  1. I'm going with a solid C. I liked the hader trade a lot. Hader has blown it twice in big spots, I wonder if he's really the guy in that critical spot against the best players. I generally liked the bush trade, he's definitely at minimum our 3rd best reliever immediately. I'm skeptical of the Rosenthal trade, but I'm going to hope the FO knows what they are doing on that one. 8-10 good innings in September and maybe 3 per series in the post season would make that trade a huge W, but a lot of risk that he never even pitches this season. I'm happy to see the brewers trying to stretch the competitive window and not simply accept that we're doomed for a rebuild when we lose burnes and woodruff. There's a real chance that other guys will step up and we can remain competitive going forward beyond 2024. This deadline was a step in that direction.
  2. We have 4 outfielders in AAA that are better than Brett Phillips.
  3. It's hilarious that anyone would even consider the chance he would opt out. as a free agent, he'd get a minor league deal with ST invite, that's his current skill level. Considering the 10 and 5 rights, there's extremely high chance he's traded by 5. one way or another.
  4. This return seems light to me at first, adding Gore makes it seem really bad for SD though.
  5. I had this thought immediately, that we might have to deal with Soto in the wildcard round if SD is the 6 seed. I feel like they are more likely to be the 5 seed especially adding Soto, but still a legit concern.
  6. I don't understand the purpose. Your post above pushes a lot of political and other boundaries that aren't allowed on this site. The purpose of this forum is brewers/baseball. You and Jopal aren't better humans than everyone else on this site because you get all mad that the Brewers traded for a guy with a criminal past. I strongly believe that most on here don't care for that crap and want to stick to a baseball discussion...which is again the purpose of the site.
  7. Jeez holy cow can we stick to baseball and not being self-righteous weinies on a brewer fan site geared towards talking baseball. My goodness 4 pages and 3 of them are nothing but virtue signaling.
  8. I like the idea of focusing on the trade more than virtue signaling on a brewer fan forum. Bush has been pretty darn good in the first half and generally good the last few years. I'm not sure we really NEEDED an arm with the guys coming back, but he's better than at least one player in the bullpen and will likely pitch meaningful innings down the stretch. I would probably rate him somewhere in the boxberger/gott/Milner range.
  9. Yeah I'm definitely disappointed in the return. Rodgers is good but a rental. We save salary, gassers scouting report seems like a back end rotation guy. Lamet I recognize the name but he's not been good lately. Ruiz I'm not sure on. All that said, hader has blown it twice in the post season now. I don't think he's the guy for that situation
  10. If i have time, I do this sort of thing. I go to the forums of other teams that we've been linked to in trade and get a vibe for what their fans think their players are worth. The first related offer I saw was Montas and Laureano for Chourio, Wiemer, Small, and Perez. The second offer(much more reasonable) Laureano for Kelly and Mendez. That poster got shouted down for not getting nearly enough. Another guy wants Wiemer or Frelick as the headliner. Another guy thinks it should start with Frelick and Small with complementary pieces added. Mostly it's pretty typical overvaluing your own players type stuff. The Kelly/Mendez offer was clearly light and clearly one I would love to pull the trigger on. Anything involving Chourio is absolutely laughable. I could see Frelick being a headliner for him, but I wouldn't expect another highly rated prospect to be included unless it's like Ray or someone who's highly rated but really shouldn't be.

  12. I'd take those odds. Remember, it's the reds. It doesn't take much to crack that roster
  13. Yelich is a bad defender in LF, he'd be laughable in CF. McCutchen is below average but passable in CF in Miller Park, but in any decent sized outfield we don't really want him out there. San Diego, NYM, LAD, SF, St Louis...all bigger parks and our most likely matchups in a potential postseason series. So those away games you have to run Taylor. I think it's pretty darn important we add a CF to avoid that issue.

  15. I generally agree, Gallo isn't the answer in CF. I did not sense the sarcasm initially but I suppose it makes sense. I would be interested to see if I can find Brewers k rate with RISP.
  16. Bell I think would be one of a few moves that would definitely move the needle. Bell would take atbats against lefties from Tellez and righties from McCutchen. You could more or less use those 3 guys to cover the 2 spots and hide the greatest weaknesses of the 3. You'd also have a really nice PH option late in the game. I remember in the last couple days we had Caratini come up in a key PH spot, as much as I like Caratini...I'd rather see Bell or Tellez take that at bat. I don't think Bell would be excessively expensive. There are probably other 1b/dh options available so it's not like we're gonna send Joey Weimer to get the deal done. And if we don't get Bell, as I said there are other 1b/dh options so we'll be fine.

  18. Apparently Lasik eye surgery in the offseason didn't work. Starting June 22, Gray started wearing a corrective lens in one eye and has had much better results since.
  19. The Brewers have 1 guy that strikes out more than a couple percentage points above mlb average in Hiura, and Hiura has a wRC+ of 128 on the season and a .238 avg. Gallo currently has a wRC+ of 83 on the season with a 38.1% k rate and .161 avg. Literally every single hitter on the Brewers is better in all 3 categories than Gallo except Hiura with a higher k rate. So no, we don't have a single hitter that even remotely compares to Joey Gallo. I know you've been here a while I thought you were better than taking one liner digs at the Brewers like the negative nancies in the game day threads.
  20. I'm sure the royals would have accepted a similar value package that included some hitting prospects, which we could easily have done. At the moment we have a lot more hitting than pitching prospects, probably largely due to graduating woodruff, burnes, Peralta, houser, later, and Ashby into the current rotation as well as Devin Williams into the bullpen
  21. This is probably the closest offer from a value perspective that I've seen so far. I actually think the Nationals would seriously consider this offer. We'd create a hole in the infield but we could plug that with another move. The nationals could very well take young major leaguers with 4+ years of team control as they have $ to try and buy their way back into contention.
  22. Nah, if we were to trade for Soto...we'd also need to trade for a guy like Bryan Reynolds, and then probably add another good reliever to be in the mix for 7th inning duties. We do those 3 things, We're probably right there with anybody in WS odds...but Juan Soto alone is not enough.
  23. Lineup with Soto. Yelich - DH/LF Adames - SS Soto - DH/LF Renfroe - RF Tellez - 1B Urias - 3B Narvaez - C Taylor - CF Wong - 2B
