  1. It would be nice, however, to have more than 2 starters who are solid.
  2. I couldn't see the entire game (just the last 3 innings) but from what my hubby said our defense in the 3rd and 4th was a mess. We gave up 7 runs and only 2 were earned? Yikes. You can't play like that and expect to win against anybody.
  3. ....What? Josh Hader has been fine since the All-Star break. Really, really good, like always. Josh Hader is not remotely a problem right now. We kinda forget how good he is when he isn't being used but once a week...
  4. Is Schoop better at 2B defensively though? Jonathan Villar at nearly 1/3 the cost would have been a wiser stopgap if that is what we wanted. Not to mention Villar’s speed is a big boost over Schoop. It was a confusing move at the time and keep looking worse by the day. I can only imagine the Brewers hoped 2017 Schoop was the real deal and that hot week he had was a sign of some sort it was still in him. Now it is blowing up in their face (so far). It was pretty obvious, at least to me, that Counsell had lost faith in Villar. Moving him was probably best for both. I seem to remember people grousing about Villar making boneheaded mistakes on the bases and fielding. It is unfortunate Schoop is struggling at the plate (probably pressing) but he looks to be a lot steadier defensively than Villar was.
  5. How can you say he has not been a good hitter his entire career when his stats - outside of since he's been in Milwaukee - say otherwise?
  6. By not pitching this year Nelson is limited next year. He can’t go from 0 to 200 innings. And he may never be the same again. We really shouldn't be counting on him to return to form in 2019. If he does, great. But we have to look elsewhere and get more than just one starter.
  7. I suspect a lot are sorry we made this deal because Schoop is struggling and we need pitching more than yet another infielder...
  8. http://milwaukee.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2018/08/18/if-you-never-use-hader-did-he-really-happen-hader-jerffress-counsell-lyles-norris-wong/
  9. 100% this, the offense has been terrible all year. Every 5 games or so they bust out and you think things will get on track but then they'll score 8 total runs over a week and get some good pitching in a few of those games and win some to stick around .500. He's really bungled some stuff but a lot of those bunglings wouldn't be noticeable if the offense was at least league average. This offense is just like past seasons even with the addition of Yelich and Cain. We can't manufacture runs to save our life. Even if we get runners on base with less that 2 outs we rarely if ever get any of these runners across the plate.
  10. But even if we start winning again what good would that do? Even if by some miracle we sneak in as a WC we will be exposed yet again. *sigh*
  11. I wouldn't be so sure. And if we win a few of the next 18 what difference will it make?? This team is a disappointment yet again. It's almost like Ground Hog day.
  12. Stearns' dumb moves at the deadline are not the only reason this season is circling the drain. Our approach at the plate is just dreadful. We strike out at an alarming rate and have a devil of a time manufacturing runs. This bunch has a knack of making mediocre pitchers look like Cy Young candidates. I stopped watching the game last night after we got behind by 3 runs. They are the ultimate teasers to us fans.
  13. If things keep going the way they have been since the ASB we won't have to worry about any darn pennant race by the end of next week.
  14. Yes, defensively we were fine. Starting pitching is our issue. Getting Moose was fine but we really didn't need Schoop. Freddy might be a good one someday but he needs more seasoning in the minors. Anderson has regressed. Lord knows if Nelson will ever be the same. Davies shoulder is still bothering him. Chacin has been our only consistent starter this season. This just isn't going to cut it if you are trying to make it to the post season.
  15. Usually when things go great or south it all will be at the feet of the manager. He is the one who hires his staff, creates his daily lineup and gets on the phone to the bullpen. CC changes his lineup more often than I change my socks. And he is averse to getting more than one guy up in the bullpen at a time. He will bring in a guy and sometimes it is evident after a couple of batters his choice of pitcher just doesn't have it that day. By the time he gets somebody up the bases are loaded and/or the opposition has 2+ runs in. If he had another guy up he could bring him in before things get out of hand. I get frustrated yelling at the television telling CC to get somebody up and tossing while the other team is hammering the ball all over the diamond.
  16. I agree more and more each game. From how he handled Knebel ... how he handles guys when we can see plain as day they don’t have it that day ... and how he refuses to use any of the top half of the pen to keep a one run game a one run game ... I really am starting to think CC has a WAR of -5 or so right now... Kept trotting out Boone Logan in tight games as well. When he clearly didn't have I'll never understand why CC doesn't have more than one guy up just in case the guy he brings in doesn't have it = insurance. By the time Counsell realizes his chosen pitcher can't find the damn plate we give up 2+ more runs.
  17. I remember a lot of fans were all psyched when we hired CC. Back then I couldn't understand the excitement. CC has never managed at any level. This reminds me of when GB hired Bart Starr and kept him around forever. CC's handling of the bullpen and screwing around with the lineup every night has been a bad joke all season. And our lack of discipline at the plate is still terrible. We got away with all this nonsense before the ASB because we were scoring runs. Those of you bashing McCarthy at least he coached GB to a championship. This ain't gonna happen with CC. I also blame Stearns for adding another damn infielder instead of starting pitching. What a sad mess.
  18. No kidding. I hope we stomp on them again tomorrow and have more of those cry babies throw a hissy fit.
  19. Lets hope this is the beginning of him getting it back.
  20. Even tho that pitch is off the plate that ump called it consistently a strike all afternoon.
  21. Too bad he can't take over permanently for Rock...
  22. Man, I hope not. This is where CC really botched this game. Soria started warming up way too late. After that first walk Soria should've been warming up. Instead he waited.... and waited.... and waited. This wasn't the first time CC waited and waited. It was evident Knebel didn't have it today after he got behind his second hitter. By the time he was a couple of pitches away from walking the bases loaded CC decides to get on the damn phone and get somebody up. This is what really drives me crazy about Counsell.
