  1. Junk will be taking one for the team before he gets the next flight back to Nashville. Then on to the bullpen day tomorrow while Lauer tends to his dead arm.
  2. It is looking like my first impression of Junk from that spring game was not inaccurate.
  3. Maybe Junk should check the runner when he laces up his track shoes and gets into the starting blocks.
  4. I was referring only to the one time I saw him before today. In that game he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 runs and left without retiring a batter I think the tough crowd is the posters who are prepared to pounce at the slightest thing that offends them.
  5. I saw this guy start a Spring Training game and he appeared to be appropriately named.
  6. I don’t need to make a big deal out of it, but there is a separate forum for minor league discussion. It’s one thing to talk about someone from AAA who might be helping out the Brewers this season, but daily updates about a player at least 2 or 3 years away to me is a different subject. If I really was interested in daily reports about the minor league affiliates, I’d rather have those in a separate forum where I could refer to them easily instead of having to comb through archived game threads. Just my two cents. The administrators and contributors can decide what they want for their audience.
  7. If people want to rave about minor leaguers who might be helping the Brewers in 3-4 years, that’s fine. But I don’t think the place for it is in a game thread where the focus should be on today’s game and this year’s team.
  8. No need to have him throw 100 or more pitches with a 7-0 lead.
  9. Nice. A night game on a western road trip ending at 11 PM.
  10. After decades of watching hot prospects fizzle I decline to get too excited about what they do in the minor leagues.
  11. Best Brewers hitting prospect since Keston Hiura.
  12. These posts are giving me flashbacks to the daily updates on Keston Hiura’s minor league exploits that appeared in game threads on another site for a few years.
  13. Every year since 1987 I have paid attention early in the season to see win every team had at least one loss to keep that 13 game winning streak record on the books. Every year since 1987 I have paid attention early in the season to see when every team had at least one loss to keep that 13 game winning streak record on the books. It’s starting to look like that might be coming to an end this year.
  14. This might also account for his relatively early exit last Friday. The enthusiasm over the quick start is fading quickly. The Brewers are literally going from one of the best pitchers in the league to Junk.
  15. If this turns out to be true they will be under .500 when they come home next week.
  16. Not unless they are using a different camera angle when the DBacks are up.
  17. Might as well go to bed instead of watching the worst ball and strike calling I have seen since that Miami playoff game years ago. Hopefully one of you who follows these things can provide us with the analysis of how bad this has been. It’s no fun to watch.
  18. That was the essence of my earlier comment about wanting to get Voit into a game because the Brewers are facing a string of RHP this week.
  19. I think Winker has had enough of a career for his stats to have some meaning.
  20. What is Winker’s career wRC+ against RHP.
  21. That sounds like outsmarting yourself. I’d rather go with the better hitter, especially one who isn’t afraid to take a pitch the opposite way. Maybe Counsell wants to get Voit in a game and sees this as the best (least bad?) option with a string of righties coming up the next a few days.
  22. I got the spirit of the comment. I do think that anyone looking at Gallen’s outings this year to create an expectation for tonight is making a mistake, just like anyone reading too much Burnes’ two outings. He is tough, and Kelly is no picnic either.
  23. He has been tough on the Brewers in the past. Following this line of reasoning I’m predicting a 9.64-3.86 loss tomorrow. 🤪
