Hurts to lose a series to a playoff competitor when it looked like the Brewers were getting them at a good time. Now they have to face two teams that are rolling on hot streaks with an offense that has been anemic in 3 of the last 4 games.

Yes. The Mets are in the middle of a slide in which they have lost 13 of 16 and surrendered a 5.5 game division lead to the Phillies, who haven't exactly been tearing things up themselves. I'm sure their fans are very laid back about it. While the Mets did get swept by the Pirates and are now 2-4 against them for the season, they are also 8-1 against the Rockies and White Sox. The real sticking point for me is the historically bad Rockies, who will have a home and home series against every NL team, and 4 series against the 4 playoff contenders in the NL West. Games against the Rockies should be seen as a golden opportunity to stack up wins. The Brewers did not take maximum advantage of that opportunity the way most of the other contenders have and therefore dropped a couple of games in the standings that might have to be made up somewhere else. The record of the 10 NL playoff contenders against the Rockies so far is a combined 43-7. The Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Mets, and Reds are a combined 25-0, and the Cardinals haven't faced them yet.

What makes this especially maddening is how the Brewers let the game get away and choked at the plate in the final innings. You can’t assume or even expect that the team will sweep a series against the worst teams in MLB. But the Brewers have now played five series against the worst teams (Rockies, White Sox, and Pirates) and haven’t swept any. Three times the Brewers have won the first two games in a series against these bottom feeders, but have failed to bring the bats to the final game A record of 10-6 against these teams isn’t horrible, but it will likely be worse than what the top playoff contenders will do.

A dreadful loss. A succession of weak ABs in the 9th, 10th, and 11th when a hit could have won it or kept it alive.

It’s one of my pet peeves so I’m going to point it out every time I see it. A player is only “beaned” when he’s hit in the head A nice snappy victory this afternoon. We are up to 5-0 for the season in games attended.

This should serve as a wakeup call that a team of professionals fighting for their careers can be dangerous.

Brewers probably shouldn’t have stopped,playing after they went ahead 6-0. They made a comment on the telecast how the Brewers are tied with the Rays for most innings of 6 runs or more since some date, and that the Rays had 6 in the second inning tonight. The Rays are now losing 22-8, so that 6 run inning didn’t guarantee a win.

You have to pick your poison. The Cubs losing is always nice, but the Cards are right there with the Brewers. And the Reds, who are going for a sweep over the Yankees tonight, are just two games back. its a pretty tight 10 team race for the 6 NL playoff spots at the halfway mark. The 10th place team is only 3.5 games out of the last WC spot.

I wonder what the Brewers rotation will be for the next two weeks with the off days tomorrow and Monday. Before the season started I exchanged tickets for the Cubs game in our 12 pack for the game against the Dodgers on Monday July 7 when one our daughters will be visiting from out of town. Im wondering if the Brewers will set Misioroski up for that game, which is the first home game after the upcoming road trip. I think they could sell out Misioroski going against Ohtani and the World Champions.

Absolutely the right call. Until shown otherwise you have to play like one run might win the game.

This game is being so overhyped that I suspect at least one of the pitchers will have an off game. One of the concerns I have for Misiorowski is that the Pirates approach at the plate will drive up his pitch count and get him out early.

Would like to see a few more runs. Don’t need another game like Thursday and Sunday.

A very disappointing loss. The Pirates are a terrible team because they have the worst offense in MLB. But, their pitching is above average so if they score 5 runs or more they usually win. The problem is they don’t score 5 runs very often. After tonight they are 5-2 when they score exactly 5 runs and 15-3 when they score 5 or more. In my book this loss is on the pitching.
