  1. Podsednik to right and very deep...
  2. Podsednik to left center and very deep...
  3. The dreaded tough lefty in Randy Wolf...this is one of those awkward/difficult games for me to watch...I have Randy Wolf on my fantasy baseball team...I wouldn't mind the Brewers hanging a crooked number on him though...it's a mixed blessing having one of your pitchers face the Brewers
  4. OK so some people have had a chance to see Weeks play now. The question I have: were reports that Weeks wasn't as advanced as you would expect right? I thought Week's had a very nice swing and as far as the offensive portion of his game, it's probably "advanced" as far as hyped. I'd have to agree with others when they've said that Rickie looked awkward/clumsy turning double plays and that his defense could certainly stand to be polished. On a positive note...he's got a very strong arm.
  5. Top of 9th: Wisconsin 8, Beloit 0 Wildness and defensive mistakes/errors are hurting Beloit... Carpenter with 71 pitches in 3 IP, 6 BB Breslow: 3+ IP, 5 BB Rickie Weeks's night is done: 1-2, 1B, BB, ground out EDIT: updates
  6. Wayne Franklin splits: April: 6.07 ERA, 1.55 WHIP May: 4.66 ERA, 1.23 WHIP June: 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP July: 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP
  7. Enjoyed my 2nd Snappers game this evening in Apple-ton... Beloit had a ton of hits early but just could not cash in...Prince has yet to have one real good swing on a ball yet this series, they're busting him inside with fastballs to back him off the plate and then throwing offspeed pitches outside and Prince is out on his front foot hitting them sky high but only to shallow right, i've seen it happen 4 times already this series. Calvin Carpenter threw well...he certainly had trouble locating his pitches though, numerous 3 ball counts...he battled but had a good outing...Jon Huizinga threw extremely well in his first inning of relief got in a little trouble in the next inning but fought through it. A much more patient approach for Beloit tonight as compared to yesterday...although Gwynn is batting 3rd...he has a very good makeup for a leadoff hitter, i'm not exaggerating when i say he has fouled off over 15 pitches so far in 2 games, many with 2 strike counts (take into account he's bunted on the first pitch a couple times) Highlight of the night: Prince swinging at a changeup...becoming off balanced and falling on his backside all the way in the right handed batters box...he swung from his heels and payed the price...a crowd of over 4,000 got a kick out of it... Forgive my length, but another fun game to watch.
  8. I too went to the Snapper game this evening...and let me say that the i'm surprised the umpires made it out alive. Hall got into a jam into the 9th and thought he had gotten out of it with a beautiful pitch which would have ended the inning on a 3-2 count...he called it a ball...the batter end up walking bringing up Gary Harris the Timberrattler leadoff man who hit a base hit to left to win it. Don Money was swearing at the umpires all night long...i had front row seats to the game and i can attest that the homeplate umpire was squeezing the strikezone. The umpires have to walk through the visitors dugout to enter their locker room and the entire Snapper team circled the umps after the game while walking off the field to let them know that they disagreed with the strike zone (profanity laced tryaids) Sarfate was dominant but actually was on the hook for the loss after tossing a 1 hitter before the late rally..Crabbe is a lotta fun to watch...I can back up the statement that both Prince and Gywnn indeed looked silly on a couple occasions swinging at pitches around their ankles.
  9. If he does sign in the coming days...you know when I think he'd probably make his debut? http://www.brewerfan.net/images/rotating/snappers1.jpg
  10. Should the third number be ops instead of slg? I think I am a statistical loser. No, I do believe the 3rd number typically is reserved for slugging...i chose to skip slugging in my above post and cut right to ops.
  11. What is the worst offensive performance, in the history of the Brewers, for a player with over 300 AB in a year? Recently... 2001: Henry Blanco, .210 ba, .290 obp, .634 ops (314 AB) 2000: Marquis Grissom, .244 ba, .288 obp, .640 ops (595 AB) 2003: Royce Clayton, .204 ba, .280 obp, .605 ops (329 AB) The one that springs to mind for me is 2b Pedro Garcia Holds the coveted Brewers rookie record for most doubles with 32 in 1973....the year prior to his sub-mendoza line performance
  12. Please, somone tell me how many Ofers Clayton has had this year. Royce Clayton has played in 98 games this season. By my count...48 of those games, Royce has emerged w/o a hit. April: 7 May: 22 June: 6 July: 13 p.s. great win tonight for the crew
  13. .026 batting average for Royce w/2 outs and runners in scoring position... EDIT: ...now even lower
  14. [ an inning of relief is an inning of relief, whether its in the 7th, 8th, or 9th. ] Statistically, if one were to look at a box score and see that a run was given up in relief in the 7th inning that run counts the same as a run given up in the 3rd or a run given up in the 9th. The 7th inning, 8th inning and 9th inning are different situations though....even if the score is exactly the same throughout each. Emotions and pressure build as the game progresses further and further. It's human nature. Ex: DeJean struggled in the 9th inning and their been arguments that "doesn't Yost know that a run given up in the 7th inning counts just the same"....well short of never pitching DeJean again what exactly would the plan be for using DJ, or whomever.
  15. Baseball America's story is concurrent with this thread....in that Delmon Young isn't likelyt o play in the minors this summer and both Young and Weeks are likely to get major league contracts.
  16. Ford's potential is as a starter and I am 100% behind getting him innings and working him as a starter even if it means some bumps along the way. The Brewers 5th starter is likely going to be a sore spot for the remainder of the season so it's hard to disagree with letting Matt Ford take some lumps but if he keeps struggling doesn't that defeat the Brewers original plan with Ford of building his confidence. No one will probably doubt that Ford should be in minors getting his wings as a starter but as far is winning is concerned, Matt Ford probably isn't the best # 5 starter in the system but as long as he doesn't completely fall on his face I don't mind seeing him take the ball every 5 days...as long as David Manning and Pasqual Coco don't mind either.
  17. Suppan had quite the outing against Milwaukee back in April. 7 1/3 IP 1 ER, 7 K's (win) Hopefully Ford will "keep us in the game" with 5 strong innings.
  18. ::exhale:: Top of the order coming up in the 9th... MIke Lincoln's curveball...penzoil protection, indeed
  19. JP said during the game tonight that Rickie Weeks crew and the Brewers have agreed to not publicize any information related to contract negotiations. Melvin had mentioned to JP that he and Weeks' agent are having "regular conversation". Morale of the story: Don't expect to much information on Weeks, is my understanding.
  20. Way to go Pods....why is McClendon upset???
  21. Brooks gets his money worth during his ABs doesn't he...2-2 count...
  22. runners at the corners...1 out, time for our # 3 and 4 hitters to produce.
