  1. Dave Schoenfield veiw Gives Texas an "A" for the trade and the Brewers a "C". Of course, we don't know the PTBN, which limits how you can really judge it. I think he gave the Will Smith deal a "B+" for both teams.
  2. DSL Cardinals 6, DSL Brewers 2 The Brewers lose despite outhitting the Cards 9-7 in this game. Box Score Maiker Pinto started and went 4 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 earned. He walked 3 and struck out 4. For the offense, Bryan Connell went 2-4, Jose Pena 3-4 with a double and Aaron Familia was 0-1 but walked 3 times. Jose Sibrian was the DH in this game so he is now back. Game Log
  3. Victor Roache has, obviously, a limited number of at bats this year but AVG, OBP and SLG all are higher than Phillips'.
  4. Trent Clark has been given time off for a family problem or words to that effect.
  5. DSL Yankees2 6, DSL Brewers 4 Box Score Both teams scored 3 runs in the 1st inning but the Brewers could only manage one more and that one a gift. The Brewers were held to 4 hits in this game. Edwin Sano was 1-3 with 2 walks. That's about all worth mentioning. Joaquin De La Cruz took the loss going 5 2/3 innings (9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K). He was followed by 3 other pitchers. Game Log (not for the squeamish).
  6. DSL Yankees2 11, DSL Brewers 5 Hopefully, the "Nice Arms" have more luck with the other affiliates than the DSL Brewers had today. 5 pitchers, Jose Alberro excepted (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K), were pretty much "off" today against the weak Yankees2 club. Offensively, Luis Manon (1-3, 3B, BB), Bryan Torres (2-4, 2B, SB), and Luis Avalo (2-4) had some success. Box Score Game Log
  7. DSL Brewers 7, DSL Nationals 3 Johan Dominguez to the rescue: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K, ERA now 1.80. Jesus Brea pitched the final 3 innings giving up 1 unearned run on 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K. The offense was led by Antonio Pinero (2-3, 2 BB, 2 SB), Moises Perez (2-4, 2B, BB), Luis Avalo (2-5), Javier Castillo (2-4) and Jesus Lujano (2-4). Perez caught today and there was one wild pitch. No sign of Jose Sibrian who has been out a few games now. Box Score Game Log
  8. MLB Brewers top 30 really changed. Clint Coulter all the way down to 29 behind Chad McClanahan and Wendell Rijo, for example. Link
  9. DSL Nationals 5, DSL Brewers 3 Box Score Jenri Montas got the start and took the loss going 3 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs. He gave up 5 hits, walked 3 and struck out none so not the best of outings. Leading the offense were Edwin Sano (2-4, 2B), Javier Castillo (2-4, 2B), Jesus Lujano (2-3, BB) and Bryan Connell (1-1, 2B, BB). The Brewers rallied in the 9th but could not come up with enough runs. Game Log
  10. DSL Brewers 6, DSL Angels 0 Box Score Harold Chirino started and went 7 innings giving up 5 hits, striking out 3 and walking none. The offense was led by Moises Perez (2-4, HR). Game Log
  11. DSL Angels 5, DSL Brewers 4 Box Score Luis Manon, playing DH today, was on base 5 times with 2 singles and 3 walks. Antonio Pinero was 2-4. Jose Pena was 3-4. Maiker Pinto started and took the loss going 6 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Jose Sibrian has not appeared since the All-Star game. Not sure what the issue is. Game Log
  12. A real meltdown there by Kodi Medeiros and Preston Gainey combined. Ouch.
  13. DSL Tigers 8, DSL Brewers 0 The losing streak reaches 7. Joaquin De La Cruz went 6 innings giving up 4 runs, all of them unearned, and got the loss. He had 4 Ks in the 6 innings with no walks. He gave up 6 hits. The 7 Brewers errors did not help. Offensively, the Brewers got 6 hits and 5 walks but couldn't get any runners across the plate. Luis Manon had 2 hits to go with his 2 throwing errors. Antonio Pinero also had 2 hits. Moises Perez and Javier Castillo had 2 walks each. Box Score Game Log
  14. DSL Tigers 7, DSL Brewers 6 The Brewers lost their 6th straight game by giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Only one of those 13 17-year-olds, mentioned previously by MH, is a pitcher (Luis Cordero). The Brewers only had 6 hits in the game, all by different players. One of the 17-year-olds, Bryan Connell, drew 2 walks in this game. Wilfred Salaman worked 3 innings for the Brewers giving up one unearned run to drop his ERA to 1.23. He struck out 3 in the 3 innings. Box Score Game Recap
  15. DSL Rockies 2, DSL Brewers 1 (10 Innings) The Brewers scored a run in the first and couldn't hold on. Johan Dominguez again was stellar for the Brewers (6 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 8 K). Antonio Pinero was 3-5. Box Score Game Log
  16. That's exactly the guy that pitched in WI last season, I put his radar readings into a LR... with the exception of being consistently in trouble. edit. I'll guess Medeiros, but I could see Diplan and/or Peralta, I'm not huge fan of the mechanics from any of those young pitchers. My concern is why is he not throwing as hard this year? It's either some mechanical issue or an injury. Doesn't appear to be mechanics but who knows? I'm not watching, just listening over the radio.
