  1. He actually is under team control through the 2018 season.
  2. Not sure if Chisenhall is worth trading for if the cost is Santana. He is arbitration eligible and will become a free agent in 2019 just around the time we should start being competitive again. I just doesn't make sense to trade away Santana for a stop gap 3B and lefty reliever. I would be looking for high ceiling prospects in Low or High A who could be ready to contribute come 2018 and beyond. I would want one of the following back for Santana: Aiken, Kaminsky, Sheffield or Bradley.
  3. He would be a solid upgrade over Herrera and Perez and would complete for regular playing time at 3B while still being able to play anywhere in the infield as well as spot start in LF. He definitely projects more as a utility player who can provide some pop off the bench.
  4. Problem with Candelario is the Cubs currently only have 30 players on their current roster with only four prospects ahead of him who need to be added (i.e. Johnson, Contreras, Vogelbach and Black). I don't think he will be left available but I could be wrong.
  5. This is the list of corner infielders listed as a top 30 team prospect who are eligible for the Rule 5 draft a could be available. Cubs: #20 Jeimer Candelario (3B) White Sox: #28 Keon Barnum (1B) Royals : #28 Balbino Ruenmayer (1B) Rays: #27 Patrick Leonard (1B) Rangers: #23 Ronald Guzman (1B) Nats: #22 Matt Skole (3B/1B) Mets: #28 Jayce Boyd (1B) Yankees: #20 Miguel Andjuar (3B) Blue Jays: #17 Matt Dean (1B) and #21 Andy Burns (3B) Not sure if any of these players warrant being picked but thought it was an interesting list.
  6. Looks like a solid prospect who offers above average defense and could handle spot starting at SS if needed.
  7. Could be based on K-Rod's performance or the player could be subject to the Rule 5 draft and require an immediate roster spot.
  8. Not sure who it is but I am hoping for Zach Shepherd. Over time he has the tools to develop into a solid 3B.
  9. Not if you consider Detroit is picking up his entire salary.
  10. This is exactly who i was hoping Stearns would flip K-Rod for. He is not a top prospect but could develop into a serviceable 2B in 2-3 years. This move also allows Jeffress to slide into the closer role next season. viewtopic.php?p=964650#p964650
  11. From what I hear, they are looking to flip Revere for a starting pitcher and find an everyday LF. If Revere is indeed traded for a pitcher then Davis and Smith become very attractive pieces to their roster. Also, Toronto's bullpen could use another lefty to solidify the bullpen. Would you prefer a package of Harris, Pentecost and Burns instead?
  12. Who would you suggest instead?
  13. I'm hoping one of Puk, Pint, Hansen or Bergner will be available at #5.
  14. How about Davis and Smith for Pentecost, Hollon and Nay? We add two prospects who play positions of need in our system and a high ceiling arm who is coming back from a suspension for PED use while Toronto gets a starting LF and late innings lefty who both are making the minimum and have 4 years of team control. Seems like a solid deal for both sides.
  15. I think Davis has more value because he is more of a proven commodity than Santana and still has 4 years of control. As much as I like Lucroy, I do not think it is a good idea to extend him into his mid-30s. He can easily fetch a top of the rotation starter and a solid corner infielder, if traded now, while Davis could net you a high ceiling catcher like Pentecost who is coming off of shoulder surgery. The Blue Jays window will be closing after this season and they will be looking for cheap players who can fill some glaring holes (i.e. LF and their bullpen).
  16. Man, Parker just cannot catch a break. Hopefully he can be back to full strength by the time they return from their three game road trip. I am also looking forward to seeing Mayo back on the court.
  17. I really like Pentecost coming out of college, but he's missed more than a year with injury. Has anyone heard his current status? Just wondering. I haven't seen any updates but my thought is his value might be a bit lower due to the questions surrounding his recovery from shoulder surgery. He has all of the tools to project as a solid all around catcher if the Brewers allow him adequate time to develop. Adding him and Fulmer would be extremely beneficial to our rebuild.
  18. In addition to the two moves above I would look to trade K-Rod and Lind. My guess is we could get Ke'Bryan Hayes from the Pirates for Lind and Javier Betancourt from Detroit for K-Rod. Come 2018 we could be looking at the following roster: C - Pentecost 1B - Braun 2B - Betancourt SS - Arcia 3B - Michalczewski LF - Coulter/Taylor CF - Phillips RF - Santana Rotation: Fulmer Nelson Lopez Any two of the following: Hader, Peralta, Jungmann, Davies
  19. If we are getting either Gallo or Profar you should not have both included on the 2017 roster. I would prefer trading Lucroy to the White Sox for Fulmer, Michalczewski and Alfaro then also look to flip Davis and Smith to Toronto for Pentecost, Hollon and Burns. This fills some areas of need within our farm system while creating a spot for Santana in the OF.
  20. I could see Tate (PTBNL), Cordell and Faulkner for Lucroy or Fulmer, Michalczewski and Alfaro if traded to the White Sox. Both packages add a high ceiling starter, solid 3B prospect and another young power arm. Either would be a good haul for two years of Lucroy.
  21. I agree. Trading Lucroy, Lind and K-Rod just to send out prospects for Freeman seems counterproductive. By 2019, we could be working with a lineup of: C- ??? 1B - Braun 2B - Sardinas SS - Arcia 3B - Gatewood LF - Coulter CF - Phillips RF - Santana With players like Clark, Harrison, Lara, Orimoloye and Denson close behind. Then if you estimate a few of the following pitchers can crack the rotation (Lopez, Hader, D. Williams, Medeiros, Davies, Kirby, T. Willliams, Wagner and Ponce) this team could compete going forward with the addition of a top of the rotation arm. Our future looks pretty bright if you can look past the next couple of seasons.
  22. I would be willing to trade anybody besides Arcia, Phillips, Clark or Lara. Those are the three I feel should be part of our core as we continue to rebuild. Would D. Lopez, Taylor, Harrison and Diplan be enough?
  23. I completely agree with this statement. Adding another bounce back candidate will not prevent our younger pitchers from having opportunities to pitch. If anything, it might prolong their free agency by another year which could extend their competitive window by another year.
  24. What if you replace Revere with either Ryan Porucki or Connor Green. I would prefer Clinton Hollon but he is currently on the restricted list so I do not believe he can be traded.
