  1. Our road to the playoffs just got more difficult...
  2. I know it's a small sample, but with Broxton career 2 for 3 against Romano I would start him today and give either Cain or Yelich a day off. Also a small reward for the big hit yesterday. OF of Broxton, Braun, Thames. Then give Braun off tomorrow.
  3. Eric Thames is a combined 5 for 5 with 5 HR against Garrett and Stephenson. If he isn't available to start today, he should definitely be used as a pinch hitter against Garrett today if the situation arises. And Stephenson starts tomorrow, hopefully he can get in the lineup for that one.
  4. It's really going to be an interesting 6 weeks. I have to figure the Dodgers are gonna bully their way past the Rockies soon, and a 5 way tie with some combination is really a possibility. Milwaukee + 0.5 Phillies Cardinals Colorado ____________ Dodgers - - - 2 Pittsburgh -- 6 Nationals - - 6.5 San Fran --- 7 Imagine if the Cubs lose 5 of 7 or something and fall back into the pack...
  5. I wonder what the chances are that Harper actually moves. Probably very low. Adams is very likely to be either traded or let walk. Murphy is probably more likely than not...maybe 50-60%. Harper is probably closer to 10%.
  6. I think the Dbacks or Rockies probably claimed him, I would guess Rockies. They could use his stick at 1b. I feel like the odds of him actually leaving the Nationals are relatively slim though.
  7. Looked better than Hamilton. Those were some of the worst swings I have ever seen. I would prefer a few more strikes to Peraza. Jennings and Williams should probably be loosening up just in case...
  8. Jeffress does not look sharp here... I'll add I'm streaming the game so I'm at least 2 pitches behind everyone...
  9. Depending on the specific hitters coming up, I'd also be ok letting Jennings try the save.
  10. Wow, I stand corrected. Note that we go into tomorrow with neither of them available then.... Better than saving one of them for tomorrow just to get blown out 8-2 tomorrow. Or even worse save one, Burnes/Knebel blows it today, and we get blown out tomorrow 8-2. I'm not bashing the decision. I get it, try to lock down the win. The decision has that consequence though. If it gets to 3 runs here I hope Jeffress sits down and Knebel gets the call...or Burnes.
  11. Wow, I stand corrected. Note that we go into tomorrow with neither of them available then....
  12. Perez vs righties somewhat better then Shaw vs lefties. The stats may say that this season, but I generally disagree. Small sample
  13. It sure would be nice if put a few runs up and made the decision easier for CC.
  14. That might be the closest thing to a tie I've seen in baseball.
  15. Could be. I'm anticipating Burnes then Knebel. I don't think He'd go 2 innings with Hader here.
  16. You all realize with Hader pitching the 7th, the likely plan is Knebel in the 9th. Take a few innings to mentally prepare yourselves...
  17. That wasn't a terrible pitch either. Up and away to a lefty, nice piece of hitting there.
  18. What I'm trying to imply...is that Lyles should definitely pitch multiple innings here...
  19. Planning ahead for this game, I know he won't do it...but it sure looks like a game we should try to keep at a 1 run deficit to give us a chance. Reality is we have 3 innings left to score one...once Iglesias is in there it's as good as over.
  20. Bandy > Kratz I was gonna say, that's probably not the best argument considering our catching situation. Bandy would be better for defensive reasons alone. I fail to come up with a single good argument for Kratz being on the roster. We have at least 4 better options in the minors than him. And yes, I'm counting McDowell as a plus defender would be just fine even with a 500 ops...better than a dreadful defender with a 550 ops.
  21. With the exception of Stearns Be careful, JohnBriggs will be here any second posting about all the dingers Khris Davis is hitting in Oakland...sorta kinda blue
