  1. Sheets last pitch was an 0-2, 95 mph fastball on the outer-half to strike out McCutchen. Awesome.
  2. how much? I want in on this action as well.
  3. All that would have been needed is to not put it in quotes. That made it look like the words came directly from Greinke's mouth. It doesn't sound like he ever said "I'll never pitch in the NL again." To me, that was the biggest part of the supposed quote.
  4. Segura will be better than Ransom or Izturis and cheaper than trying to sign a FA SS. So he will help. The two young arms give us a lot of talent in AA and AAA or in the majors next year. Next year we will have Nelson, Jungmann, Peralta Rogers, Thornburg, Burgos and Fiers and now the two arms from the Angels. That is a lot of young talent and we have guys like Bucci and Scarpetta coming off injuries Every single one of them unproven, and could be total busts. Mike Trout was "unproven" in MLB prior to this season. But guess what... he's a stud. Doug took the best offer and got a couple guys that have a high potential to be good players. I'm very happy with this trade.
  5. Wow, really?? I don't think the Angels would give us Trout for Braun.
  6. @MikeDiGiovanna: #Angels SS Jean Segura now coming off field and to dugout. Deal appears to be done. Guess on Aa Ps: Johnny Hellwig and Ariel Pena.
  7. Mark Bowman @mlbbowman Braves are continuing to search for starting pitching. Little has changed. Greinke and others still in play.
  8. He's still cost controlled on the cheap. Why not let him be a guy off the bench who can fill in at the corners?
  9. @jaysonst: "An official of one team says the Josh Johnson rumors are exaggerated & he estimates "95 pct" chance Johson isn't dealt..."
  10. Yes, there is.No book on them - hitters aren't sure what to expect. Happens all the time. You can't just say, "Yes, there is." and then not show the statistics. Do you have a link to some sort of data?
  11. Don't know why I remember this, but I believe the Orioles did this with Sidney Ponson in the early 2000's.
  12. !!!!!!!11111&&&@@@!1111!!!!!!!
  13. 4th or 5th?? Just curious, but what other positions are of more concern for you if the bullpen is maybe 5th on your list?
  14. I'm a big fan of my DeMarini "The One". This is my second year using it and absolutely love it.
  15. Ummm... Really? I think Gomez is much faster than "Above Average".
  16. Why are we "likely" to be first or second round playoff exits the next couple seasons?? I think pitching pretty important in the playoffs and we have good pitching. Also don't agree about "5 years of futility." Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to project that. How about we wait and see how our minor leaguers perfom this year and what talent we can add in the draft this year. Who knows, the Brewers could flip Fielder or a pitcher at the deadline and stockpile good young talent.
  17. Peter Gammons, "Cain, Escobar, Odorizzi, player to be name later for Greinke indeed pending medicals" I'm assuming the ptbnl is Jefferess, but we'll see I guess.
  18. Any chance Jim Edmonds would be interested in one more season for a platoon role in CF?
  19. Wow! Love it. Didn't know what to expect when I woke up this morning. We gave up a lot, but that's what it takes to get elite players. It's going to be a lot of fun with a team that finally should have the pitching to contend.
  20. Please be true, please be true, please be true. I'd hate to lose Cain and Escobar, but not nearly as much as I'd love to have Greinke.
  21. It seems to me that he has actually started to gain velocity back after TJ surgery.
  22. Well then it's a good thing I never argued that point. If he tears up AA/AAA as a 21 year old I think his value will be quite a bit higher. My only point was to look at Marcum for what he is. He was able to have an excellent season in the AL with the velocity he has. I see no reason why he would pitch worse in the NL. And I see no reason to expect his velocity to drop.
  23. I'd have to go back and look, but I'm fairly certain the losing MPH on his fastball has been mentioned a couple different times, by different people. "Everyone" was obviosly a stretch. I just think that basing part of an argument on something that hasn't happened (losing velocity) seems pretty silly. Hell, Prince wouldn't be nearly as good of a hitter if he starts to lose his plate discipline.
  24. I just don't get why everyone is talking about him losing a few MPH on his fastball. What out there suggests this is going to happen? He's 29 years old and his arm is recovering from TJ surgery. It usually takes over a year to get the arm completely back. Who says he couldn't gain a MPH on his fastball.
