  1. I doubt will change much at all. There is no "true leadoff" hitter on the roster and the guys who you expect to hit for power have been pretty putrid all year. Maybe he'll hit the pitcher 8th. Brewer fans heads might explode then. Will Craig put Segura in the lead-off role once he returns to the lineup?
  2. Like I said a couple pages back - that pitcher did NOT want to hit Segura like that. Everybody got shook up about it. You can tell when someone is head hunting and when it is an accident.
  3. Lot tougher changing GM's in midseason. Melvin could still be stepping down after this year. He's turning 63. As for Counsell suddenly turning them into pennant contenders, if he gets them playing to their ability levels, anything can happen with 137 games left. Not going to be easy, but they aren't buried in terms of wild card just yet. They were appearing to show some signs of emerging from the major hangover effect of last season's collapse. Finally holding the manager responsible can't hurt. I think we should all hope Counsell can get the guys to play more fundamentally sound baseball - don't screw up on the bases, move runners over and be more patient at the plate. If they do these 3 things we'll see a better brand of baseball if nothing else.
  4. We hope... I certainly hope not, as Matheny is possibly the worst tactical manager in the league. At least he wins.
  5. Evidently he became nauseous standing at first. He stayed in Chicago under a doctor's care and the rest of the team left for Milwaukee. I'm sure he has a concussion. Appreciate the update (genuinely, don't take the rest of the tone of my post as being directed at you!). That's not surprising at all. Of course he got a concussion -- he took a big-league pitch to the head! But hey, let's let him walk it off... Yes, it was really stupid to leave him in there. I was surprised he got up so quick. I guess we can't question his grit.
  6. Jean Segura waves hello. I would imagine that he might have some interesting things to say about playing for manager who allows others teams to constantly pitch further & further inside with no fear of retribution. Honestly I am somewhat stunned that so many here, who are otherwise so incredibly intelligent about Baseball, don't understand just how important this particular topic is at the professional Baseball level. I don't believe for one moment that was intentional at all. You could see the reaction of ALL of the players to that - on both sides.
  7. I was kinda hoping they would go outside the organization for a real change.
  8. Well now you're definitely wrong... but only in thinking that I noticed what you actually said. Noticing stuff, or more accurately not noticing stuff, is just one of the many wonderful things about growing old. Thanks for clearing it up for me. There are no bones in ice cream. This old lady screws stuff up too.
  9. He'll probably say they would've won 120 of he wasn't the manager... He'll probably say your team better win 96 games with Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Hart, Braun, Fielder, Weeks, and Axford all in their prime. Free swinging and making outs on the bases is the exact opposite of what it takes to be a winning baseball team and that's pretty much what Roenicke is promoting with his style. The problem is he is too "nice" and so guys think they can keep making the same mistakes without any recourse. Do you disagree? RR's managing style was frustrating. The guys kept making the same stupid mistakes while RR would stand there in the dugout impassively. Hitters had zero plate discipline and if they walked it was a miracle. Our guys rarely could figure out how to drive in a run with RISP and only one out. He kept pitchers in even if they couldn't find the plate in hopes the guy could work out of the jam the poor smuck created. Often RR only had one guy up in the 'pen. It was almost like it didn't occur to RR that the guy he put in there just might not have it that day. A couple of days ago late in a game in Chicago the score was 0-1 with a RISP. Instead of putting in his hottest hitter to pinch hit - Lind - he put in Herrara who struck out. I have nothing against RR the man. He seemed like a decent fellow who tried but is woefully inept at managing a big league ball club. I doubt Counsel - who a lot of folks seem to think will be next - will be any better.
  10. I don't want a guy with zero coaching experience in the bigs as our next manager right now. Why not? They seem to have already labeled this season a total loss and Jebus knows there's been more than enough complaining on here about "retread managers." I'm not asking to be a turd, I'm really curious as to why. Notice I said "coaching experience" and not managerial. I don't know if we are going to be rebuilding this team we want a neophyte who has never coached at any level (that I know of) in charge, that's all.

  12. Perhaps he was too nice or at least too nice to manage. He might be better off a position coach somewhere else instead.
  13. He should have been fired back in October, frankly. I guess we can't fire the lot of them so you start with RR. For now.
  14. Evidently he became nauseous standing at first. He stayed in Chicago under a doctor's care and the rest of the team left for Milwaukee. I'm sure he has a concussion.
  15. I hope so too but will it matter if we can't hit?
  16. Big difference. Facing a AAA Pitcher first appearance call-up and Facing a Team's Ace. Which btw, I feel like the Brewers are facing a team's ace in every series, which would mean seeing a lot of #2s too. Not to defend them or anything, they are ML players and should be able to hit ML pitching. Feel bad for Peralta after last season he's now 0-4 to begin this season...Do we have the Jeff Samardzija of a few seasons ago brewing? I thought Peralta was great yesterday. He got himself into jams but worked his way out of them. Our pitching hasn't been that atrocious lately but we still can't hit ourselves out of a paper bag. Our approach - if you want to call it that - is terrible.
  17. I thought yesterday's performance by Garza was one of his better ones in a while.
  18. Because we are mostly a bunch of free swingers. Why throw the Brewers strikes early in the count? Why risk leaving one over the plate? They throw us junk, we get ourselves out. We have to be the most undisciplined bunch of hitters I've seen in years. They have no clue what they are doing up there. Its been eons since we've manufactured a run without the other team screwing up. If we don't hit HRs we just don't score.
  19. Looks to me like Lind needs a 8-9 year deal through his age 40 season at 15 million per year to me. Makes total sense. I spit my drink out this morning when I saw Schafer in the 2 hole...that was great. Too bad this awful lineup is actually scoring runs on our nemesis Lance Lynn, maybe it needs to be this way full time lol. Yes! Let's have this lineup with Maldy tomorrow in Cincy!
  20. People will forgive a guy for using but not so much for lying about it like he did. And he 'seemed' to be the last guy you would think would be using. I really didn't want to believe it at the time. We see how he is reviled everywhere outside of Milwaukee. Yes, if he can perform anywhere close to where he was before he got caught in time all of this talk will be history.
