  1. Holy Sh#$! I guess I was wrong.....and I'm happy that I was! Wow...
  2. I'd be a bit surprised (and elated) if he jumps up 48 spots in their next update. I'll guess a 31 spot jump to 68.
  3. Damn....OK, thanks for the update. Seems unlikely that he would have been lifted for defensive purposes, so this has me a bit nervous about an injury of some kind.
  4. Oh, absolutely! I agree with you in picking out these two AL teams that very well could be desperate enough to give up "the farm" for two years of a #1 type SP like Woodruff this winter. I think both the Tigers and Rangers could be in a position to make a big move like this, especially if they both continue to struggle this year and miss the playoffs. I just thought I would look at their current rosters to see if they could make a trade like you suggested from positions of depth in their organization - and unfortunately at appeared that neither could at those two positions (OF for Tigers and 3B for Rangers). Like you said though, top-end starting pitching is much more difficult to find than help in the OF or at 3B, and both of those organizations aren't afraid to spend $$ in free agency - so they could more easily fill those positions going that route.
  5. I just looked at the rosters of both the Rangers and Tigers further, and I just don't see any way that we'd be able to get either Green from the Tigers or Jung from the Rangers. The Tigers have serious holes in their OF right now, and Green is one of the very top prospects in all of MLB, so very doubtful they would move him this winter for Woody. And, the Rangers appear to have a big hole at 3B as well, and I would guess that Jung would get the callup to man that spot for them very soon here this season. I think we'd have to look at prospects further away from MLB in both of these systems, and I'm guessing that won't really fit our "win now" focus either - so might be hard to swing a fair trade with either of these teams?
  6. Especially when there aren't many great CF targets that look like they are going to be on the market at this year's trade deadline.
  7. Boy, if we could get either of those deals from the Tigers or Rangers this offseason, I think you HAVE to move Woody. As has already been outlined in this thread, you have little to no chance at signing either Woody or Burnes long term, so I think it's imperative that we move one of them this offseason to get as much trade value as we possibly can from them. Yes, it would hurt to lose one of our "big two" arms, but as we all know - we do have good SP depth right now with our major league staff. We could still roll out a rotation next year of Burnes, Freddy, Lauer, Houser and Ashby - with Small in the role that Ashby has been in this year. Then, if you make that deal with the Rangers, you'd potentially have Leiter waiting in the wings to jump into one of those rotation spots. Jobe (deal with Tigers) would be further away from being a big league pitcher, so making that trade with them would scare me just a bit more. But, if DS and Co. like Jobe's upside better than Leiter - then maybe that is the better route to take? This still seems like a lot though to me for either the Tigers and Rangers to give up from their farm system.
  8. Ahhh....I think I must have missed that they had Chourio just inside their Top 100. Yeah, I guess we'll cut them some slack then on Wiemer. But still - feels like a MAJOR oversight to not have that guy on your list at this stage. Hell, I'm not sure if there are 50 better prospects right now in baseball, nevertheless 100!
  9. Yeah, you might be right. Maybe that is scaring some of the prospect evaluators off a bit with him? But boy - he'll follow up one of those games where he has multiple K's with a 3-4 hit performance with a booming home run, and will easily make you forget about that game before where he struck out a couple of times.
  10. I see that some of the publication/sites are starting to update their Top 100 prospect rankings this past week. I don't have a BA subscription, but did I see that they still don't have Wiemer in their Top 100? How is that even possible? Am I overhyping this kid because he's a prospect in our farm system, or is BA just missing the boat on him? MLB Pipeline updated their rankings today, and they have Frelick at 66 and Wiemer at 82. Honestly, I think those two guys should probably be swapped with their rankings (Wiemer at 66 and Frelick at 82), but hey - what do I know? Also, I kind of thought that MAYBE we might see a Chourio sighting on one of these updated lists - in that 95-100 range, but I guess they probably want to see a bit more from the kid at A ball before putting him on their list?
  11. Who are some of the college arms that we might want to hope for late in the 1st round of this year's draft? I know you want to take "best player available," but I sure hope that BPA is an arm this year - as we could really use an influx of pitching talent into our system right now.
