  1. Iglesias is a great suggestion. Why aren't more people talking about him as one of the bigger rental relievers on the market? Are the Angels really not going to sell off some of their valuable rental pieces like him? Boy, he'd look great in the back-end of our pen with Hader and Devin.
  2. Gray and Hudson are both interesting suggested targets as well. My only issue with a Gray deal is that he's a rental player, and I'm not sure if another SP is that big of a need right now to go out and get a guy like him? Berrios would certainly cost a lot more, but with a trade like that - you then give yourself at least two cracks at a championship - one this year and one next year. Can you imagine a Woody, Burnes, Freddy and Berrios rotation next season for a full year? Wow! I could easily accept Hudson instead of Kennedy, but decided to go Kennedy since I think I saw that Hudson went on the COVID list today, so assuming he is out for a week or so?
  3. OK - so we're about at 26 hours left to go before the deadline hits (if my math is correct). So, outside of Escobar - who else does everyone think we'll get? I've had this gut feel the past week here that DS has a big move up his sleeve, but I'm just not sure what that move would be? I'd love to see us get someone like Kimbrel, but just not sure how likely it is that the Cubs do a deal with us? So, I'm going to go with the following: Brewers get Jose Berrios from the Twins for Mitchell, Small and Howell This trade then allows us to get a bit more creative with our SP the rest of the way and into the playoffs. Maybe even allowing them to move Houser back into more of a pen role, where he's pitched well in before. Then, I'll say we also go out and get Ian Kennedy in exchange for Payton Henry Am I crazy? Probably....but let me hear what others think will play out over the next 24+ hours here.
  4. So, did Nightengale really tweet that out tonight and then delete it? Or is this a "fake" twitter account that did it? I'm confused by all of this? How does someone like Nightengale tweet something like that if he hasn't at least heard something from his sources?
  5. I know that might be a lot to give up for 1.5 years of Gallo, but I think I'd sign up for that right now. Honestly though...if you thought that you could get Keston figured out this offseason, I might be more willing to take him out of this package and instead put someone like Mitchell or Turang in the deal instead? Frelick can help replace Mitchell in the organization, and with Adames on hand for a few more years we don't necessarily have much room for Turang anyways (unless if he plays 2B after Wong leaves?).
  6. Guys....there's no way that Braun was only in town this week to go to Game 6 of the NBA Finals, right??? Gotta be something else going on here behind the scenes.
  7. I doubt Plouffe though would mention something like this on a podcast if he didn't at least have some inside info here. Maybe he's just hearing this from connections he has from other teams that have mentioned how aggressive Stearns is right now in having discussions with other teams? I agree though that he's probably not getting this directly from someone within the Brewers, as we all know how very little gets leaked from the Brewers front office. Also, isn't Plouffe the guy that was really good friends with Braun? I know nobody would classify Braun as the "big" addition, but maybe he also knows that Braunie is out in Malibu right now working on his first base defense? Lord knows we need a RH first base option with Keston's failures this year.
  8. Yep....could not have said it any better than the previous two posters! Lindblom is just not a quality big league SP. He's in that AAAA territory where he'll have success against AAA hitters, but will get tagged repeatedly by big league lineups. I give Stearns credit for taking a chance on Lindblom after his success in Korea, but unfortunately the risk did not turn into a reward here as I don't think the evaluation was a good one.
  9. I think Gallo would look like the gold glover of the century compared to Vogelbach/Hiura. Exaggerating, but I don't think he would be bad at all. I don't think his move off of first was due to poor defense. I think this is right- when you have a guy capable of playing gold glove-level defense in the OF, you don't play him at first. Sorry - not familiar with Gallo's D. Is he really a gold-glove level OF? I guess I didn't realize that he was that good out there.
  10. Can Gallo still play 1B? I looked at his games by position, and it looks like he's been pretty much an OF/DH - with no games at 1B since '18 and no games at 3B since '17.
  11. What can people tell me about Ashton McGee? Is this a guy that we should start keeping an eye on, or is he just an advanced hitter for low A ball and really needs a bump up to face tougher competition?
  12. Agreed. I think we'd be safe in projecting that Frelick, Black and Binelas would all instantly slot into our Top 20 prospects right away. Riggio I would have to figure would be the 4th guy who would be really close to that 20 spot. Would add some quality depth too to our system, which still badly needs it. And give us a bit of wiggle room if we need to trade a couple of our Top 20 guys in the next few weeks around the trade deadline.
  13. Wow...talk about a flurry of HS picks so far today. I assume that our scouting dept must feel good about their ability to sign these kids, if we are taking them here? Or, do we see a couple of these guys being tough to sign? I would hope that we could at least get the Riggio deal done, as that looks like a major steal in this draft if we can.
