  1. Johan doing what he do. He'll make it into the 8th at this rate.
  2. I am glad this kid is not a Cub anymore...
  3. pitch count by inning for Santana 4 days ago: 19, 20, 13, 12, 6, 16, 15, 24 = 125 He made it through 8 innings because of that vacation in the 4th & 5th. Fish need to link three 20+ pitch innings together to really exhaust Johan.
  4. Man, Nolasco is no slouch... no one I would rather have going for the Fish. the Ghost of Juan Pierre, right? Ha.
  5. Call me crazy... but if I'm Lou, I want Sabathia - Sheets - Gallardo out of October, and I'll take my chances with Johan - something - something.
  6. what's the splits analysis on Micah over Kosuke? Or did Lou decide the thunder bat from last night would fare better rather than the slap attack? Permanent move? I did not see this line-up coming.
  7. I disagree completely. We'll be getting the real thing on the line-up card as well as all bullpen arms ready to go. With the vacation that Marmol just got, we need lots of runs early. Wood faced 4 batters in New York, too. Sure, if it's a blow-out after 6 innings one way or the other, players are going to come out. But Lou knows to get his team mentally prepped for the post-season and sure would not want to gift wrap any semblance of a psychological edge to the Crew. He would be opening himself up for a deluge of criticism (not that he'd care) along the whole rest versus rust lines. I expect to see everybody except DeRosa play the majority of innings as well as Marmol twice.
  8. figuring out a way to win this game may mean the difference of (if it comes to that) CC getting to pitch twice in the NLDS. the Pirates are Major Leaguers with a lot of pride; I know this is a trap game that they'll go down fighting for. 1 - 14 is hard to swallow.
  9. another interesting scenario is the MIL-PHI-NYM three way tie... Mets would go to Philly for game #163 on Monday. Brewers would then go to either stadium for the NL Easter's game #164 on Tuesday. Having the NLDS start on Wednesday is the only hang-up, but we could be playing one banged up foe. Meh. Win it outright and get CC and Kendall some rest.
  10. What does it say about our Team that we are 16 games over .500 for the season... ...with a 13 - 1 record against the worst, most down trodden franchise in the league? Pirates should come out tomorrow with some serious pride on the line. Token Trap Game.
  11. Jimminy Cricket! That Howry K and Torres K must have happened within minutes of each other. Let's call that the end of the Mets season, shall we? Lead-off triple in the bottom of the tied ninth... to come up with NOTHING! How 'bout the Cubs & Mets play a nice 22 inninger?
  12. that video of Gagne "doing the clay compound mound pound" in Cincy is laugh lout oud material. geez, the Canuck looks creepy good. even when the stupid crowd started booing on 3 - 0 to Slappy Morgan... Let him have his manicurists.
  13. asking people to do things they aren't used to / trained to doing = bad management. ANY industry
  14. agreed. we take care of our business (bullpen tonite & untuckemin tomorrow), and we are sitting 1 back of them going into game #160.
  15. 3 hits this inning is Necessary to take the decision away from Dale. CC Needs to come out. Trust in the pen.
  16. I, too, am quite flumuxxedly flabbergasted by Rickie's fetching success in the non-first lineup spot. "But he's among the league leaders in runs scored. (he's not going anywhere)" Well yes Ned, that is true.
  17. More fun baseball please. And by fun, I mean win. Great video blog by Olney on Sabathia over at ESPN... says scouts identify CC is fatigued, lowering the arm angle, throwing a disproportionate amount of breaking balls. Worth a watch. are more Arsenio Hall towels showing up; will that be a staple of the homestand? Can they hand out 20K yellow and 20K blue... I would like that much more.
  18. I apologize - I do not mean to come off as condescending - but why is this a big deal? I mean, if a scoop falls in the forest, and nobody is there to hear it... does it make a sound? Who was scooped... and in identifying this scoop, does the scoopee give credit to the scooper? Like, if ESPN lists in the preview of the series: "...Yovanni Gallardo to start Thursday as reported on _____..." Doesn't there have to be a recognition of the scoop somewhere for it to exist? I admit I am new to the nuances of journalism and blogging, but this has to be somewhere in between creating a story and getting to type "First" on one of TH's blogs.
  19. I have been wondering what long term impact this unorthodox decision will have in the community of "baseball men" in relation to the image of the Brewers franchise. Below are 2 quotes from the fraternity - and there's got to be some bite from every major league mananger on the topic - that, of course, have Ned's back. But I think this is going to be a negative scar for a longer time than we think. I wouldn't be surprised if Doug voluntarily stepped down either to divorce / absolve himself of the situation in good standing. At the bare minimum, for MA to hire another 'top tier' manager it's going to take an extra year or a bigger figure on the contract to assuage concerns the prospective manager might have about his job security. Ron Gardenhire: "Yeah well, you know, I tell you, that's nuts. That's crazy. I don't know. Here's a guy who's done a pretty good job. I don't want to go there. I hid in the bathroom. I know that." Bobby Cox: "I just think it's awful. I'm flabbergasted. I've never heard of anything like that. They can say what they want, but he turned that entire organization around. "He got them dressing and playing like professional athletes, with a lot of enthusiasm. They've only got to win a few more games and they're in [the postseason]... Now, it's all taken away."
  20. Man, you're just the eternal optimist aren't you? this is the clown who still thinks it's hilarious to make fat jokes about Prince, right? just go back to the JS Online forum; you add nothing to this community.
