  1. I'd rather get the 35% chance someone else eliminates them before we have to play them. Yep, if we HAVE to play them, I do think best of 5 is better. But I'll take my chances that the Giants could also bounce them in that best of 5 and delay playing them as long as possible. I still prefer avoiding the Dodgers at all costs. That said, playing them in a best of 5 also has one huge benefit...certainly Scherzer or Buehler will pitch the wildcard game so then wouldn't be available probably until game 3 of the best of 5. The other of the two starts game 1 and a potential game 5. Assuming our own health, we would have a pretty signficant starting pitching advantage for game 2 and the other 4 games would arguably be a push from a starting pitching perspective. That is certainly better than having to face both guys twice.
  2. I would agree they won't. How you have it outlined is probably more or less what they'll do in my opinion as well. It's certainly possible starters will have a little more rest, while it's also possible we might need to ask one of these guys to pitch on short rest at some point...which will probably be a little harder to do if a guy is used to pitching every 6 days versus every 5 days. For that game 4 I'm kinda anticipating Lauer/Houser or Anderson/Houser to each pitch 3-4 innings as a combo 4th starter with the other moving to a pen role.
  3. I'm kinda expecting them to ramp up to a normal 5 man rotation soon, and then have guys skip a turn right before playoffs or maybe just throw like 2-3 innings or something their last turn before playoffs.
  4. The Padres would probably have a better shot at beating LA than Cincy. San Diego isn't THAT far from LA whereas they could get a fair amount of fans to the game. The Padres lineup is probably similar quality to the Reds but the pitching is so much better.
  5. Ya gotta start somewhere, that's 1 in a row effective appearances from Norris
  6. Not terribly inaccurate, but it's like this guy made a bad call at the most opportune times to help the Cardinals multiple times this game. I'll again go back to, umpires need to stop throwing players out of baseballs games. At least 95% of ejections should not happen in my opinion. These grown men are the most sensitive bunch of ninnies to ever walk the planet. In this case, this umpire screws up so bad in a critical point in the game...gets called out for screwing up...and gets to eject the player that called out his screw up. It's maddeningly backwards. In reality that umpire should get ejected from the game for being such trash, or his pay for the day should be cut in half. Something. Robo umps please and thank you.
  7. It's only August. There's going to be a ton of back and forth before anything gets anywhere. There's no way anything either side is offering at this point is a final offer. Also worth noting, any labor fight is a bit of a 3 sided fight. Big market owners vs small market owners vs players...a different dynamic than sports with a hard cap.
  8. To add to your point, the Brewers took 5 of 7 off the Padres in the season series. And most of that was when the team was hitting like 180, I'm pretty sure Daniel Robertson started a couple of those games for perspective. Considering the other potential opponents, a matchup with the Padres at any point in the postseason is a good thing for this team.
  9. Agreed here. If you had to pick facing Braves/Dodgers with the Dodgers being away series versus Giants/Dodgers with both at home...it's not a difficult decision at all. Option A every time. Also based on how it looks, option A could include both series with home field if the Dodgers end up in the wildcard. All that said, in any scenario, the best thing that can happen outside the Brewers control is the Dodgers losing the wildcard game to the Padres/Reds. Every scenario gets significantly more appealing if that happens.
  10. I had no trouble viewing my renewal either. Yeah my 4 tickets was like 8 grand in the loge infield for all the games, loge infield prices out around the same as club. My season tickets are loge infield as well so i maintained the same section, but generally my tickets are really good for regular season...in that 216-221 area under the press boxes for most games. I got bumped out to 225 for postseason which is a bit unfortunate but completely understandable, I'm a fans choice so I think even though I have 10 year seniority at this point I tend to get the shaft a bit versus people with set plans. One thing I couldn't seem to find, were you able to find what row/seat number your tickets were? All I could find was a section.
  11. It's kinda funny dude complains about plate discipline as his big deadline acquisition was javy baez...
  12. I have been thinking about just how much better this team could be if yelich was even 80% of his MVP form. I think I saw 52-24 since we acquired Adames and one of the most productive offenses. Turn that 700 OPS LF into an 850 OPS LF. Would be huge. Assuming that doesn't happen, is there any chance Yelich doesn't start some playoff games? Specifically against lefties would CC go to Taylor and have Yelich come off the bench? Numbers indicate he SHOULD, but would he is a completely different question.
