  1. I know a lot of people don’t like it when I do this, but I continue to think that the facts support the premise that the Brewers run prevention is playing a much bigger role in their success than the offense. I pointed out at the end of May that the Brewers offense that month produced only 4.15 RPG, which was 10th in the NL and well below the league average of 4.54 RPG. But the RAPG was a sensational 2.77, a clear first in the NL and more than a run and a half better than the league average of 4.34. The first 3 series in June (Giants, Rockies, A’s) produced explosions of runs by both the Brewers and their opponents that skew the season long numbers. But the Brewers went 6-4 so that goofy stretch didn’t affect the pattern of wins and losses. Since returning from Vegas, the May pattern has returned. The Brewers have gone 15-8, 4th best in the NL, while scoring 4.39 RPG (9th best in the NL and well below the league average of 4.96). But, like in May, their RAPG of 3.30 is best in the NL and a run and a half below the league average of 4.80 and 0.7 better than the second best Marlins. It appears that as the weather has heated up scoring has increased but the Brewers haven’t kept up. I have heard some rumors or speculation that the baseballs have been tightened up and are now flying farther. Maybe that explains why the Brewers have been hitting more home runs even though their overall scoring hasn’t increased as much as the rest of the league.
  2. People obsess too much over the batting order. If Yelich was moved to 6th or 7th they’d complain about how often he comes up with men on base. At least when Yelich gets on base he’s a good base runner who can be advanced by the better hitters who follow As I said the other day, I have to think that his back is really hurting and he could use a few weeks on the IL to see if that helps Maybe they’ll do that after the break
  3. Does Murphy have the guts to let Vaughn hit for Yelich, or does he just accept the out.
  4. It’s bad enough listening to Levering but having the constant background cheers of the Tarps Off group is enough to put the game on mute.
  5. Good enough pitching to win games with minimal offense.
  6. The Brewers offense lately is the prescribed antidote for pitchers coming off of bad outings.
  7. I might be more enthusiastic about a big move for Skubal if it weren’t for the fact that he’s coming off an injury and hasn’t been dominant since coming back.
  8. You should think that he has potential but would probably be eaten alive by major league pitching at this stage of his career. See what he does in the next 2-3 years. Think Pedro Cerrano
  9. Because they have used so much of the bullpen trying to pull this one out and in the other games of this series. When you have starters who have trouble going 5 innings, and an offense that is struggling to score more than 3 runs in a game the bullpen gets overused. The options in the bullpen tomorrow will be limited and they have to keep an eye on covering two games on Tuesday. They could really use an offensive outburst, but those have been few and far between for the last few weeks.
  10. Brewers better win this one because the chances of winning tomorrow are dropping
  11. It’s a matter of taste. I got an appreciation for soccer watching my daughters play in high school and these games are the best teams and players in the world playing for the biggest prize in the sport. it’s easy enough to keep track of a baseball game through a game tracker and switch to it if it looks like something interesting might happen. The way the Brewers offense has been those moments haven’t been been coming very often.
  12. I think the World Cup game might be a better entertainment choice this afternoon.
  13. I think it’s prudent to proceed on the assumption that Woodruff is done for the season. It took him the better part of two months to recover and rehab the last time this happened and there’s no reason to think this time will be easier or that, if he does come back, he would last very long. in the short term I wonder what his absence does for the rotation for these next 8 days. He was originally slated to pitch on Thursday.
  14. I don’t know why you would “expect” five wins in these eight games. If you told me right now that I could take five wins without playing the games, I would take it and run.
  15. People who wanted Yelich moved down in the order are getting their wish. Today he’s batting third against a left-handed pitcher.🙄
  16. It has nothing to do with running at 100%. He went to second base and waited to see if the ball might be caught. When the ball bounced off the wall and straight to the centerfielder, he had no chance to score Sitting here at home, it might be easy to say that he should have been easy to see that the ball wasn’t going to be caught
  17. There is zero chance the Brewers will trade for Skubal.
  18. Should I apologize for turning it off and going to bed at 10:45 PM with a tie game that might be going on for quite awhile longer? I’m guessing that game went past midnight our time. Reviewing the thread I only saw one person predicting a losing streak.
  19. I’m seeing all of these comments about moving Yelich out of the leadoff spot.. IMHO the only real decision on Yelich is whether he starts at all. If he’s going to be in the lineup I’d rather have him at the top of the order ahead of the better hitters than batting seventh behind the better hitters Giving Vaughn more ABs by using him more often as DH seems like a good idea. Just tinkering with the batting order isn’t likely to change much.
  20. They didn’t have the HBP on the condensed game video. Did Pratt actually get beaned, or was he hit somewhere else?
  21. The loss column isn’t as important this early in the season. But, unless there are rainouts the Brewers and Cubs will have played the same number at the All Star break. I will be pleased if the Brewers have a 6 game lead at the break
  22. Actually you don’t have to. There’s an option to sync the sound of the teams’ radio broadcasts.