  17. I will go with Ponce also. I listened to yesterday's game and he is still throwing in the low 90s getting by with breaking stuff and moving the fastball around. Despite not giving up any runs, he was in trouble the whole game. Just isn't the same pitcher as last year.
  18. I guess it's wrong to point out that Nick Ramirez has a higher OPS than the Sheriff. If he can't make it at catcher, he won't make it at all. Charlie Greene should be down there working with him every day.
  19. DSL Rockies 5, DSL Brewers 3 (Regularly scheduled game) The Brewers managed only 2 hits and 1 walk in this 7 inning game. Moises Perez and Marcos Pinero both doubled. Jenri Montas went 4 1/3 in taking the loss. He had a great 6/0 K/BB game but gave up 10 hits and 3 runs. Box Score Game Log
  20. You have Yamamoto today. Then maybe Drossner on Thursday, Zach Brown/Burnes Friday, Williams/Supak Saturday and Jankins on Sunday.
  21. DSL Rockies 8, DSL Brewers 2 (continuation of suspended game, game 2 to follow) Box Score Jesus Lujano (2-4, 2B) and Moises Perez (1-4, HR) led the offense. Henry Medina took the loss giving up 4 runs in 4 innings. Game Log
  22. DSL Braves 4, DSL Brewers 2 Box Score 18-year-old Antonio Perez, an outfielder from Santo Domingo, hit a home run in the 9th to cut the gap to 2. However, that raised his batting average to .105 for the season. He had not played since 7/13. 18-year-old Venezuelan infielder Javier Castillo, who is having a very fine year, singled and drew a walk. He raised his batting average to .297. 17-year-old Venezuelan outfielder, Jesus Lujano, drew a pair of walks. 18-year-old Venezuelan pitcher, Harold Chirino, got the start and went 5 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 runs. He did not walk a batter and struck out 2. 3 pitchers followed. Check the box score for them. Noting momentous happened. Game Recap
  23. Sthervin Matos was released. He had been playing outfield. Maybe they would put Gatewood out there? Seems strange though. Just when he seemed to be making progress at 3rd.
  24. DSL Braves 4, DSL Brewers 3 (ten innings) Box Score The Brewers only managed 3 hits in this one although one of them was the 3rd homerun of the season for 17-year-old C/1B Moises Perez. Bryan Torres had a 2B. Jesus Lujano drew 2 walks. Maiker Pinto got the start and went 6 innings for a no decision. He gave up 6 hits and struck out 3. Two of the hits were HRs. The Brewers had the lead until this mess: DSL Braves Bottom of the 8th Defensive Substitution: Luis Avalo replaces catcher Jose Sibrian, batting 4th, playing catcher. Defensive Substitution: Javier Castillo replaces third baseman Aaron Familia, batting 7th, playing third base. Juan Morales walks. With Luis Ovando batting, wild pitch by Wilfred Salaman, Juan Morales to 2nd. Luis Ovando flies out to right fielder Bryan Connell. Yoeli Lopez walks. Pitching Change: Alberto Paulino replaces Wilfred Salaman. With Jeffrey Ramos batting, wild pitch by Alberto Paulino, Juan Morales to 3rd. Yoeli Lopez to 2nd. With Jeffrey Ramos batting, passed ball by Luis Avalo, Juan Morales scores. Yoeli Lopez to 3rd. Jeffrey Ramos flies out to center fielder Jesus Lujano. Jean Carlos Encarnacion flies out to right fielder Bryan Connell. --and then this in the 10th: DSL Braves Bottom of the 10th Juan Morales grounds out, shortstop Antonio Pinero to first baseman Moises Perez. Luis Ovando triples (5) on a line drive to right fielder Bryan Connell. Luis Ovando scores. Missed catch error by catcher Luis Avalo. Well Luis Avalo will work on that catching defense. (or maybe just stick to first base). complete game recap
  25. link Wow, they really threw the book at Christopher Correa in that Astros hacking case. Over $200K due in restitution plus 46 months. Now the Cardinals punishment?
