  1. It's a tie game, last time I checked.Isn't that Mets game still tied, too?
  2. Per Tom H: "Sheets left the game with right forearm tightness. He told Sveum that he did it swinging the bat, which came courtesy of the ESPN cameras" Now I realize that blogs don't have to have impeccably precise grammar and sentence construction, but what the heck does that mean? adding 'which' after 'bat' is a direct descriptor link; meaning, the bat came courtesy of the ESPN cameras. What exactly happened?
  3. Is the answer to my 12-month old signature really going to be: injured arm while standing in the batters box? I mean, really? Or will today just be considered his bullpen session and he'll be on the hill in 3 days?
  4. Psht... the Cubs still use that antiquated "get em on, get em over, get em in" approach. How cute.
  5. CF 2B LF 1B SS RF 3B C P My CTRL+ALT+DEL is not working... my CPU is crashing... how do I fix this? What is wrong with this Bizarro Brewers offense? I cannot think this non-linearly and my Pavlovian responses are all misfiring.
  6. Wouldn't Escobar "carry some runs in his glove" as Yost (sniffle, tear) fondly used to say about Cameron?
  7. please Brewers offense cannot afford another hit ball score runs win http://www.whereistheoutrage.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/dead-computer.jpg
  8. Here is my bold prediction: Game 1 (#151, actually): Sabathia v Zambrano @ Wrigley (man, what a match-up!) will be rained out due to Ike. Chicago has been getting absolutely non-stop pounded by rain since Gustav's and Hanna's respective landfalls. Ike is going to bring some major precip up in that boosh, too. So get to Wrigley on Wednesday for the double header double Ace dip. edit: someone with some more meteorological inclinations can confirm Chicago rain periods post-lead-time of hurricane landfall to make it a less bold prediction.
  9. I realize it is very bad that when there are Brewers on the basepaths I think of force-outs instead of potential runs.
  10. 16 games left! Isn't it amazing how that is a full 10% of the season? I know if I was getting an 'A' in a class and decided to skip the final exam worth 10% of my grade I would walk out of there with a 'B'. 16 games seems like such a drop in the bucket but 10% seems so huge.
  11. True true, this is advantageous to the True Blue Brew Crew. However, I believe the Prince of Darkness noted the Padres landed in Milwaukee at 5:30 in the morning after playing a night game coinciding with a day off of ours and proceeded to "field dress" us for game 1 of that series. We need a hurricane, too, so Kendall can get some rest. Aah, Yost would have him doing extra squats or something.
  12. yes, BUT... it will "happen" during game #161 versus the Cubs. They'll all hoot and holler and claim responsibility for it all, I am sure.
  13. please... just not 5 - 4 again. i would take a grand slam 7 - 4 pasting before another 5 - 4, for some reason.
  14. Boogie. The cagey vet. Boogie woogie woogie.
  15. If I am Mark A I am fuming mad I picked up the (what? $3,000,000) tab to call up 8 minor leaguers that aren't used. Yost needed to send a message... give these guys a mental slap in the face before the biggest series in 26 years. Trot this out there and let the MLB guys think about the last nine games: TGJ - CF Escobar - SS hell, Weeks (belongs in this group) - 2B Gamel - 3B Rivera - C Dillon - LF Nelson - 1B Nix - RF Sabathia - P
  16. Series in Philly is going to be like Shockwave... just going to rattle your head back and forth mercilessly between the headrests. After falling behind 9 - 1 they are back in it with their F-350 style offense, deep into the underbelly of the Fish pen. Now about this broken down Vespa we are watching...
  17. so what was the status last night of the Untuckemgate? i was scanning through the JS's blog comments (the shame, the horror; guilty as charged) where someone mentioned shirts remained tucked last night? what gives?
  18. how completely and uttlerly ridiculous. these new $50 bills are too big for my wallet... this kobe beef burger is 3/10 of a pound, not 1/3 #%#*!@... my supermodel girlfriend decided to wear her ugly bikini to the beach today... my dog is only trained to grab me 1 beer from the refrigerator... pulling sheets was so fundamentally anti-yostian that what mattered more to me than anything was seeing cognitive flexibility exercised in his cerebral cortex. personally i think it had more to do with the extra long top half of the seventh than pitch count. Sabathia out after 96 thrown and Ben out after 99 and 2 ballgames won... now THAT is a - forest and the trees - late August turn of the top of the rotation. heck, i'd like to see a 6 man instituted to keep em octoberly fresh and spunky, but that's a conversation for another day.
  19. the line score isn't pretty anymore. i'm headed to the vent thread.
  20. a valid question, but does it have to be tied to the single to have value? one needs to factor in how many / what type pitchers, too. if it's against a starter, i would say 9... (pitch count through 3, ideally, = 90): bunch of "grit" gets into the underbelly. if it's against a reliever, i would need to know how the opponent's bullpen was used over the past 4 days. i suppose what game in the series it is also matters. if a bunch of 10 pitch at-bats chase the starters and the under belly is weak - then by game 3 those ABs are relatively more valuable
  21. Bill Hall, is that you? I had to look it up. Actually, COMPLETE coincidence that ESPN has him projected for 447 AB this year (Ha! Way to go universe!) and similarly projected for .225/.294/.401/.694 41BB 133K downright wacky.
  22. i think this in only slightly related to this thread, except it's more relevant to the strength / strategy of opposing teams' rotations: can you imagine a situation where: 1) the Crew and Cubs are tied going into game #162 2a) John Maine has been shut down for the Mets... 2b) ...heck, why not figure that Pedro has assumed his regular hospital status, too... 2c) ...yet NY has still finished with a better record than the Snakes 3) Arizona has Webb & Haren rested, stacked and ready to start NLDS games 1 & 2... 4) ...Randy J has discovered Ponce de Leon's old diaries and the soft tossing double-D still gives the Crew fits 5) setting up the Wild Card to travel to the duct taped Mets and the NL Central Champ to host the 2007 playoffs-galvanized D-Backs I think #1 is the biggest stretch, of course, and #2c is assumptive, but how about: 6) Ned Yost walks to the mound before DiFelice throws a pitch, forfeits the game and hops on Ma-At's jet to Shea.
  23. I am happy that the fan that "spins the turnstile" for the 3,000,000th time will be a Brewers fan. Eeep... Well, maybe I'm speaking too soon... my ultra-conservative estimates, which have the crowds dipping into the 38Ks for the September mid-week games, have us hanging around 2,975,000 after game #159. Crikey, if they announce, during that first Cubs game, a congratulatory "thank you fans" message and all the randy FIBs start hooting and hollering... that will not be a pretty - nor deserved - site. I honestly think the books would get cooked to not let that happen. EDIT: based on input from above and projections... 3M should happen during the last game of the Pittsburgh series. Double Wow: considering the Pirates are next to last in the league (Marlins) for their home draw, Miller Park came on-line the same year as PNC, they will be commiserating in their MLB record-tying (?) 16th straight losing season... could not be a starker contrast in the direction of the 2 franchises for the past almost decade. Kudos.
  24. If I'm the usher, I note the repulsive situation and use my authority to get 2 cups from the concession stand. I walk over with the 2 cups, express (non-verbally, perhaps) my disapproval of the unconventional and un-hygienic mess and say "guys, please use these for your shells from now on." So it appears both parties are "off base" here. But since when did purchasing a 20 game pack bestow "season ticket holder" status? I don't mean to provoke, I mean to add "partial" in there somewhere.
