The end is near.

A question about extra innings. Is a team allowed to decline the free runner at second and put him at first instead? Then hope for a 2 run HR.
-
Like last weekend they’re talking about how this series has a playoff vibe. Maybe that’s why the Brewers hitters are choking so badly.
-
Just to rub salt in the wounds, with nobody on base both Chourio and Turang produced results that would have been useful in their previous at bats. No question these hitters are now pressing.
-
I agree, but fans overreacting to the crack of the bat is universal so saying that Cubs fans are especially ignorant is misguided. They should be criticized instead for being insufferable jack…rabbits.
-
A dormant offense and an unreliable bullpen is a bad combination.
-
I almost choked when Schroeder said early in the game that the Brewers had controlled PCA well in this series. Since then I’ve been waiting for payback.
-
If you’ve ever gone to a game at AmFam you would know that Brewers fans are just as bad as anyone at getting excited about every ball that’s hit in the air. It’s just a reflection of the fact that a high percentage of people at a baseball game really know very little about the game and how to watch it. This is one running joke that should be allowed to die.
-
The Brewers offense is now home run or nothing. For a team that doesn’t hit a lot of homers that means a lot of nothing
-
This Cubs bullpen is impenetrable.
-
Brady Singer has followed up his mastery of the Brewers by getting bombed for 4 runs (including the 18th HR he’s allowed) with nobody out in the second inning against the Pirates.
-
I don’t think Woodruff is that bad. The Cubs are clearly going for an opener or a complete bullpen game, and the way their maligned relievers shut down the Brewers last night it might work for them. We’ll see if Woodruff can keep the Cubs in check while facing a hot Cubs lineup without the advantage of the hitting background that helped him, Sproat, Singer, and Lodolo dominate their opponents last week. What the Brewers really need is for the offense to show up. It shouldn’t be asking too much to hope for a team that is averaging over 5 runs a game to score more than 2 runs more often than once every 3 days. It will be tougher with one of the few hitters who has produced recently Contreras) sitting out

He took a swing and immediately grabbed his hamstring
-
There goes Mitchell to the IL.
-
2 runs might win some games against teams with weak hitting, but it isn’t going to win many against teams like the Braves and Cubs.
-
Somebody said that Murphy said that they were going to a 5 man rotation after the Thursday off day. Apparently that was bad information.
-
Those 3 home runs he has hit have come in handy though.
-
Then, unless Murphy was lying about the 5 man rotation, we mught be seeing Drohan early tomorrow. If Drohan is scheduled to start Wednesday in a 6 man rotation there’s going to be very little support in the middle innings.
-
We might be seeing Gasser early tomorrow.
-
Top of the order looked like they’re packing it in for the night.
-
So 9-3?
-
More likely 9-2. I really wanted this game because I have very little confidence that Woodruff and his junk are going to be able to control this hot Cubs offense.
-
It’s frightening going into this long stretch of games with both Patrick and Ashby now unreliable.

“Only” 26 pitches but got the job done. Getting that first win in the series is big. -

Hope someone is warming up. McGill is going to be up to 30 pitches soon.
