not the guy you find every last excuse to find a spot in the lineup for.
  16. I mean, anytime you have the chance to start a guy with a 554 OPS over the last 28 days...you have to do it right?
  17. Why does Perez get to play every day? I'm seriously at a loss here... Official Lineup: Granderson RF Yelich LF Cain CF Shaw 2b Moose 3b Perez SS Thames 1b Pina C
  18. And Carpenter strikes out to end the game. Cardinals lose!
  19. Couple that with a decent chunk of the AA team that gets bumped to a non-launching pad AAA team. I think AAA is going to be crazy loaded with top organizational prospects next year.
  20. Imagine the twittersphere and this site if they sit Cain in the biggest game of the year with a day off tomorrow. Reminder, Cain is 0 for 12 career against Hendricks. That said, I still think you play him. If anything, sit Braun in favor of Granderson in LF. Or in favor of Broxton for elite OF defense with a flyball pitcher on the mound. He can be our 8 spot punted lineup spot with likely no Arcia today.
  21. I tend to agree. Theoretically if MLB expands to 32 teams, they could reshuffle to 4 divisions of 4 teams like football and add a 6th playoff team in each league. Have the 2 wildcards play the 2 worst division teams in a 3 game series, the 2 best records advance to the DS. That wouldn't take overly long. First game at the wildcard teams stadium, travel day, potentially 2 games at the division winner. That's 6 days in between games for the 2 division winners instead of the current 4...I feel like that solves lot of problems. Best records get more of a reward, and eliminates the all or nothing 1 game situation. Might have to shave a few regular season games off the schedule to make that work.
  22. Man would I feel slimy all over if I had to root for Molina and the Cardinals.
  23. Hendricks has been good against the Brewers, but those numbers don't reflect having Moose and Granderson in the lineup for the Crew. Hoping Thames gets the start at 1st and Granderson in the OF. Thames has a 929 OPS against Hendricks, Shaw 1157, Schoop 1500(limited ABs). Couple those 3 with Moose and Granderson could help a lot. All of Yelich, Cain, Braun, Perez, Santana, Broxton, and pina have pretty bad career numbers against Hendricks. Notably Cain is 0 for 12 career and Yelich 3 for 17. Hendricks change-up really neutralizes LHB to the point that he's equally effective against either side of the plate. I think it's important to stagger RH and LH as much as we can against him.
