  1. That's dumb. I feel like that all but secures our spot in Fresno. Sounds like Texas is getting Nashville, so maybe we get lucky and can get San Antonio...but I suspect the Nationals will get it.
  2. I was wrong on this one. I liked the target, but hated giving up so much. Part of it was I really wanted to see Brinson in a Brewers uniform, but after what I've seen I'm not that interested. He probably need a team like the Marlins that he could take his lumps for a year or two. At this point, one or two more years like this one and we'll win almost regardless of what Brinson does.
  3. I don't think the dbacks have announced a game 2 starter, but I like that they are seeing Corbin and Ray. I think the Cubs lineup matches up against RH better than LH right now with Bryant not quite 100%.
  4. I'm expecting a lineup today of Granderson, Yelich, Cain, Aguilar, Moustakas, Schoop, Kratz, Arcia, P. Obviously Braun may play, but Granderson has good numbers career against descalfini while braun hasn't been great. It is also possible Shaw fills in at 2b for Schoop, but with Miley out there I think we stick with primo defense. I would be extremely surprised if Shaw played 3rd today.
  5. It's a huge deal that we are missing Castillo in the rotation. He's always been tough on us. It is somewhat helpful that Iglesias pitched yesterday. If they were in a tie game in the 9th, might shy away from using him again today. Also they definitely seem to have a short start lined up Tuesday when Lorenzen pitches. I know he could pitch maybe 5 innings max if he's rolling, but I doubt that happens. We almost certainly need 2 or 3 this series and to close the gap by 1 game. Pitching matchups are lined up as well as they can be to make that happen.
  6. The dbacks should still feel like they have a chance. Not a great chance, but they do have a series left against both the rockies and dodgers after this. They need minimum 2 of 3 though to keep their dreams reasonably alive. I'd be all good with 3 of 3 though.
  7. Is it just me, or has Arcia been putting togehter much better at bats lately? Not just today with the 3 hits, but in general he's not swinging at crap and his approach is just way better.
  8. I think we should be more concerned about the dbacks winning and staying close than anything. REminder the dbacks play the cubs monday-wednesday next week. That's probably our best chance at the cubs losing 2 or 3 games in a series the rest of the year. We want the dbacks still in contention. Plus, it would be nice if they caught and passed either the dodgers or cards.
  9. I think 2b is his best position followed by SS and 3b. He's at least adequate at 7 spots.
  10. That was a good piece of hitting. He got the FB up and it was away. Good swing, it'll happen to a guy throwing 88-91.
  11. Boo yah, 2 run bomb. 15 pitches for archer, no outs, 2 runs. Excellent start to the series
  12. I did initially on mlb at bat. I was listening to the pirates broadcast until about halfway through the 1st. Then I was fine.
  13. I believe we would not have home field advantage. I'll be happy simply to get to that point.
  14. This would be my lineup as well. I would be very surprised if Granderson started over Braun today. Granderson has looked good, but it's also been about 15 AB. Braun is the better player and he's playing pretty well right now. Eventually the line drives will fall in.
  15. Agreed. I think the next couple games will be very telling in that regard.
  16. Ray specifically might be a reach, but I see your point and generally understand the logic.
  17. The list is short for players that have faced Archer more or had greater success than Schoop and Cain. Would be shocked if either gets the day off today. Shaw is in that conversation too from his time in Boston. All 3 of those guys should be in the lineup today.
  18. I think Schoop has been playing less SS in part because of the string of lefties...and he's been using Perez at SS. I don't think we are completely done seeing Schoop at SS.
  19. Aguilar has even admitted to being tired, both physically and mentally. Playing Thames or Shaw is moreso to give Aguilar an extended break. Maybe they decide 2 games is enough, I personally think more games because of how bad his PH appearance was on Wednesday. Aguilar is still clearly our best 1b, but only when he's right.
  20. Given how the Brewers shuttle their players in options-years, do you really want them playing planes, trains, and automobiles to get anywhere? I’ll take direct flights everywhere for $1000 please I was going to make this point as well. Vegas is almost an ideal location because of the travel/flights situation...especially considering it's AAA and how often we shuttle between the two. Vegas would be my first choice of the 4 options. Both Nashville and San Antonio would be decent though unlikely alternatives. Fresno is clearly the worst option. I feel like Texas and Washington will end up with Nashville and San Antonio one way or another, i think it's down to us vs Oakland for Vegas.
  21. I'm 100% on board with a day off for Aguilar, heck even 2 more days off and let the LH bats play more. I'd probably give Thames a start today, but can also get behind shaw at 1b. I probably should have included Perez in my lineup somewhere. Even though it makes no sense, he'll probably find his way into the lineup.
  22. I doubt Rosario gets save opportunities. Cishek and Chavez probably, maybe Wilson if 2 of 3 are lefties. Strop was really the only reliever in their bullpen that was on another level. Morrow will probably be eased back into the role over the next week or 2 if he's effective. We'll see though. It would be nice if Hamels wasn't crazy good today and only went 4 or 5 innings.
  23. You have to feel for Strop, but man it is really nice to see Maddon's dreadful managing finally come back to bite him. Strop had pitched 1.2 innings already and it was a key spot in the 10th to tack on more runs. If any of his other good relievers were available, Strop probably gets pulled for a PH here to likely extend the lead. But Maddon had used something like 9 other relievers already that game and had nobody left that he trusted...so he sent Strop out to hit. I would be furious with him if I was a Cubs fan. Seriously, what an idiot.
  24. The reds just got done taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers and won 4 of their last 6. Keep it rolling for 3 more days and then suck terribly next week Monday-Wednesday
  25. Schoop, Shaw, and cain all have very good numbers against Archer career. Also Arcia and Pina have taken Archer deep in limited AB. Yelich has struggled career against Archer, but I doubt he sits out today. My guess on lineup is Cain, Yelich, Shaw, Braun, Schoop, Thames, Pina, Arcia. I personally would switch Cain/Yelich to stagger the lefties, but with Yelich hitting better against lefties I suppose you don't really have to do that.
