  1. Regarding Frelick, as exciting as it would be to replace Taylor against RHP, Frelick probably isn't going to be a superstar player. He has basically 10 hr power maybe, that profile doesn't become an all-star too often. And it remains to be seen if he'll be able to barrel up MLB pitching at the same rate(with a slight dropoff) as AAA pitching. Facing guys like Lindblom is a lot different than facing Gonsolin or Stroman. I also fully expect he'll start his career here batting 9th.
  2. Urias probably makes the most sense, I just can't see us demoting him. Brosseau for me makes the most sense despite him raking against lefties. Wong at 2b, Urias at 3b. It's only a couple days after all.
  3. He's actually not really a classic backup because he's not a great defensive catcher. Usually for a backup you want a stud on defense and are willing to sacrifice offense. Caratini is a 2nd division starter or aaaa.
  4. Ahhhh yes, the umpire being clearly wrong and getting upset when he gets called on it by the player...and the player is the one that gets tossed. Just how it's supposed to work
  5. If frelick comes up, I think he does start most days and probably bats 9. He's not about to unseat yelich in the leadoff spot. I also think for this season, he'd platoon with Taylor which is fine. Here's hoping it happens August 24
  6. Even then, they still can. But then most people leave and all that's left are the whiny cry babies...
  7. I completely understand giving your best pitcher some rope. Maybe I pull him before lux but otherwise it's hard to question cc here. None of our top 5 options pitched yesterday so I'd assume they are all available today.
  8. I suspect counsel wanted to give urias a day of today specifically, otherwise maybe brosseau plays 1st or Wong sits. Urias could have tweaked something and need day.
  9. It's honestly wild how good they are at the farm. They trade a top 10 prospect and 2 more pop up. On top of that, they are 10 steps ahead of everyone in that they seem to know which guys will truly be quality major leaguers and which guys peak as a top prospect but won't cut it at the mlb level...and manage to maximize value quite often. It's frustrating as anything but you absolutely have to respect how good that franchise is run. It's hard to imagine them not being a world series contender at any point this decade.
  10. Lol this guy. They faced Washington, cincy, Washington. We faced Tampa, st Louis, dodgers. There's a reason we're contending and they aren't...
  11. We have one more game against a sub 3 era starter and then we go to Chicago, so this weekend we should score more.
  12. The dodgers have gotten way better since. The lineup is much better than the 2019 lineup. In 2019 they were very good, but platoon heavy. They didn't have anyone like mookie/Freeman/trea.
  13. Not gonna disagree, not all GMs bat 1.000..And he should get away with it considering the rest of the roster
  14. No guarantee they'll play everyone this tough, but they've played very good baseball and battled arguably the best roster baseball has seen in at least 20 years that is also playing extremely well right now got one win out of three... while keeping the other 2 close. With burnes tomorrow we just might split the series...
  15. We could have 2 MVP yelichs and not be as good as the dodgers on paper. This team has the best gm in sports, the best farm, the most money...naturally the roster is just stupid good. Everyone in their lineup is a multi all star and all their pitchers are sub 3 era.
  16. If we play everyone this tough the rest of the way, we're gonna spank the bad teams silly and make the playoffs...
  17. He pitched 2 innings yesterday. Makes way more sense to use a good reliever and try to keep it at one. This feels like a forfeit
  18. Probably because he's the best option, and you generally don't make big lineup changes over a 9 game sample...
  19. I think Bill likes and respects BA, not so much the rest of the guys he's paired with. He's also seemingly approaching the "I don't give a crap" part of his career. That's my take anyways
  20. Plays like this are where the focus on defense is so huge. Who knows how many runs and/or how many extra pitches lauer has to throw if they get just one or possibly zero outs if those guys don't play it so well...
  21. I feel like if this game is 4 or less runs, the brewers might win. If it's more than 4 we're probably screwed. Gonsolin is incredible and shuts down most offenses. I know some on here consider it a colossal failure if we don't put up 10 runs on everyone, but temper expectations. Let's hope lauer can put up zeroes and keep it close...
  22. Why even watch if you're gonna be this pessimistic?
  23. I've had issues with some of his decision making as well over the past couple seasons. Many are small, my biggest one this season is not giving Hiura more atbats. His upside this season is so much higher than McCutchen, they needed to give him the atbats against MLB quality pitching during the season to try and tap into his immense upside. His use has been so stupid that I want us to sell low just to give the guy a chance elsewhere. He's not getting a fair shot and it's disheartening considering his talent. I also generally fear next season when guys like Turang and Frelick come up, that we'll see CC put Jace/Taylor in for those guys way too often and they'll get intermittent atbats and bounce between AAA/MLB.