  13. Yeah that's going to go over real well with his players. Makes you appreciate Mark A, Stearns, etc and how well they run the Brewers. For real, say what you want about the spending...we could have the Rockies, Pirates, Marlins, etc owners...and now obviously Mets. Big Yikes.
  14. One thing I'd like to see him work on in drills before games to prepare for postseason is bunting. He's getting a pretty heavy shift currently, some relatively free singles could be super useful in the playoffs if the power stroke still hasn't been found.
  15. I occasionally lurk other fan forums, I see an awful lot of "well their offense isn't that good". I feel like they saw how bad it was the first 1.5 months of the season and don't realize how different the current team is. Tellez is batting 7th, he probably should be a bit higher given he's been our best hitter since the all star break but the top 7 players in the lineup are quality hitters. Even Cain on the downswing of his career has a 754 OPS since the all star break...a pretty darn good 8 hole hitter. To top it off, we have guys with a 930 OPS and 870 OPS since the all star break on the bench.
  16. It's wildly illogical, but I won't believe the Cardinals are actually gone until they are mathematically gone. Right or wrong, that's where I'm at with their particular brand of wizardry.
  17. Imagine this guy throwing 3-5 scoreless innings against us in a potential NLCS matchup...
  18. Because an author on ESPN decides to include a line about spider tack from her hours, and I mean hours, of testimony, you conclude it hurts her credibility. Was she asked about Spider tack? You don't know the context. Yet you choose to rationalize on behalf of Bauer about why he would use it. Gross. Well it was included because she said it I assume. If you literally read the second half of the sentence you made bold, I very clearly am NOT rationalizing what he allegedly did. I apologize if you got so triggered by the bolded part that you couldn't bother finishing reading the post or even the sentence. Rationalizing why he used spider tack is not rationalizing what he's alleged to have done, so I'm not sure what's gross here
  19. We are not a lock for anything while the cardinals control their own destiny against us with 13 games and less than a 13 game lead against them.
  20. Considering we have all of our big 3 going this series, and all 3 are RH pitchers against a heavily RH lineup...I'll be disappointed if we don't get 2 of 3. I don't care that it's cardinals, I don't care that it's on the road...if we can't get 2 of 3 with these pitchers against this team...how will we get 2 of 3 against the Dodgers or Giants or other better rosters?
  21. I was looking at Wainwrights stats and surprised how good they were, i also realized over the last 2 months he hasn't faced a single good hitting team. Some might argue the giants, but they aren't THAT good at hitting I don't think...most of their winning has come from really good pitching. Also over the last 2 months those were his only 2 non-quality starts. I don't really buy that he's all of a sudden a good pitcher again. I think he's just figured out how to get bad hitters out and will struggle against a better lineup. Here's hoping I'm right.
  22. All 5 of those HRs were before May 2nd 2019. The Before Times for Corbin. - 3 on March 31st. - 1 on April 17th. - 1 on May 1st. Yeah this was during that 2 month stint in 2019 that he was dreadful at the MLB level, before he went to the lab and transformed himself into arguably the best pitcher in baseball.
  23. That's frankly a bit interesting I'll say of her to mention spider tack at all, how is that remotely relevant to the far more serious allegations he's facing? Like, if all else fails you at least want him getting trouble from MLB for cheating? I would say this hurts her credibility quite a bit if the evidence that's been made public wasn't so overwhelming and disgusting. Regarding spider tack, I think his deal was he spoke out against the use of sticky stuff for a while and came to the conclusion to do it himself to try and get MLB to actually do something about it to level the playing field.
  24. He won't be DFA'd, simply because the September roster expansions will allow for him to stick with the club and be their option when there's multiple lefty hitters due up in the 6th or 7th inning of a tight ballgame. Unless Norris turns it around significantly or if a series matchup warrants, I doubt he sees a postseason roster at this point, though. Roster expansion is only to 28 players. That's 2 adds. So even when that happens he might not be in our top 14-15 arms if he has a few more bad outings. Worth noting, the cardinals are notably right handed...there's a strong chance he doesn't pitch at all this series. This might be an opportunity for him to throw a side bullpen session and try to work on something.
  25. My very speculative guess is Norris is maybe 2-3 bad outings in August away from a DFA. And at this point I'm guessing he's not getting important innings for a while. Assuming no DFA, his next 5-6 outings will probably be in games no closer than 4 runs in either direction.
