  1. I think Baez can run only. I don't see him swinging a bat over the next week. Then again, I was shocked that Rizzo came back.
  2. I hate to say it, but at this point I don't see how you cannot root for the Cards to win out vs the Cubs. The odds of winning the division are so small and I want as much of a buffer as possible to ensure we make it into the Playoffs. I'm with Harvey's on this one. If we sweep the Pirates, I have to believe a WC is all but assured barring a really terrible 6 game stretch. I think our playoff odds would be over 90% at that point. If i knew we'd get those 3, I think 2 is the perfect amount for Chicago to win. Chicago has 3 against the pirates, but also 3 in st louis. Those 3 will be much tougher games than the 3 home games. It definitely all starts with us continuing to scratch out wins.
  3. Any time you can pay an injury prone, 6 ERA pitcher, 10 million for half a season of work...you have to do it right?
  4. Bahahahaha, oh Cubs diehards are something else. Bleacher nation article states "It is absolutely plausible that the Brewers finish up no better than 5-4 in these nine games, but even that would mean the Cubs have to go 6-3 just to tie them. And that, in turn, means even if you assume the Cubs sweep the Pirates, they still have to at least split the remaining six games against the Cardinals". Saying it's plausible we finish no better than 5-4 is friggin weird. It's the no better than 5-4 part that I don't like. They could try to argue that they hope the Reds/Rockies play us tough and we lose both series...there are a lot of routes to us only finishing 5-4...that type of comment would make sense. I think the Brewers range of outcomes is between 4-5 and 8-1. Anything else would be weird.
  5. We kinda sorta want the Phillies to hang around, i think 2 of 3 is ideal. We also definitely want the Dbacks to sweep the Padres this weekend so they have theoretical playoff hope when the Cardinals visit them early next week.
  6. Do we know that Cain is good to go? I think I'd almost rather have Pina over Austin and put Grandal at first. I'm expecting he will be, but no guarantee. And yeah I could get on board with that. Wouldn't change the order at all, swap Pina and Austin. Gives Grandal another day off from all the crouching
  7. I think you make a good point here. It's way easier to have him adjust after his last outing than any other going forward. Have him throw something like 50 pitches tomorrow, 65 on the 26th, you'd have him around 80 for that potential wildcard game. Maybe they prefer to keep him on normal rest and have Lyles start the potential wildcard game...with Woodruff scheduled for games 1 and 5 of a 5 game series? That would really be putting the cart in front of the horse though. I'll also add that pitching the 26th is in Cincy while the 27th is in Colorado. I think Woodruff's arsenal will play better than most of our starters in Colorado.
  8. This is another guy that I don't understand why he has success against us. I feel like he throws almost all fastballs in the zone against us, and we just can't hit it. There's nothing overly special about it either, mediocre velocity and low spin rate. Cain Grandal Moose Braun Hiura Grisham Austin Arcia P
  9. I was pretty conflicted this entire game. Thoroughly enjoyed how crushed the Cubs fans must have been on that Carpenter homerun, love a Cubs loss...but the division is slowly creeping out of reaching.
  10. I bet the ump is upset from yesterday when CC yelled at them for being wrong...
  11. What is with this strike zone today? He missed 2 perfect strikes this inning already...after having a weirdly huge strike zone the first 2 innings.
  12. I knew he was going to swing 2-1 there. I just knew it. I don't hate him swinging considering it was actually a strike, so it's all whatever. Too bad we couldn't really pile on there.
  13. Send him up there without a bat until he gets 2 strikes. Glue it to his shoulder, whatever you have to do...
  14. Yes you run. Especially if the ball is to the backstop. No brainer Rock...didn't he play in the majors? How does he not know that?
  15. Wait, where's the interference call? Or insert other nonsense reason to not give us the run.....
  16. I feel like Braun was annoyed that Hiura didn't score. He must not remember that Hiura is being(and should be) cautious on the bases right now. Hamstrings are tricky...
  17. Ay ay ay, this ump is calling the low strike today. He called one earlier on Hosmer too. Too bad, would have loved to get Hiura up there with the bases juiced...
  18. I feel like he's seeing the ball a bit better lately. I think he smoked a couple outs yesterday. Would be cool if he saved all his bloop hits for the last few weeks of the season.
  19. peavy is the only one i can think off off the top of my head Yes. Peavy 2007 Others were from 1989 1978 1976 I guess Trevor Hoffman doesn't fit any of the critera.
  20. My initial reaction was annoyed that he swung at ball 4, until I saw the ball sailing over CF head. You do you Braunie...
  21. I disagree. You want the Phillies still having something to play for when they face the Nationals in 5 games next week. I like the idea of the Phillies winning at least 2 of the next 4(including today) to stay on the periphery of the playoff race. As much as winning 4 in a row makes their games against the Nationals incredibly meaningful, that would be too many and put them into serious contender category. So with the loss today, I'll be moreso pulling for the Phillies to win this weekend.
  22. I'm frankly going to be very annoyed if we don't hit Lucchesi hard today. There's just no reason at all that we shouldn't hit him hard. Sinker, changeup, cutter...with below average velocity, mediocre spin rate, and mediocre movement. Nothing in that profile suggests an MLB caliber pitcher.
  23. I feel like I'm going insane right now, but i swear i remember lucchesi being a fastball curveball guy... yet internet is telling me he doesn't even really throw a curve.
  24. I think this is a winner, except Gamel over Taylor. I also for some reason don't think they'll bat Hiura 2nd. I don't know who else would bat there...just don't think it will be him.
