  1. It’s clearly not a serious post. A lot of work to be that snarky though.
  2. Insurance will likely pay off his contract if he is truly done beyond 2018.
  3. Someone who gets it. The loss column is all that matters. If the Cubs lose up to 4 more games than the Brewers lose the rest of the season they win. So scoreboard watching is pretty important. Not that we can do anything about it.
  4. I just saw his stats at Wrigley. 1100 OPS.
  5. Darvish out for the year.
  6. This is procedural. Most every player is put on waivers for many reasons.
  7. Just what the Dr ordered. I love that we are playing the Reds now. We have the second easiest schedule of the contenders. A WC is definitely reasonable.
  8. I’d much rather the Brewers followed the Astros model instead of the 2 WAR scrap heap and pray brigade but whatever. The fact that Stearns and his two 80ish win seasons can possibly be discussed here in the same breath with a guy who won two titles with two franchises who went like 100 years of not winning is pretty much the definition of a homer. I couldn’t imagine how a post of Theo > Stearns could possibly be argued but I guess surprises happen every day.
  9. 14-16 in their last 30. The good news is the schedule is much easier and they have beat up bad teams.
  10. This should be a great series for us. Thames vs Cinn to the rescue!
  11. Oh really? Guess I assumed that since this is the Cole Hamels thread and all, that we were using the Cole Hamels trade to justify how much better Theo is than David and how David missed out on his big opportunity. Didn't realize we were going back and evaluating Theo's every historical move here. I was really just stating the obvious; That when a move needs to be made that Theo would make the better one. You can’t possibly argue that Stearns is anywhere near Theo’s skill level, right?
  12. The problem with non elite players have breakout years is they don’t typically sustain it year over year so they can only be treated as nice surprises, not building block players. The Nationals are an example you used. The example I use are the Cubs and Astros who used their high draft status and more importantly their pool dollars to build their farms.
  13. The run differential suggests a 83 win pace while they are actually on a 88 win pace. CC has done a fantastic job with this roster.
  14. That’s $35M for those three guys even IF Moose accepts. I can’t see us keeping Schoop at that price. Ditto Soria. Moose would want a multi year deal I’d think and without draft pick penalty he will get more than $15M AAV.
  15. We absolutely do not have elite bats, not even close. It’s not our only problem but it is a problem. We scored 6 runs this series and were very fortunate to go 1-2.
  16. Yeah, okay. Losing more means the team sucks more...and it would take way more than just not having Cain/Yelich to get to the draft pick you want. Not sure that is worth a higher draft pick that we will likely fail utilizing. You are talking maybe Ray and two other high draft picks. Is that really worth it? Pretty sure having Travis Shaw > Top 10 pick. You know? You don’t win big by collecting 2 WAR types. We need superstars like Braun and Fielder. It’s really tough to get them picking in the high teens and low 20’s.
  17. We should have followed the Astros model and tanked for a few years. 85 win purgatory isn’t fun.
  18. I’d sure hope the future isn’t based on Nelson coming back to 2017 form after his major shoulder injury.
  19. I like him better as a pitching prospect. Not in blue. Seriously who can’t use a knuckleball pitcher? Stearns has been mystified by the catcher position since day one so it’s no shock that he brings in a 38 year old career nobody to a team looking to acquire “young controllable talent”.
  20. VVM is everyone’s target so I get that but it would think we could have worked some comps. Let’s face it after seeing Burnes and Peralta are we still classifying them as truly untouchable? Young with potential yes. But untouchable? I am not seeing us picking up Schoop unless they think Hiura hitting 277 down in AA means he isn’t the can’t miss prospect we all hope he is. He simply isn’t worth $10M when you have a $110M payroll and Braun.
  21. Yah I was never particularly thrilled with that trade, even from the start. 3.5 or 4.5 years of Will Smith (whatever it was) and we got a once good catching prospect and a nice pitching prospect...but one seemed destined for a high leverage bullpen role. Seemed like a light return and now looks terrible because we started competing so fast and our return is absolute junk now. The return looked pretty decent at the time for us since all we had to go on were prospect rankings. Obviously the Giants saw Stearns coming from a mile away and dumped the hot mess that is Bickford on him.
  22. The sechedule gets easier.
  23. Stearns inexperience really showed this year. The good news is while we have been really exposed vs the good teams, we do play a much easier schedule upcoming so it’s not unreasonable that we start winning again. What that would mean in October is another story but the W/L record is likely to get better in the near term.
  24. Glausman was such an obvious trade trarget and he went pretty cheap, basically picking up ODays contract plus some meh prospects which is pretty much our entire farm. I’d like to know why Stearns didn’t get that deal done.
