  1. Webb was one of the hyped Rule 5 guys in December according to Baseball America, was hoping the Brewers would take him, but he'd have to be on the 25 man all year. Good pickup.
  2. http://riveraveblues.com/2017/04/pirates-return-rule-5-draft-pick-tyler-webb-to-yankees-151480/
  3. Cubs checked in on Fulmer and Tigers wouldn't move him.
  4. Houston is an interesting comparison. They traded Hader, Phillips, Santana, and Houser for Gomez and a good but not great starting pitcher in Fiers. Didn't slow down that train. Houston was at where we will likely be next year with a 40 man roster crunch. They couldn't keep all their minor leaguers on the 40 and away from the rule 5 draft and cashed them into MLB assets. Its the cycle teams have to deal with after acquiring so many prospects. I'd be more inclined for a Michael Fulmer or Sean Manaea trade versus a Quintana/Gray trade.

  6. Detroit is shopping their veterans Shane Greene has been solid for them this year, pitching in 35 games posting a 2.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38K's in 34 innings. He's controllable through 2020. He had his streaks as a starter for a few years, but he's been pretty good since going to the bullpen last year. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/shane-greene-on-his-hard-to-classify-repertoire/ He's an injury risk, but what pitcher isn't
  7. Just signed him
  8. Pitching an inning without giving up a run on a consistent basis is the exact definition of elite. I'd say relief pitching an inning without giving up a run consistently is reliable. I'd say elite is consistently pitching an inning without allowing any base runners.
  9. Hurts looking right now at Blake Parker, 33 games, 2.01 ERA, 47/9 K/B ratio for the Angels, one of the guys DS tried stuffing in AAA in his 40th man roster shuffling.
  10. No, I would look at bringing up Jorge Lopez next for the bullpen
  11. Yes, On the way out of the meetings, Milwaukee GM David Stearns touched base with Dombrowski. “[stearns] said, ‘Dave, I know you asked me about Thornburg. We have interest in Travis Shaw. Maybe there could be a foundation, but it wouldn’t be one for one,’ ” recalled Dombrowski. “I said, ‘Well, it would be something we’d be interested in talking about.’ ” https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2016/12/10/how-chris-sale-deal-came-about/y54iJcIAj4vtbDvRb8LLLP/story.html
  12. Yes, this, or Braxton Garrett, just don't think Miami is a good match for us. They have a good OF and we have OF depth to deal.
  13. He's a parody account mocking @BrewerNation, not credible
  14. I wouldn't mind taking a shot over Oliver Drake. Dyson was very good for a few years. Gotta think there is a mechanical fix. Supposedly just not getting any sink on that bowling ball sinker. Similar profile to Hughes.
  15. Wow, price over $170 today Looks like car manufacturers are exploring using the technology for driverless cars
  16. There is still alot of fat to be trimmed off the 40 man that can be filled internally, I'd like them to adjust the pitching this way to see what we have in some of the young arms. Woodruff and Espino with starting opportunities and Hader and Lopez in the bullpen.
  17. Man the Dodgers and their injuries, I don't know how the team trainers can still have a job, I guess Braun would fit in pretty good with them at this point. Need to wrap this team up in bubble wrap. Current DL: Ethier, Back Forsythe, Toe Garcia, TJ Gonzalez, Elbow Gutierrez, Hip Hill, Blister Kazmir, Hip McCarthy, Shoulder Ravin, Groin Ryu, Hip Segedin, Toe Stewart, Shoulder Toles, Knee
  18. Going back to July 26th last year, he's given up more than 3 earned runs in just 2 outings spanning 14 starts and he's pitched ok this year. A 3.60 ERA over that span. If we eat the majority of this years salary and he has a very good $5M team option next year, why couldn't he net a good lower level prospect? The price of starters is high on the market in trades the past couple years.
  19. If PTBNL's are supposed to be picked within 6 months, should find out by Saturday. Hopefully its not dependent on Thornburg's health.
  20. Braun did make one change to his teams though for his no trade list. Was Braun good friends with Gomez, Lucroy and Jeffress in Texas that maybe he saw an opportunity to join them on a good team on paper? Who knows, but there was a tweet with a few weeks left in Spring Training that a Texas reporter suggested Braun to Texas would take place within a month based on chatter in the industry.
  21. I would be happy with either of these scenario's, although I'd rather swap out Derek Fisher for AJ Reed in the Astros deal. http://herosports.com/mlb/the-haul-trading-ryan-braun-rangers-astros-c6c6 If the Crew is playing near a wild card spot come the deadline I don't think he gets moved though until the winter. If the Brewers are not playing that great, there could be a large number of suitors for Braun at the deadline(Dodgers, Astros, Rangers, Giants).
  22. Anyone know if Ray Montgomery was doing pro scouting at this time in Arizona?
