  1. Accounts from Washington was that the Phillies fans would attend in droves during their good run about a decade ago. But that's about the closest recent example. Maybe being in a different league and division than the Cubs wasn't so bad. The Marlins and the Rays have the similar issues down here.
  2. How are you going to spend your October? Cheering on the Cubs I hope! No thank you. My brother lives in DC so I'll cheer for the Nats.
  3. I'll say it again - until this bunch can figure out how to manufacture runs/play small ball and not depend upon the HR to score we won't have to depend upon our bullpen to pitch mistake free to have a chance to win.
  4. Unfortunately this has been our Achilles' Heel since the AS break. We had multiple opportunities to get runs across last night - just a deep fly ball would have done the trick a couple of times - but we just couldn't put the ball in play. And when we did we hit into double plays. Until our hitting woes are corrected it won't matter who is relieving, even if we pass Colorado for that second WC spot.
  5. Until this bunch figures out how to hit in the clutch we will continue to be the little redheaded stepchild in this division.
  6. This team has been doing that - failing to put the ball in play - a lot this season, not just these last 2 games. Hell, we can't get a deep enough fly ball with one out and a guy at 3rd to score.
  7. No kidding. That bunch has been a pain in our keister forever.
  8. There have been numerous times this season where we had a chance to put some distance between us the Cubs but we never could. I believe we have the pitching going forward but until our offense is more consistent we are going to have problems winning when we have to. However, no matter what happens in these last couple of weeks this has been a fun season. Nobody expected this group to be in contention in September last April. The future for this team hasn't been this promising in eons. If our guys can become more patient at the plate and drive in more runs 2018 can be special.
  9. If they do give the proceeds to Irma relief that would be wonderful. We got lucky and our home was spared but there are too many people really suffering. There is no power in our community and folks down there are miserable without a/c.
  10. That would be a lot of fans if the game was in Miami. For some reason they just don't get fans to go to games there. It looks like a decent place too with a/c.
  11. One reason pitchers might be more prone to injury might be because they never have had to bat or run the bases until they get to AA. So for most of their playing days since they were kids they never had to hit or run the bases and it shows.
  12. The guy led with the crown of his helmet. You think they should just let that go? Yes, its called playing football. It has been going on for generations. And generations of players are now messed up after multiple head injuries. I love football but do we really want players to have neurological issues later on in life?
  13. Didn't the Nats load the bases and get nothing last night too?
  14. Yes, I don't know why he isn't getting more playing time. Right now he looks better than Thames does.
  15. I don't hate him but if you aren't getting the job done what good are you? They gave Wily Peralta a dozen chances to fix himself.
  16. Yes, I don't understand that either. MLB should just give a team 2 or 3 challenges per game or leave it like it is and a manager cannot ask for one later on if he is out of challanges.
  17. After this weekend, our schedules are essentially the same. If we are still within 3 on Monday, the division is still within reach. Absolutely. It is a minor miracle we are seeing how our offense disappeared after the ASB. Our pitching has been a nice surprise, actually.
  18. I guess I just wish we were a little more disciplined at the plate. Its hard to move guys over and/or get runners in from 3rd with less than 2 outs when you can't put the darn ball in play...
  19. It looked that way because he jumped well before reaching the wall. That ball goes off the top of the wall if it's not caught. From what I saw if Keon misses it that is a HR, no question. His mitt was at least 4 inches above the top of the wall.
  20. Outside of Garza our pitching hasn't been that bad and our set -up man and closer are great. IMO the reason why we are struggling to get anything going is our putrid batting. If we don't hit a HR we have a devil of a time scoring. We lead the league in strike outs and that is one stat NOBODY wants. I have a bad feeling this isn't gonna get fixed in time to get into the post season this year. What can be done to address this problem going forward?