  14. It's really easy to forget that Woodruff was an 11th round pick. I know he might be a rarity, but it still goes to show that you can sometimes find some elite talent at this point in the draft.
  15. I'm right with you on this. Really excited that we were able to get Binelas in the 3rd round! I know there are some questions about what position he can play at the pro level, and some concerns about his very slow start this year. But, it appears as if he was coming off of that injury and needed some time to get fully healthy and back to feeling good at the plate again. Looks like he hit over .300 after that first month or so of the season and still hit 19 bombs, playing against some of the best competition in college baseball this year. I know there is some swing/miss in his game, but I'm excited to see if the power potential plays out with him. And, if he does have to move to 1B - I'm not sure if that's the worst thing in the world for us, as we have a glaring organizational hole at that position as well. Hell, even if he turns out to be a .240 hitter, if he could hit 25+ HRs and can stick at either corner IF positions that would be a HUGE boon for us. Exactly! And, wasn't it reported by at least a couple of people that he had one of the more impressive hitting displays at that MLB Draft Combine that they held at some point within the past 2-3 weeks? All of these things really excite me about that pick. Throw in the fact that he is a hometown kid, and I just have a good feeling that he's going to become at worst a real solid player for us in a few years.

  17. Personally, I think you are undervaluing Frelick a bit - as I would clearly put him somewhere in our top 3 prospects. I'm guessing Black will slot somewhere in the 4-8 range on our list, and then I'd probably put Binelas somewhere in the 8-12 range in our system. No way, I'm ranking Binelas any lower than Lutz right now.
  18. Do we know what happened to this league for this year? Was it shelved due to COVID restrictions? I don't recall hearing much about this since it was first reported on towards the end of last year.
  19. I got the sense from Jim Callis on the live stream that Murray doesn't have really one good tool that stands out much? Might be a bit of a head-scratcher pick in this spot? But, who really knows at this stage in the draft.
  20. Who are we hoping for here with our next pick? Any names to look out for?
  21. I know that I'll sound like the old guy that I am, but I'm really not a huge fan of the 10+ jerseys that it seems like NBA teams now have. Maybe i'm just a traditionalist, but I feel like especially in the postseason - the Bucks should not be allowed to wear a bright blue jersey, the Hawks should not be allowed to wear a jersey with MLK on it (especially when they are playing a team from Milwaukee that has those three letters in their name), and the Suns should not be allowed to wear a jersey with "The Valley" written on the front. I'm OK if you want to do this sporadically in the regular season, but I think the NBA needs to force their franchises to wear their normal uniforms during the postseason. I just hope that MLB doesn't follow the NBA in this. I know you need to attract the younger fans who like all of these crazy uniforms, but please just leave them out of the postseason games.
  22. So, I've seen a few teams that have unveiled these alternate Nike City uniforms. I know both Chicago teams have worn theirs already and now the Giants just released their hideous uniforms this week (maybe I'm missing one or two?). My question for anyone that might know the answer is: are all teams going to have these alternate jerseys (kind of like what the NBA is doing), or is this just a handful of the bigger market teams that are doing this with Nike?
  23. YES.....my thoughts exactly! We just picked up a young 1B with years of control - and a guy that has at least proven himself to have some big league success in past seasons. I'm willing to take a chance on a guy like this - and at a position that is a huge need in our system right now. I hope Keston gets things figured out long term, but I'm becoming less and less confident in that by the day with his huge leg kick timing mechanism that is all screwed up.
  24. I guess I don't understand the angst over this deal? Has Tellez struggled so far this year? Sure. But, so did Adames before we made that deal. I'm not saying this will work out nearly as well as the Adames deal has thus far, but Tellez is at least a guy that has had previous success in prior seasons - so it feels like it's worth taking a chance on him figuring things out again in Milwaukee. Also, Richards become absolutely expendable with the emergence of Sanchez and Cousins. We also have the potential to possibly get Topa back in the next month or so here, and I'm sure DS will go out and trade for another reliever before the deadline. Francis seems like a guy who's ceiling is a #5 starter. Sucks to see the pitching depth in the system depleted again, but I think we are OK at that spot with Ashby and Small hopefully ready to contribute in the coming years. I'm definitely OK with this deal. Now, let's just hope that a change in scenery is just what the doctor ordered for Rowdy.
  25. Man, watching some of those hitting clips of Keston really gets me depressed. How did he fall so quickly? That lightning speed bad and the way the ball just exploded when he made contact. Now, he constantly swings and misses at 90mph FB's right down the heart of the plate. Ugh....I know this goes without saying, but we really need this kid to figure it out.
