  1. Fair to assume Milwaukee is not presently close to exercising their end of the 2026 mutual option on Hoskins?
  2. Myers and Priester seem like a good comparison. 1-2 lottery tickets plus comp pick is different than decent MLB ready bat to help us in 2025, in my opinion.
  3. Has the first half of the 2024 or 2025 regular season been more enjoyable? I appreciate it is more important how a season ends. Both 2024 and 2025 teams might finish with 55 wins at the break.
  4. It would be nice if Myers put a few zeros this weekend. At present, is his value worth much more than a Mark Canha style bat?
  5. Do we get a draft pick if he wins ROTY?
  6. It’s not catcher, 2B, CF or RF. A stud 1B? Collins has been fine in LF Yelich will continue to get AB at DH Durbin has played pretty well at 3B. A good SS, I guess. But who is that? You could move Turang to SS and get a 2B?
  7. Civale is 0-4 with 5.40 ERA, 5.60 FIP, 5 K/9 for White Sox. Hard to take that into free agency
  8. Milwaukee travels to Los Angeles to face to the Dodgers after the break. Hopefully the Empire does not strike back. Should be another fun series.
  9. Small market clubs have unfair advantages with the revenue sharing and draft picks they receive after losing free agents to big market teams.
  10. Do we think there is more to the story than Murphy simply being disappointed with Joey Ortiz’s approach at the plate recently? He probably was one of the more effective offensive shortstop the past few weeks.
  11. Miller strained his forearm. No timeline yet. Hard to believe it’s been six years since he was with the Brewers. Bednar has been quite good since his April demotion to AAA. He could be our 7th inning guy? 🤷‍♂️ Finnegan is good but if our community loses our mind after every Yophery Rodriguez trade do we want to give up any lottery tickets for a couple dozen innings of Finnegan when we have impact arms in Nashville or returning from injury?
  12. Back end replacement for Megill? I feel like we can improve upon Koenig and Easton with internal options.
  13. Fair points. Quintana for one decent lottery ticket rather than two seems like fair value to me. I’m not a GM, though 🙂
  14. It is worth remembering that every major league team could’ve had Jose Quintana for essentially nothing during free agency. Quintana’s ERA says good starter. His FIP says he is teetering on being ineffective. Quintana is essentially the same pitcher he has usually been this season. It’s hard to imagine getting much more than a lottery ticket. Sometimes lottery tickets turn into Freddy Peralta.
  15. Could we use one of our starters in relief? Murphy doesn’t seem to rest Contreras enough for backup catcher to matter. Plus, Haase has .736 OPS in Milwaukee over 133 PA. I think we need good hitters in general. All our hitters, except Ortiz until recent, have all been pleasantly above average. Hard to be mad at above average but hard to win playoff games if all we are is above average.
  16. That said, Ortiz seems to be in the dog house. We could add SS or 2B and slide Turang over if necessary. I am glad we almost certainly cannot add a reliever.
  17. Not many 3B outperforming Durbin the past month. I can’t imagine Milwaukee benching Hoskins after he returns next month.
  18. I think Milwaukee will be cautious to use Priester’s final option this year. If they send him down this year and he struggles next year, he will have to be put on waivers. I don’t think we would want that.
  19. Two points from Moneyball: - Chad Bradford does not look like a successful major league pitcher (because he threw funny) except he was successful - Jeremy Brown did not look like an athlete and probably wasn’t. He was a 5’10 overweight catcher but he got on base. Ultimately only had 11 plate appearances in the big leagues. Front offices may still overlook players that do not ‘look the part’ in 2025.
  20. 99 EV from Estury Ruiz. Ashby seemed to deflect the ball in self defense with his hand. He finished the inning. Let’s have Easton finish us out.
