  1. If the Crew is scuffling a little bit going into the break, Thames is still mashing and Peralta is pitching great still, I'd certainly entertain a Thames and Peralta to Houston for Martes, Paulino, AJ Reed and JD Davis. Turn to the Dodgers and get two of their top arms and our farm system goes to #1 really fast Peralta is pitching great? He has a 4.71 ERA, 4.32 FIP and 4.90 xFIP, and his walks are up and Ks are down. Couple nice outings I guess but for the most part same old Wily and no real trade value. Not great, bad words. He had a 2.65 era before yesterday's start in the first 3 games and was solid since his demotion last year.

  3. I'd say Milone is next when Garza is activated, trimming the fat off the 40
  4. I wouldn't give up Jimmy Nelson for that package let alone add Braun to it. Stearns got 2 top 10 organizational prospects for Lucroy, I don't see him settling for less with Braun, granted we will need to take a bad contract back or two to offset his contract. Arizona doesn't have the prospects it would take to get Braun. Peralta had 3.7 WAR in 2015 and was hurt most of last year, I doubt they view him as a hole on their team.
  5. Only way I deal Thames is if we have a stud in waiting like Bellinger and we get a massive haul in return, which likely won't happen. I could see Wily and Nelson being moved still to make room for some of the younger guys in Hader and Woodruff or Lopez if they get good value back. We have Wily for 2 more years and Jimmy and Chase for 3 before hitting FA. Milone and Kirk could be let go off the 40 man and I'm sure most everyone wouldn't care. So there are still quite a few more moves to be made before you can say the reload is over.
  6. I just don't see the Dodgers making a move for Braun before July. They dragged out the Dozier saga for months only to look elsewhere. They gave up quite a haul at the trade deadline last year for Hill and Reddick by giving up Holmes, Cotton and Montas so we know they are willing to deal some top prospects at the deadline. I know most teams wait until June/July for trades, but I think Stearns firm price will make this go until the trade deadline when multiple teams could be involved. So just like Lucroy last year, hope that Braun stays healthy and keeps hitting and the situation will take care of itself in July, Stearns got his requested haul right at the deadline. The Dodgers have a hole in LF and against LHP, it only makes sense if you are going to trade for him, to do it now and gain that 2-3 month advantage. Brewers have salary room to take enough back to make it worthwhile. They will be in win now mode the next 4 years, so why not try and take advantage. If the Dodgers don't want to meet our price, so be it, I hope he goes to a division foe and haunts them for 4 years. The Giants have a real need at this point and have a couple year window with Cueto and Bum. It would be nice if somehow a 3rd team could get involved where Braun goes to SF, Beede comes to Milwaukee and we get another top prospect somewhere else. Screw the Dodgers.
  7. Are the Astros really going to go into the season starting Aoki in LF? Aoki is not terrible, but he's 35 now, SB's way down and he hasn't played more than 132 games in the last 3 years(132 in 2014, 93 in 2015 and 118 in 2016) and has an OPS in the lower .700's. The next 2 years the Astros are in a really good position to make a run with the core below. They could have a lineup of: Springer CF Correa SS Altuve 2B Braun LF Beltran DH/1B Gattis DH/1B McCann C Bregman 3B P That is a really good lineup. Their pitching staff is together for the next 2 years with Keuchel, McHugh, McCulleres, Morton and FIers with Musgrove/Devinski/Martes or Paulino stepping in. I still think Houston is the perfect place for Braun with Dodgers out of the equation and no one else on his no trade making sense unless Giants want to fill their LF hole. I think Houston makes a run in the first half, Braun waives his no trade to be moved their with cash for Martes or Paulino and a position prospect, we can take Aoki with his contract back as well. 2019 they will have a number of players up for Free Agency.
  8. I don't see Texas giving up Mendez and I doubt the Brewers have interest in Guzman after signing of Thames. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if Guzman was on the list of potential PTBNL last year but he struggled so at AAA the Brewers opted for Cordell. Martin's not close to the equivalent of Mendez either. Not sure Texas has to keep Fielder. Doesn't their insurance just kick in and pay off his remaining contract? He's not listed on their roster. He's on the 60 day DL. Yes, but he has to be activated every December to the 40 man, then he can be put back on the 60 day DL after spring training starts. Rangers didn't sign/announce Napoli's signing until they could put Prince back on the 60 day DL. It kills a valuable 40 man spot every winter.
