  1. As an out of towner, I whole heartedly agree. To both parts...the Bucks/Marquette is a pain in my butt when I go to them, Brewer games are a breeze.
  2. Unless the Brewers think he can play 3rd base...I could see this being way more viable and realistic if we think he can stick there. (I've read he can play all infield spots plus CF.) He's worth all of the money to us if he can play 3rd.
  3. We're definitely going to make a run at Moncada. It's just a matter of whether it will be enough & whether MA is ready to make the leap and try to get the next Robinson Cano at 2nd base. The guy has the potential to take over for Braun as the face of the franchise when he gets old. Pisses me off we came so close to Abreu last year, but my guess is we'll try at least as much as we did him, and probably up it a little more. There's a ton of salary coming off the books next year, and i'm pretty sure that is way more flexibility than when we tried for Abreu.
  4. Maybe one of these days i'll wake up to a Beachy signing? If he's healthy I still don't understand why we wouldn't ink him and let him start the season in the #6 / long relief role and be available should one of the starters struggle or go down. The upside is there, and hes controlled through 2016. Let's get it done Doug.
  5. There will be ample money to sign Lucroy, and maybe even Gomez if they really want him. We have young controllable talent coming up in the next few years that will give us salary room. (Arcia, Taylor, Harrison, Coulter, Nelson, etc etc)
  6. No way they pass it UNLESS they all get a little pork coming back their way.
  7. Brandon Knight is one hell of a clutch player. Granted it was a poor team on paper, but I love seeing us battle one out there and not give in. These kinds of wins are going to be valuable down the road to these young kids...they're figuring out how to become winners. Don't look now, but the Bucks are closing in on the vaunted Chicago Bulls for the #5 seed...the same Bulls that feature a lineup of Derrick Rose (max player if healthy), Jimmy Butler (soon to be max player), Pau Gasol (allstar), and Joakim Noah (allstar). Contrast that with Brandon Knight, Jared Dudley, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and John Henson and it makes it all the more impressive, regardless of who we're beating.
  8. Konerko / Dunn were at 1st. I think Viciedo came up as a third baseman if memory serves me right.
  9. Like the optimism Pete...Like I said I am torn because I could see the Brewers becoming quite good with a Shields signing and a Nelson deal for a legit 1B. Dealing Nelson though is not something I want to do because it flies in the face of how I want the Brewers to be run. I would rather they stay put with where they currently are but a Shields signing without a corresponding move that deals Nelson for more immediate O really makes no sense to me. Being that Preller is not our GM, the ship has sailed on a so called "legit 1B" trade. Lind / Lucroy is a "legit 1B" anyway, don't see what the issue is. Third is our most pressing need the next few seasons.
  10. "Shouldn't" doesn't mean they couldn't afford. Now would it be good business? I can't say either way given the merchandise Lucroy drives but I will agree that is a ton to pay for a 31 year old catcher. As for Gomez, he will be a 31 year old FA after 2016. I'm sure the Brewers would offer him the standard 5 year $100 million deal or $20m per year. Whether he takes it or not doesn't mean they can't afford him as I can't imagine a team paying a 31 year old CF that plays reckless much more than $20m per. Gomez should be on the trade block NOW...the haul we would get is well worth it. I don't want him around for his next contract at 20 mil per (and I love Gomez). Parra can handle the CF duties and we could immediately restock our farm into a good-great farm.
  11. How would we keep track of which Ch(Kh)ris Davis is hitting all the bombs out of Miller Park?
  12. Reggie Evans.
  13. They are by far the worst in the league for an above .500 team vs other above .500 teams. http://espn.go.com/nba/standings/_/type/expanded Of the 15 teams in the league over .500, only 2 other teams are more than 1 game below .500 vs over .500 teams -- Phoenix and Washington. It feels like they are playing everyone close though...would be curious to see more information. In a couple of years though the record may be reversed. I find it very encouraging to watch this team...never in a million years did I think I would love Dudley when we got him but he may be my 2nd favorite player on the team (Giannis #1).
  14. I think Knight is absolutely untradeable at this juncture. Each season he's taking a step forward, and damn near got himself an All-Star berth this year. When is the last time we could say that about a Buck? Redd's illegitimate spot? IMO Knight is essential to us taking the next step. Players don't have a specific position in Kidd's system, so we can get away with a combo guard like him.
  15. I'd rather see that bimbo Adam Rose with the belt than Rollins...and Rose is 200% useless to me.
  16. Seems pretty "meh" to me, but it's about the best we could do. Think i'd have rather had Gorzelanny though, he could swing start if need be. Still need to add another arm though because we have no elite SP to eat extra innings.
  17. That also means Shields is likely that much closer to breaking down, and doesn't deserve a monster deal.
  18. You don't honestly believe this do you? While I am not on board with signing Shields really, he is far superior to those two you mentioned, especially Fiers. What a slap in the face to a guy that all he does is put up 3.5 ERA's and over 200+ innings each year in the American League since 2007. They aren't as different as you think they are. That's what I mean by the "name" of Shields. Garza is more volatile, and Fiers is more unproven. Shields is definitely the pedigree and a better pitcher, but it's not by that much. Garza's 9 years in league - 3.81 ERA / 107 ERA+ / 3.93 FIP / 1.27 WHIP / 7.5 K/9 / 16 WAR Shields's 9 years in league - 3.72 ERA / 111 ERA+ / 3.77 FIP / 1.22 WHIP / 7.7K/9 / 27 WAR Shields played on a largely competitive TB squad, while Garza spent years on a crappy Cubs squad. Shields has also been utterly terrible in the playoffs too his past 35 innings.
  19. Wouldn't surprise me if DM is trying to wait out the market and wants to sign Shields to a slightly larger than Garza type contract 3/45-50. Not saying I agree with it, because Fiers and Garza are essentially Shields minus the "name." Maybe we can try and trade Fiers for something useful within a year or two and still keep our prospects. Again, I don't really agree with it, but Lohse/Shields/Peralta/Garza/Nelson would be a nice rotation for us, with Fiers in long relief...and Lohse comes off the books next year. We like to keep ourselves well stocked with early 30s pitchers. I just don't foresee Roenicke/Melvin/Attanasio thinking that Nelson is ready to be a #4 or better right out of the gates, keeping him #5 would be beneficial.
  20. Funny enough, I just read something about contemplating a Milwaukee NHL team tonight. Not sure if I believe we really have the market for it, but I'd certainly cheer for them. I don't see how Walker's bill isn't a good thing for the state, being that he is proposing using athlete's tax money to put right back into the payments (my understanding). The Bucks are doing their part by being a hell of an enjoyment this season, so time for us to finish the job and secure them here for the next 30 years.
  21. Love Boogey, from what I could tell it was a good one, but Bray quickly sent him packing.
  22. They didn't even attempt to give fans hope with Bryan. No different than last year when it was all signed sealed and delivered for Batista despite fans wanting otherwise. The company's stock is heading to zero and still Vince cannot figure it out. The time has passed him by, he needs to hand it over to HHH and Steffy before it's too late to salvage anything.
  23. What a pathetic waste of garbage that Royal rumble was. Sure am glad I'm not one of those poor folks who spent a ton of money to go to it. Reigns wins in the stoopidest final i've seen in some time, FYI.
  24. IMO it's either Papelbon, or Krod. I don't see a reason to bring in Soriano who regressed last year, or Janssen who isn't even a true closer. Worst case we let Henderson go back to closing, but that's really rolling the dice.
  25. Ascention (predictably) over the New Age Outlaws. Lesnar over Cena/Rollins
