  1. I just don't think this team has the offensive consistency to reel off the 8-10 in a row they'd need to vault themselves back into contention. Starting pitching has been decent, and relief has been really inconsistent. But the offense over the last two weeks has been trash. Yes, we can get guys on base but can't seem to move them along and drive in runs. It is hard to win when you can't score.
  2. I suspect our hitters are pressing and trying too hard. These guys are better hitters historically than they've shown during this slide. Rock said something interesting. He suggested the starting pitchers are being too fine knowing they won't get much run support. All of this is resulting in the team circling the drain. It is all rather sad. Not that many weeks ago we were all excited about this team and this season and now it looks like a lost cause. I'm hoping by playing a terrible Pirate squad will be the elixir to at least get the bats going again so the team will be a little more fun to watch anyway...
  3. I think Jeffress is the most iffy pitcher they have right now. In his last 17.2 IPs - 15 ERs. He is quickly playing his way off the team much less the post-season roster if they make it. Boy, talk about going from the penthouse to the outhouse like Jeffress has! I have no use for Junior either.
  4. Perhaps we should get better umpires! Some of those clowns trying to call balls and strikes are dreadful.
  5. I'm with you. Losing Woody and Knebel were killers to be sure. Hell, we could still turn it around. But I too think 2020 should be interesting.
  6. Losing Woody all this time hasn't helped either...
  7. It will be one tall task to sweep but we need to take the series for sure.
  8. That's a beautiful observation. Ban batting gloves. Players already use that little foam thing around their thumbs and can wrap their batting handle with different materials to alleviate the risk of blisters. Braun would either have to retire or just pretend to go through the motions of re-applying the velcro a dozen times between pitches. Or else he'd have to remove three times as many pebbles on or around home plate in order to get a 30 second breather. Cain is another one who does this with his batting gloves. It is quite the ritual...
  9. Obviously I read that wrong, and Houston is paying closer to $25M/year. Man, that's a lot to give up for one aging pitcher, even one as good as Greinke. How much did this trade do to empty Houston's farm? For their sake they better win it all this year.
  10. I too am eager to see how Grisham does with the big club. He has to be better than Saladino and Shaw right now.
  11. If what we saw last night was sign of things to come that trade will turn out to be great!
  12. Helps to be on the west coast These west coast games are really late for me when I'm down in FL (will be returning home on the 10th).
  13. It certainly did not age well and I'm not saying that just because the remake was so bad~. The original at least had Sharon Stones boobs. And it had a girl with 3 boobs....how can you not like a movie with a girl with 3 boobs? If you were a woman you wouldn't want 3 boobs! 2 is enough.
  14. This I do agree with. His plate discipline has taken a step back this year. He has a hard time not swinging at balls in the dirt.
  15. I wish we walked more, especially when the bases are loaded. Why swing when it is plain the pitcher can't find the plate? Drives me crazy...
  16. Down in FL we get all of the Tampa games so I'll have to keep an eye on Jesus and see how he does. Jesus will keep an eye on you too. Sorry, had to get in the final Jesus joke. I hope he does well up there.
  17. Down in FL we get all of the Tampa games so I'll have to keep an eye on Jesus and see how he does.
  18. The rotational piece you want means trading Hiura. There really isn't anything else in the system worth enough. I do not want to trade Hiura. Basically you are asking for something that isn't possible. I disagree 100%...No way any of those guys available should cost Hiura. Grisham?? Sure, totally fine with that plus other pieces. That's what I thought they would pull off, using him in a deal for one. Now that we see the price for Greinke and the comments from Stearns on the price of quality starting pitchers I think we can safely assume Grisham was not going to get us a quality starter. I think losing Grisham would haveen be a bigger mistake than losing Dubon big time.
  19. I think knebel not pitching one inning was the most important thing. But yes burnes being bad hurt too It will be great to get Knebel back next year. He, Freddy and Hader at the back of the bullpen could be something special in 2020...