  9. I think this story is fake news, but I will provide a fake response. Rangers get: Ryan Braun Brewers get: Prince Fielder + 54 Million Yohander Mendez or Brett Martin(LHP's) Ronald Guzman(1B) Prince and Braun's contracts are a wash. Rangers have to waste a 40 man spot every offseason for the next 3 years having Prince on it which is a big liability. We take Prince back, put him on 60 day DL and he retires a Brewer. Brewers pay 2017 salary then release him after the season, Rangers on the hook for the remaining 54 Million.
  10. Casey McGehee wished he would have..
  11. Per Rotowire for 20m...
  12. MLB Trade rumors According to Correa’s statement, an unidentified member of the Astros organization “accessed proprietary data on a St. Louis Cardinals server” late in 2011. Further, he charges, the Astros utilized the Cardinals’ information “to replicate and evaluate key algorithms and decision tools related to amateur and professional player evaluation.” Most seriously, perhaps, Correa alleges that Houston GM Jeff Luhnow and then-assistant GM David Stearns “were included in e-mail discussions about these efforts.” Is Stearns Russian at all?
  13. Stearns should be hitting up Oakland too. Who knows what Beane/Forst are thinking, ever. He made a run for Encarnacion and some other free agents and have a weakness in RF. They have some interesting pieces in their farm system, close to home for Braun.
  14. Time for the Scooter to Tampa Rays rumors to start
  15. Probably not going to see too many moves the rest of the month. Stearns gets married on Saturday. Gotta wonder if he's like in one of those commercials where the guy is with his girl on a date and he's secretly/constantly checking his phone. Or if his fiancee took his phone away for the next 10 days.
  16. Trying to find the interview, but I remember seeing an interview where Lewis Brinson said that Ryan Cordell was the best player he's ever played with. There were some really good players that Brinson played with in the first couple years of Pro Ball too.
  17. Very excited to see how he performs this year. Didn't realize his exit velocity was that high, in the elite levels...
  18. [i stream sports and Netflix through my computer, and I am curious if it is possible for a television to get wifi or bluetooth and display whatever is on my computer remotely. I know I could probably do it with Netflix, but what about internet sites? I'm curious because I'm thinking of turning an empty bedroom into a dedicated place to drink and smoke cigars, but I'm thinking I might get bored if there's no sports to watch. I do everything through the computer and don't have cable, and can't really run a line to that room. Check this site out, HDMI cable from computer to tv is the easiest way of you have an hdmi port on your video card, but there are other options https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.neweggbusiness.com/over-easy/5-ways-stream-pc-tv-digital-display/amp/?client=safari
  19. Does anyone say it's a 1 year deal. Couldn't it be 2 years for 6.5m and the promise to close?
  20. I wonder if Braun would think about Seattle as a landing spot. West Coast, should have a competitive ball club the next couple years And nothing special in the corner outfield spots. DiPoto has shown he is willing to deal from the lower minors. Tyler ONeil or Kyle Lewis headlining a deal? Ability to use him as a DH in his later years.
  21. Rosenthal says talks with Twins and Dodgers are at an impasse with no current discussion. Now is the time to swoop in Stearns and throw in Scooter....have 11 days to get the deal done before your wedding and honeymoon!!!
  22. With a lot of OF options at the MLB and minor league level, what are thoughts on having Ryan Cordell play 1B this year at Colorado Springs? We lack big sticks in the minors and don't really have anyone lighting up the minors at 1B close the major league level. Cordell is a very good athlete with plus defense, but he has been viewed more as a 4th outfielder. He has played 1B at every level so far as a pro, not much but he has experience there and is a big target there. He could have a faster track to the MLB level if the Brewers see him as an option their versus the OF and could look to move Thames for other pieces a year or 2 down the road if Cordell could take over for him. Thoughts?
  23. Only 15 days until David Stearns Wedding. Lots of things still available on his wedding registry for those fans that want to butter up to their local 9 GM.... https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/giftregistry/view_registry_guest.jsp?pwsToken=&eventType=Wedding&registryId=543278962&wcref=yes&wcsid=531403473 The $489.00 blender has not been purchased yet for those wondering.
  24. I'd love to see a trade for Sean Reid-Foley and Rowdy Tellez from Toronto just because I like SRF's mustache and Rowdy's name.
  25. But someone is going to need to eat some contracts for Braun to fit into the Dodgers payroll..
