  1. Check out deGrom with the Mets. He just never gets run support. He must be the most frustrated pitcher in MLB on a yearly basis. Ben Sheets in 2004 went 12-14 with a 2.7 ERA and 2.65 FIP. Jacob Degrom won the Cy Young in 2018 with a 1.7 ERA and 1.98 FIP and a 10-9 record. I don't know how to find run support stats, but that's really bad for both pitcher. I would say slightly worse for Degrom. I also have Degrom on my fantasy team, so I'm well aware of how many 7+ inning outings with 2 or less runs didn't result in a win.
  2. We all said the same last year....and it ended up sucking pretty bad all year. Hopefully this year is not a repeat of that. It might be bad, but it can't be this bad. 515 OPS is almost like running 9 pitchers up to the plate every game...last year the team combined for a 702 OPS for reference.
  3. Currently we are tied for the 4th lowest average runs per game in the league. 4th lowest avg, lowest ops, 4th lowest bb, 3rd highest strikeouts. I don't think anybody predicted the offense would be this bad, take it as small sample and it will probably improve. I personally would bet heavily we don't maintain a 515 OPS as a team for the entire season.
  4. The last 2 innings weren't nearly as clean as the first bunch. Also the SP warms up before the game and throws at least 8 pitches before each inning. The 6 innings and 90 pitches could be similarly as taxing on a pitchers arm as 7 innings 74 pitches. I really don't have a huge problem with CC protecting Woodruff's arm this early in the season. If he made this call in July I'd be more annoyed.
  5. Rock just went up a notch in my book, roasting the Cubs fans for thinking every fly ball is gonna leave the ballpark...
  6. Right on cue Keston misses a grounder that somehow results in a throwing error on Robertson for backing up the misplay. One error doesn't necessarily mean he will be a liability the entire season. I also would be surprised if he didn't improve as he accumulates reps there. I would expect the majority of his errors to come from ranging to his right for a ball that he should let the 2b have.
  7. Unrelated to the Brewers lineup, does anyone know why a team might be allowed to not have a lineup posted 3 hours prior to game time? This irks me for my fantasy team, sitting here waiting on a Dodgers lineup for a game starting at 240...does a team get fined for not posting it in time or whats the deal here?
  8. Feel free to blame me if the Brewers get shut down for 6 innings again, but I kinda see a bit of a breakout game coming today. Alzolay mostly throws fastball curveball, very rare changeup...and while the 2 pitches are good, they aren't good enough to wreck us 2+ times through the order. When the Brewers have had success this year, it's been off 2 pitch bullpen pitchers. I also like the lineup shakeup today. Here's hoping...
  9. What if he refuses to shave? I've always wondered about this. It has to be inevitable that they trade for a player and said player flat out refuses to shave...and when that day comes I will be very interested to see how it plays out...especially if it's a good player like Justin Turner. It's one thing if you're choosing to sign a contract with the Yankees...you know very well what you're signing up for, quite another getting traded to them.
  10. hmmm I've never heard a bad thing about Arcia's clubhouse presence. Not a single thing. Players and the manager aren't doing their job if we as fans find out a player is bad for the clubhouse. That said, I can't see him being bad for a clubhouse. He seems like a happy go lucky good dude, enjoys the game. That just can't be bad.
  11. I think Arcia being gone is generally good for the team. Watching him hit makes me sad every time. Weigel seems like he could be good. Sobotka seems like bleh.
  12. It's Arcia. Everyone that hasn't already tempered expectations, should. I hope this is Adam Lind-esque. I highly doubt we'd get anything good that's ready now. Best bet is a lottery ticket that's more unknown and might be really good later...see Freddy Peralta.
  13. Especially if you knew you were bringing up Vogelbach here. Would be much sweeter with bases loaded and 1 out...
  14. wow, we absolutely must take advantage of andrelton simmons of all people making an error on what should have been an extremely easy double play to end the inning...
  15. I feel like woodruff needs to attack the inside a little more. That last guy seemed way too ready for a fastball away and easily slapped it into left center for the rbi.
  16. A couple really good bases loaded at bats. If anything, this should get us until the bullpen sooner. Scratching out a run is excellent as well.
  17. I'm not sure why Maeda was so careful with him there. Probably should have been more aggressive. Not complaining at all of course...
  18. Opening day starting lineup prediction Wong - 2b Hiura - 1b Yelich - LF Garcia - RF Shaw - 3b Cain - CF Narvaez - C Urias - SS Woodruff - P
  19. That or the Cubs pony up and pay him the 30+ mil, which means less money they can use to round out the rest of the roster. They do have a ton of payroll flexibility coming up considering they are losing virtually all their best players. It's a win either way...
  20. The number of humans who can regularly throw a baseball 100 mph and control where it goes is certainly not huge. A BB/9 of over 6 as a professional would suggest that Ray Black is not among those humans. In fairness, the upside still exists whether he can control it or not. Not many can throw that hard. He's potentially the right mechanical adjustment away from being a power bullpen arm as long as he's able to maintain the velocity. Upside doesn't always pan out, and it definitely isn't enough to make trwi happy.
