  1. This is my major gripe about Counsell. He saves relievers for situations that may never occur. We were losing a game in SF by one run, and brought in Albers, while keeping Soria, Jeffress, and Hader all in reserve. The Brewers scored later in that game after Albers gave up 3 runs, putting the game out of reach. If you're ONLY going to use those best relievers when you're ahead/tied, you're basically saying you're punting whenever you're down. It's just a restrictive and dumb strategy (IMO of course) This is my major gripe too.
  2. Yes, let's see how he does at Miller Park this weekend.
  3. It wasn't fun to lose like we did last night but we still had a successful road trip out west. Let's take care of business at Miller Park this weekend.
  4. Yeah, I never understood the binary thinking of past GMs where you either folded or went all-in. We acquired two (EDIT: THREE!!) All-Star players and gave up (currently) mostly AAAA type players. Sure, they could develop into Major Leaguers, but other than Villar none of them were a lock to even make a meaningful contribution at the MLB level. And there aren't many people shedding tears over losing Villar. Villar always drove me crazy. He could hit decently enough but he made more boneheaded decisions defensively and while running the bases.
  5. I think they have four lefties but at least 3 this week, would be a great time for a Braun break out and Jesus to snap out of it. If they don't this could be a long series...
  6. I agree with some of this (my previous rant about individual games, not series wins being all that matters, lol), but the Giants aren't a contender. They'd be well served to admit it and get out of baseball purgatory. We took 3 out of 4 on the road. If someone told us before this road trip started that we would win that series I have a feeling most of us would gladly take that. We've gone to the left coast in the past and got blasted. We were going for the sweep and sweeping teams, even non-contenders like SF, on the road is not an easy thing to do. This coming series in LA is going to be a real test for sure. *fingers crossed*

  8. For us I think it might. We were struggling offensively - perhaps because guys were trying too hard? Now with another legit bat guys can relax and just play. And with these moves management tells the players they are all in and this could jack up the clubhouse too.
  9. When I return to FL and the Crew is on the west coast those damn games start at 10 PM for me.
  10. CC is about as good at challenging plays as McCarthy is...
  11. It would be great to sweep the Nats but I'll be surprised if we do. Sweeping teams ain't easy.
  12. So by tomorrow afternoon? I wouldn’t count on that happening. I would be happy with a Dozier acquisition at some point. Are the Twins shopping Dozier? I thought I read somewhere that they weren't...?
  13. So no free agent acquisition is impressive? If you get one cheap he fell into your lap? If you pay for one that doesnt count either? The fact of the matter is Stearns went out an got 3 guys who are easily outperforming their contracts in Cain, Jeffress and Chacin. Add on top of that getting Yelich without selling a huge chunk of the farm. He didnt without giving up any of our top pitching and without giving up Huira. That is impressive. And he got one of the top NL Ofers who is controlled for a while. I am not sure what a GM can get credit for in your mind This. Stearns isn't perfect by any means but criticizing him for those offseason moves seems to me to be complaining just to complain because the team is scuffling right now.
  14. For what it’s worth I think Walker performed admirably last year during his brief stint with the Brewers. Wish we had him back actually. Me too. He'd be better than what we have presently.
  15. It isn't that hard to believe when we have a devil of a time scoring runs when we don't homer. I've said it before in other threads - until we learn how to manufacture runs by getting timely hits or send the ball into the outfield when we have a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs this offense is gonna sputter the rest of this season.
  16. My biggest beef with this team in their approach at the plate. They can't manufacture runs to save their souls and this has been a problem for a couple of years now. If we don't homer we usually can't score. We strike out at an alarming - rate looking at strikes and swinging at balls.
  17. Stearns shouldn't be making any moves this year, frankly. It appears the team has returned back to earth.
  18. We use alphabet pitching. Williams was up then Woodruff. Everything will cycle back to Barnes being next up today. Otherwise, in a tight game, i have no answer why we put woodruff in unless we really dont care. stick a fork in us, season over. Doesnt appear we will win many more games. Not trading CB for MM was the end. I'm not all that unhappy about not getting MM. I'd rather Stearns go after someone who isn't a FA in 3 months. But in reality Stearns shouldn't be working the phones at all right about now. It was a fun half a season but this team isn't a playoff team by any stretch.
