    I'll be honest, these 6 games make me more nervous than any other series we have left...even the Cardinals series. Flashbacks to that 5 game series where they wrecked us. Even in later series that we won games, they were always so close and played us very tough. None of these 6 games will be easy, it does help the Kuhl is done for the year and we don't have to face him.

    I'll add that you should probably care the 2nd most about the Dbacks winning and staying in the hunt. They play the cubs next Monday-Wednesday in Arizona. I'm sure they'd put up a much tougher fight if they were within striking range of the wildcard or division still. If they lose 2 of the next 3, might not care much. It's a somewhat similar situation with the cardinals. It would definitely be best for them to hang around to some degree as they face the Cubs to close the season, but they are close enough to us in the standings that we want them to lose for now...we just don't want them losing 8 of 10 or something and falling completely out of contention.

    I can't imagine him forfeiting that money. But even if he does, that guy has made plenty of $. His family should be set up for generations.

    I agree this a a worse stretch than the Brewers back to back 21 then 20 games in a row stretch. I do think however that the Brewers would have been better suited to deal with a 30 game stretch in September than the Cubs are. That is a hidden disadvantage of trading all your top minor league talent away. Finally as far as how they are handling it it's too early to tell how they will deal with it wins and loses wise but they sure complained about it far more than the Brewers did. I love that you came back to their garbage farm system. Great point.

    I know Dbacks are competition for us, but we should be pulling for them to do well for the next week or so. We want them to feel like they still have a shot when they face the Cubs early next week.

    I can't see a single baseball fan having animosity towards this guy. Even if he was a cub I'd be somewhat pulling for the guy.

    To feel comfortable that we will win it outright, my number is 95 and has been for over a month. I think we need to go 11-4. The Cubs are stumbling now a bit but I don't think that lasts long. The Cubs going 10-7 requires us to go 11-4 to beat them outright. Their schedule isn't exactly easy, but it gets much easier from a travel standpoint very soon. They might struggle over the next week with the reds and traveling to AZ, but after that they get a much needed day off and 2 layup series followed by what could be a very tough series against the cards. Let's say they get 2 of the next 4 and 1 of 3 in AZ. I can't see them winning less than 5 of those 7 layups. That leaves them 8-6 against the cards and probably either 10-7 or 9-8 over those 17. So I think 11-4 is a safe record down the stretch to get the division. Anything worse than that and we'll need help from the cubs.

    I would argue what they are doing is technically against the rules and shouldn't be allowed by MLB. Unfortunately MLB keeps looking the other way. If changing game times for competitive reasons and cancelling game for fictitious rainouts is allowed, the Brewers apparently should try harder to utilize shady tactics to provide them an advantage. I mean, come on guy. You have some unusual takes at times but this is one of your worst...

    Changing them for competitive reasons is different than for TV/financial reasons. An extreme scenario, maybe the Brewers should have changed the final home game of ours to 11 pm on the 5th since the Cubs had to be in DC for a game at 6 the next day and we had Thursday off. That would have been total crap, teams should not be allowed to change game times for competitive reasons. This is a more extreme situation and a bit different than the one last year. I was much more upset about switching the time last year. This one is a bit of an extreme situation caused by weather. I don't like it, but it's slightly less BS than the switch last year...and far and away less BS than the "rainout" game. I'm sure there are rules about changing start times, and both teams probably have to agree to it. Given the situation, I don't really have an issue with it. It should have been done earlier, but the Cubs were probably hoping that the league would do change the makeup game due to weather anyway. Also they may have had to wait for city approval if changing the time exceeded their night game limit. Does anyone know what that limit is? I remember that it was initially 18 games per season, but it is a lot more now. I can definitively say both teams do not have to agree. Last year the Cubs played their first Friday night game in their history against the Brewers, and the Brewers voiced their concern because it was obvious BS. And again, that "rainout". This time change might not even be on my radar if these other 2 much worse scheduling changes for competitive reasons hadn't happened. Cubs management is pure trash.

    Oh I had almost literally the same thoughts. My thought was 'this guy's going to be a manager someday', but definitely could go the TV route smoothly too. I could see the TV route simply because of how likeable that guy is. I doubt many in baseball have a bad thing to say about him. Add that to being incredibly sharp and how he speaks...he's definitely going to do as well as he wants once he's done playing baseball, sky is the limit.

    Granderson in the lineup leaves two of Braun/Aguilar/Thames on the bench. Right now that's obviously going to be Aguilar a significant amount of the time, but Braun is going to play more than Granderson down the stretch...no matter how hot Granderson gets at the plate.

    I can't believe they are playing that game today in DC. Mostly cloudy, upper 70s high, 10 mph wind, basically 0 chance of rain. All the residents of DC should take shelter from such terrible weather. MLB is actively trying to screw the cubs by forcing them to play in this.

    Thames is going to start playing a lot again. We faced an insane run of left-handed pitchers the last few weeks. With Aguilar slumping a bit, Thames is going to get a lot of starts against righty starters. Yes this is absolutely true. Thames hasn't looked terrible at the plate lately, but I think he's going to have to show a lot to make a postseason roster at this point. With how Granderson and Santana have looked so far. Couple that with the fact that Shaw can play some 1b.

    Yeah, I was cheering like a Cubs fan on fly ball on that liner. Initially cheering for a hard hit line drive in the gap is WAAYYYY different than cheering for a lazy 200 foot fly ball that will get down 1 out of 100 times.

    Honestly you have to give Rosario a bit of credit there. That strike 3 pitch was excellent. Thames was simply outmatched. I'm more annoyed with Moustakas not taking his walk to start the inning

    And what did Barnes do that posts or this are flying? Two choppers. Right? Isn't a chopper like that basically the best possible result besides a strikeout?
