  1. Assuming the previous media reports were true, I think we may be working on getting Craig. (Miami signed Morse, Mariners got their "right handed bat," etc. Guess I'd want to see the deal before I like or dislike if it is us pulling the trigger.
  2. Welp that was a fun time...apparently 25 games of hope in 10 years is all we're afforded.
  3. Any guesses on who this could be?... Gomez?... Krush?... Braun? As much as I think Seattle is ripe for a huge overpay right now, I don't think there is any chance the Brewers would do it. I have even less hope that Gomez is involved than I do for us to sign Max Scherzer...which is negligible to nonexistent.
  4. Pretty significant get for them if they can get Tampa to pull the trigger. Maybe for the first time in my adult life the Padres will be relevant.
  5. Another awesome win tonight! Seeing JKidd storm the court with the guys is cool...I'm really happy to have him as our coach. 2nd win @ Phoenix in the last 28 years for the Bucks. Fear the Deer.
  6. Well in an ideal world Craig would be healed from it and become what he used to be. His contract would be very good and then we wouldn't necessarily need Lind anymore because Craig used to hit RHP well. Basically it comes down to our medical staff thinking he is 100% before we'd pull the trigger imo
  7. I guess maybe I'm the only one that thinks grades come ahead of football. If Anderson has a problem with it, get the hell out of here. He wasn't anything special, and not sure about anyone else but I never developed any sort of "connection" with the guy that I had with Barry and Bielema. He's just a guy, go back home out west and enjoy your mediocre Oregon State.
  8. Great win last night. Giannis and Barnes have quite a rivalry going...love it.
  9. Could Viciedo be a shot in the dark buy low player? Seems he's a prime trade candidate now that the Sox signed LaRoche and Melky. He HAS played a little bit of 1st here and there, and there was speculation in the past that Viciedo would end up at 1st. He'd be a marginal defender, but his bat matches the Brewer philosophy perfectly (sigh)...elite power, no discipline, high K's. Not ideal perhaps, but he has versatility as OF, 1B, and he came up as a 3B. Marginal defender to poor at all of them though, but maybe he's a late bloomer.
  10. Personally I think it's pretty inexcusable that Houston can sign Neshek and Gregerson for what they did while we sit on this fat toad Broxton at 10 mil per year. Trade the man away for a box of popcorn if it means clearing the salary off the book to sign one of them. Neshek is a Wisconsinite and Gregerson is from Illinois, they would have been glad to come home. Both have better stats than Broxton throughout their careers as well. I don't call picking up options on 36 year old declining 3rd basemen "moves." We did well on Lind, but I feel like we left something on the table with Neshek and/or Gregerson.
  11. Isn't that almost what we gave Garza? Personally i'd rather have Matt, as much as he frustrates me.
  12. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=deshie002del That makes too much sense...why would we do that?
  13. We should unload Ramirez to the Dodgers for something, their one weak spot now (or one without a real "plan") is at 3B with Juan Uribe. Maybe Darnell Sweeney?
  14. You'll get no argument from me on that thought. The thought of watching RRR for another year, doing the same stupid things he has done since he came to Milwaukee sickens me. If ever there was going to be a reason to start fresh, and hire new management last year was it, but we did nothing... I'll leave it at that, since this board doesn't typically agree with the negative sentiments toward our manager. Complaining about the manager and saying if we just had a different one doesn't get you very far. It changes everything completely. Maybe you are better, but maybe you are worse. Way too many factors involved to say oh, well if the manager was different, we'd be off winning division titles. Now, not agreeing with his style of play is another thing. Cant speak for ricky but I would like to see a philosophy change, less stupid inning-ending baserunning mishaps, puzzling pitching changes, and more hitting for average. We probably can't get the latter due to the mix of players we have, but the other issues are attainable with a different manager.
  15. Wait, are you really comparing the Packers & the Brewers? The NFL record 13 time NFL Champion Green Bay Packers?! How many titles have the Brewers won? Oh You mean the 13 time NFL Champion Green Bay Packers, who sniffed a playoff spot a whopping TWO times between 1968 and 1993? Oh...sounds kind of familiar doesn't it? Before everyone panics the Brewers franchise has experienced their best streak of baseball in the last 30 years recently. All you have to do is MAKE the playoffs and things can happen in MLB today. Personally I think the biggest thing holding the Brewers back is Ron Roenicke, not the talent.
  16. The sky is falling, just like every offseason when the Vikings (and Miami, San Francisco, Tampa Bay etc) sign all of the free agents & Packer forum posters say its all over and we might as well off ourselves. I find it curious that everyone already credits all of these minor leaguers the Cubs have to be All-Star caliber players when most of them haven't even seen the bigs for a half season. Who's to say they all pan out? Sure the Cubs got better, but Pennant chasing year 1? Seems laughable to me...its the freaking Cubs. Something bad will happen like it always does. Today if MA opened his wallet and signed a guy like Scherzer everybody would think its A-OK after the initial whining about too much money, or traded for a marginal 3B prospect in Cecchini. People just want NEW incoming names thats all.
  17. I'm of the mindset that Gallardo has a shot to retire a Brewer. I don't foresee us trading our homegrown man especially at his age. I don't think we should trade Lohse either, he's a solid pitcher at decent value who probably would command more on the open market than he's getting. Boston has very little incentive to keep Craig IMO, with his salary and injury history...we can get him without dealing our pitching depth. If we can't, lets keep pitching a strength and find an alternative.
  18. If we could somehow keep Lohse and Gallardo, i'd be interested...I don't think it's worth it otherwise.
  19. How has Segura demonstrated he's worthy of starting outside one stretch of games the past 2 years? I understand we have control of him for awhile & hes very young, but....
  20. Trade Segura for the bullpen piece and sign Everth Cabrera to play everyday SS. We now have a leadoff hitter as well as a guy coming off a down year with some upside. If it doesn't work out Cabrera plays as poorly as Segura did last year and we have an upgraded bullpen piece. Sign Gordon Beckham to platoon with Scooter / take a few starts at SS in an emergency.
  21. I'd really like to see us take a page out of the A's book and sign Cabrera as a reclamation project. He does still have a couple years of team control, and he has experience hitting leadoff (stolen base whiz). We pretty desperately need a leadoff hitter IMO, as well as a versatile player in the infield.... make Segura earn his job next spring.
  22. Sure re:Upton. Why not, after all Seattle's market has become the LA Dodgers and they just buy whoever they want now.
  23. Feel good story, I guess it makes sense on the surface for the Twins providing a bridge to the next wave of players, but I wouldn't discount Twins brass using him as a pawn to draw in more ticket sales and cover for their own deficiencies. Unless Torii knows how to pitch, leadership is by far his biggest asset at 39 years of age, and the Twins will just lose 90 games again.
  24. I'd be more than happy to dump Jimmy Nelson on somebody and sign Beachy. Beachy has flashed legitimate frontline rotation upside when he's healthy. If the Rays were really looking at Nelson last year in a David Price deal, I think we could get a haul packaging Gomez/Nelson. That's not how the organization thinks though, and I fully believe we are all but set like brew said. We'll get a couple garbage INF for backups and add a bullpen piece. I doubt anything big is coming, but would love to see it.
