  1. If the Brewers can drag this out long enough like they did yesterday the Phillies can clinch their playoff spot by winning instead of by default.
  2. Those were huge runs. I’m in a really tight battle for my fantasy championship, so Woodruff avoiding an L helps me.
  3. That’s how many tickets were sold. I’m sure the number of people actually attending is significantly lower than that.
  4. Schwarber just hit his second HR of the night to put the Phils up 3-0 as the Astros have replaced many of their starters.
  5. The only reason we would renew is because we like our seats in the first row of the terrace level. More leg room.
  6. My favorite comment of the night from the broadcast crew was when they said that the DBacks bullpen has had problems, but they were pretty tough when the Brewers played them a couple of weeks ago. What does that tell you?
  7. I intend to be brutally honest. My daughters and I are leaning pretty heavily toward not renewing our seats. This was the second year in a row that the games we have attended have been brutally dull with just a couple of exceptions. ETA I started the survey and it was about companies that advertise with the Brewers at the park and on broadcasts. I didn’t bother to complete it.
  8. Time to complete the season package holder satisfaction survey I received today. Thats where they ask how much you enjoy the ballpark food, in,park entertainment, etc. They’re hoping that a good overall ballpark experience will overcome a dull product on the field.
  9. Losing to the DBacks shouldn’t be surprising. They have a better record than the Brewers since the break.
  10. There goes the no hitter. Still no hard hit balls. And Wong immediately erases himself.
  11. No comments about today’s game yet. While the Phillies roll over the Nats again (7-0 in the 5th) the no hitter alert is up on the Brewers. No hard hit balls yet.
  12. Let’s recap the last week. Before last Sunday’s games, the Brewers trailed the Phillies by 1..5 games. Since then, the Phillies lost to the Braves, lost 3 straight to the Cubs, and won 2 of 3 from the Nats. With that 2-5 effort, the Phils opened the door, put out the welcome mat, and invited the Brewers to come in and take the last wild card spot. The Brewers declined the invitation by losing 4 of 6 and scoring a whopping 14 runs in the process. These teams are highlighting how expanding the playoffs cheapens the quality of playoff baseball.
  13. Because of the tiebreaker, the Phillies magic number to eliminate the Brewers is down to 3. They win 3 of their last 4 and the Brewers are done even if they somehow manage to win 4 in a row. This is not like the traditional 1 game behind when a tie keeps the team alive.
  14. It all went downhill in late July when you said that the Brewers making the playoffs was almost a given. ? My superstitious grandmother would have rapped you for that kind of jinx.
  15. Yep, this certainly proved something that we all knew.
  16. The answer to this will come next week when we see how they handle their lineups and pitchers. Will they use their regular starting pitchers and let them go as deep into games as they would otherwise? Will they play their best position players every day like they would if they hadn’t already sewn up the #1 seed in the AL?
  17. I would say that it is generally round but not a perfect sphere. Hopefully that would not be too controversial.
  18. The Phillies magic number to close out the Brewers is 5. The Brewers magic number to close out the Phillies is 7. Put another way, the Phillies and Brewers have a combined 11 games remaining. 7 of them have to go the Brewers way, and the Brewers can only control 5 of them. They would be well advised to take care of those 5 and hope for the Phillies to hand them the other 2. Counting on a struggling Nats team and a coasting Astros team to deliver them is not ideal.
  19. No question about that. In this case I’m not sure what his point is. Even if he wants to argue that the Marlins offense is not as bad as the Pirates despite what R/G says, what difference does it make? They obviously have a horrible offense and Alacntara is clearly more deserving of the Cy Young Award than Burnes this year. Burnes did what he had to do tonight.
  20. Here we go. This could set an all time standard for back to back gut punches.
