  1. With our tendency to strike out like crazy it will be a miracle if we don't lose by several runs today. Thank God I have other plans tonight so I won't be watching.
  2. Absolutely! You'll get no argument from me about that.
  3. I sure hope so. We do need production from the back end of our lineup.
  4. Yeah, they are giving up. No use even showing up anymore. Sheesh! I get that it hasn't been a great week for Brewer baseball, but the Debbie Downers are starting to get a little overpowering around here. If we haven't had a history of falling off the cliff in the second half of a season more often than not we wouldn't be seeing these depressing posts. Until the Brewers show us they can overcome these bumps in the road we will continue to see negative posts like those in this thread.
  5. Of course hitting in AAA ain't the same as in the majors...
  6. Perhaps this will teach young people and folks in the public eye to be aware of what you say on social media. As someone here said earlier, it might be a good idea for athletes and other celebrities to search their posts and delete anything anyone would construe as offensive and then stay off social media until after you retire.
  7. I didn't see the offending tweets and I don't care to now. If this was tweeted years ago and he isn't this way today I don't have a problem with it. As so many of us have said here - we all have said and done stupid things in our youth. If his minority teammates support him that's good enough for me seeing I don't know this young man personally at all.
  8. Yes, our offensive production has been pretty offensive. Perhaps a change in our hitting coach is needed?
  9. Will it be re-aired at a later date? I will be unable to watch it. Normally I don't care but this time we have 5 players participating.
  10. It is unfortunate we will be facing a team such as this this weekend. It will be pretty damn dreadful if we continue to lose 3 more in a row...
  11. Totally. The ball would be in the air about 300 feet from the plate and the next pitch is being delivered. I saw posts like this on another baseball forum. I thought this was happening too but wasn't there an ump behind the hitters gestering when another ball could be pitched?
  12. Yes, having Knebel or whomever as your traditional closer is fine. Corey usually is effective but what about like Sunday when he isn't? Shouldn't a manager have someone else up "just in case"?
  13. Phillips had a good game yesterday. Let's hope he doesn't contract whatever bug is that is preventing the rest of the lineup from getting hits when we have RISP...
  14. The team is still in the driver's seat for a playoff spot. If Machado improves on the chance of that happening, yes. Without even really giving it a second thought. Also, what do you consider "top prospects"? I keep seeing that thrown around, but it's pretty subjective. I am not as familiar with our minor league prospects as others. I'll leave this to others here who know more than I do.
  15. I don't mind having a conventional closer but when your guy can't throw anything other than a fast ball for strikes in a particular game you can't sit in the dugout and hope he "finds" it before your lead is gone. There is nothing wrong with having more than one guy warm up before the 9th 'just in case'. We needed that win yesterday big time. I hope that terrible loss doesn't haunt the team going forward.
  16. I don't want Stearns to do anything. Machado would be great but he won't come cheap. Do we really want to give Baltimore top prospects for a half a season rental?
  17. Counsell has been driving me crazy all season. Everyone could see Knebel didn't have it yesterday but he sends him out again in the 9th and Pitt ties it up. We regain the lead in the 10th and CC does the right thing and brings in Williams. Williams is pitching fine but CC decides to pull him anyway with only one out to go and puts in Jennings, who is uneven to be charitable. This last loss is gonna sting for a while. Perhaps having a few days off will be the elixor to turn this mess around before we end up with a worse record than the Pirates when it is all said and done.
  18. Not if you are playing into October. October? I didn't think we have any regular season games scheduled past September.
  19. If we get swept it wouldn't surprise me in the least with the way we are playing right now. Losing that series to the Marlins like we did was dreadful and the Pirates are a lot better than Miami.
  20. With the way we've been playing lately we don't deserve 1st place. We've had plenty of opportunity to put distance between us and the Cubs but in typical Brewers fashion we tend to screw it up. Unless they find a way to actually score points without hitting homers and have more consistent pitching we'll always be a second class club in this division.
  21. We only have 3 quality starters. Maybe peralta can become a 4th quality guy but prolly not for another season. Just outgunned today with miley and houser. Pittsburgh isnt a bad team and we knew we would need at least 5 runs today. Fell short but we have Gurrea, Chacin, and Anderson pitching the next 3 with a fresh bullpen. Should be fine. I'm more concerned that we can't hit our way out of a paper bag. We rarely score unless somebody gets a homer. Because we can't manufacture runs by other means most of the time we allow average to poor pitchers on teams like Miami look like Cy Young clones.
  22. Let's just hope it doesn't mess up his swing in the second half of the season....
  23. One thing they should change is having the players vote later in the season. Evidently the players voted in mid-June.
  24. How bad is Shaw's ankle? Perhaps after this disappointment Stearns will seriously consider getting another bat before the trade deadline...