  12. Boy, I keep forgetting that they've now moved the draft back to around the All-Star week in July, correct? Was surprised to come here and not see much draft chatter yet, but I guess that explains it. I hear what you're saying about a prep arm, but the Brewers under Stearns also seem to like to find good value in these later 1st round picks. See Turang and Mitchell - who both seemed to fall in their respective drafts. Sounds like this Dutkanych is another one of those guys that might be seeing his draft stock fall a bit right now. But I do agree that I think they'd prefer to find value in a college arm or bat that is falling.
  13. Sorry if this should be posted in another thread on this site (feel free to move it, if it should), but can someone tell me more about both Stivan Cruz and Brandon Knarr. I just don't know enough about either of these guys? Are they both legit prospects to get excited about? "Stuff" guys are more finesse?
  14. What is mlb66? Never heard of that? Do you live here in WI, and does this help you avoid the blackout restrictions? Again, just trying to evaluate what my best option is here this summer to watch games - as I want to keep my YouTubeTV, and not go back to DirecTV or cable.
  15. Do we know for sure that Bally is releasing their own own this summer sometime? And if so, when is the targeted date on that? Will you need to be a DirecTV or AT&T subscriber to get the Brewers games on the app?
  16. OK - thanks for the update. Does anyone with more knowledge than me know if the VPN option will still work OK with MLB.TV? This worked pretty slick last summer when I was forced to go this route, but I'd rather not pay the VPN subscription and the MLB.TV subscription if MLB has somehow figured out a way to prevent people from disguising their location with a VPN.
  17. Sorry if I missed discussion on this somewhere else, but just curious what the best option will be for fans that live in WI but have YouTubeTV? Is the best route still to do the VPN/MLB.TV work-around? Was hoping that the RSN's and YTTV would have come to a deal by now, but at this stage - I'm starting to doubt if that will ever happen, since it's been well over a year now.
  18. I take it that you aren't real high on Keith's evaluation of prospects? Just curious how everyone here feels about all of these prospect evaluators? Are there some that you think more highly of than others? I noticed that Law only had one Cubs prospects in his recent Top 100 - Brennan Davis. So, I was pleasantly surprised that we had two guys in his list, while the Cubs only had one. For me personally I like the FanGraphs content the most, just because it is free & the most comprehensive. Baseball America has been around forever, so I guess I would probably put them 2nd. BPro, MLB, KLaw, etc are all kind of a notch below for me personally. I think the thing with Law specifically is it seems like he digs his heels in on guys sometimes & is slow to consider new information/change his evaluation. Thanks for your feedback. I know most the talent evaluators names, but I honestly couldn't tell you which one's are more reliable than the others. I know Law used to be at ESPN before going to the Athletic, and the Athletic tends to hire good people from what I've seen - so I guess I just assumed that he was pretty highly thought of with his evals. But, I also know from his ESPN days that it seemed like he would go out on more of a limb with certain guys that he really believed in, that other's didn't think as highly of. Would be interesting to go back and actually evaluate the evaluators - to see which one's have had a higher % of success evaluating these prospects over the years. With that said though - I certainly don't have the time to do that! Ha!

  20. I see that Baseball America recently released their Top 100 prospects. I don't have a subscription to their online publication, so just curious if anyone can at least share which Brewers prospects made the cut and at what ranking? I see they also just tweeted out 15 prospects that just missed the Top 100, with a Carolina Mudcats player being profiled on the tweet. But, I can't really make out which player it is?
  21. They had to DFA him to clear spots on the 40. Ah....OK. That explains it then. Thanks
  22. So, I realize this guy clearly had a tough debut in 2021 (just looking at his stats), but why is Cleveland willing to give up on him so quickly that they'd trade him away for cash? Is this strictly a 40 man roster crunch move, or is something else at play here?
  23. Ummmm....what has Lutz done in his minor league career thus far to suggest to you that he's a couple of years away? Maybe he explodes one of these years and gets himself back on the radar screen, but right now I have very little confidence that Lutz is actually going to become a big league guy.
  24. Maybe it is, and maybe it's LA that should have to give up more in this deal. However, we would be getting one of the best young, slugging 1B - who would be controllable for at least the next two seasons AND a cheap and controllable young pen arm. So, it feels like we might have to give up a bit more than just Hader to get both of these guys. But, maybe you are right and we wouldn't have to give up quite as much?
