  1. I know Garza holds very little or no trade value so what if we offered Peralta and Davis for Revere, Pentecost and Nay? Seems like a fair trade for both parties.
  2. Love this idea. Would Garza, Davis and $4M for Revere and Mitch Nay be considered a fair trade?
  3. Any possibility we could trade Garza and Smith to Toronto for Ben Revere. My guess is we would also need to throw in some money to make it work, say $5M but I think it makes sense for both teams. Toronto is looking for a veteran starter to plug in the back end of their rotation while the Brewers needs a CF who can fill in until Phillips is ready to takeover. Revere is best suited for CF, has two more years of team control and is projected to make $6.7M through arbitration. We can still look to trade Braun to create a spot for Santana in RF and Revere would hold trade value if Stearns wanted to flip him for more prospects after next season on the following trade deadline. Revere also adds another left handed bat to the lineup who can lead off.
  4. I still think we will have to eat a good portion of his remaining salary ($20-25M) to get any real value back.
  5. Great point Reilly. I truly feel this offseason is the best time to trade Lucroy if you are looking to receive multiple impact players in return. He should warrant a high ceiling pitching prospect, a high minors corner infielder or catcher who projects to be at minimum a serviceable starter in the majors and another high risk/high reward player who is a ways away from contributing.
  6. I always considered Ennis the wild card of the Knight trade similar to Middleton in the Jennings trade. He has the potential to be a solid contributor and is still only 20 yrs old. He seemed like a bust simply because he was so young and never really given an opportunity to develop in phoenix with three solid options ahead of him. He could turn out to be the steal of this trade if he can continue to play within his abilities like he has the last few games. I am starting to wonder if it would be more beneficial to pair Vasquez and MCW together on the second unit along with Bayless, Copeland and Henson until Mayo returns. Not sure if I am ready to actually pull the trigger on this move but it is starting to look like a realistic option.
  7. Alexi Ogando would be an intriguing option if we decide to trade K-Rod and/or Smith.
  8. I still stand by me original idea of trading Garza for Chris Johnson. I know Johnson is nothing special at 3B but it saves the Brewers $7.5M, fills a need at 3B for the next couple seasons and frees up a rotation spot for another young pitcher like Lopez. He can also play 1B which give Counsell some additional roster flexibility. Then look to sign Austin Jackson to a one year deal with the hope of trading him in July and trade either Davis or Braun, Lind and K-Rod for the best packages available and we should be set. Lineup: Lucroy - C, Rogers -1B, Gennett - 2B, Segura - SS, Johnson - 3B, Davis/Braun - LF, Jackson - CF, Santana - RF Rotation: Nelson, Peralta, Jungmann, Davies and Lopez Bullpen: Jeffress, Smith, Knebel, Blazek, Pena, Thornburg and Wagner/Goforth Bench: Maldonado, Clark, Sardinas, Herrera and Wren/Reed This is not a great team by any stretch but it does get our younger players on the field so Stearns can evaluate their capabilities.
  9. I don't know, why do teams want more than one shooter? Having more of something positive is not a bad way to go. What have the Bucks been able to hang their hat on the last couple years? Length. Defense. Shot blocking. Whiteside would bring that to the table. Everyone is trying to be like the Warriors now. Play small, shoot a ton of 3s, etc. The Bucks aren't going to win games or playoff series that way. But they CAN win playoff series by being an outstanding defensive team. They've gotten away from that. By the way, I brought up Whiteside as someone I would like to have, I don't in any way expect that to happen. If they sign Whiteside, how would you split up the minutes between Monroe, Henson and him? Because someone will definitely be riding the pine quite a bit with all three on the roster.
  10. Why would we look to sign Whiteside when we just extended a similar player in Henson? Here are both players PER 36 stats from last season. Whiteside: 18.7 pts/13.1 reb/0.2 ast/0.9 stl/ 4.2 blk Henson: 13.8 pts/9.1 reb/1.7 ast/0.8 stl/ 4.0 blk I know Whiteside is a better offensive player and rebounder but considering we already have Monroe, rim protection is the main reason to sign a player like Whiteside. This would be a redundant move with Henson already under contract for the next 4 years.
  11. San Diego is declining his option and likely will not offer him arbitration making him a free agent. I know the Padres will look into signing him to a minor league deal to continue his rehab but is the a chance he would be willing to sign with the Brewers instead. When healthy he was starting to resemble a top of the rotation arm before having to deal with multiple elbow injuries. He just turned 30 and should have plenty of miles left on his arm if he can get himself healthy and back on track. He is the perfect buy low candidate the Brewers should be targeting this off season.
  12. I don't think we have any assets valuable enough to get Gallo or any top 10 prospect. Although the Rangers still have plenty of top level prospects who would be appealing to the Brewers. I would look into a Lucroy and Smith for Tate/Ortiz, Cordell and Mendez/Faulkner trade (depending on which prospects Stearns values more). This gives the Brewers a young pitcher who has top of the rotation stuff, a solid hitter who could stick at 3B, and a high risk/high ceiling lefty who at worst should provide a power arm out of the bullpen.
  13. We could always ride MCW's rookie contract out and look at signing Teague then since he will also be a free agent. My guess is he could be had for 4yrs/$80-90M which would be doable even with Giannis getting the max.
  14. I was discussing the Bucks with a friend who brought up Jeff Teague as a possible trade candidate who would fit in extremely well with our current roster. Schroder is puching for the starting spot and Teague could become available for the right return. My friend suggested Middleton straight up for Teague since we have Mayo who could start at SG but I initially balked at the notion. Would a package of Mayo, Bayless and our 2016 first rd pick be enough to get it done? I hate giving up a draft pick but feel Teague would flourish with our other young starters. Teague, Middleton, Giannis, Parker and Monroe would be a dominant starting line up and we would still have MCW, Vasquez, Vaughn, Inglis and Henson coming off the bench.
  15. This is a fair comparison in regards to the Knight trade since the front office had to have extending Middleton on their mind when they made the trade. Ennis could be a sleeper addition similar to Middleton in the Jennings deal. i'm not saying he will develop into an all-star but he could become a serviceable NBA caliber PG in time. Looking down the road to when MCW is a RFA if he has not panned out by then Jeff Teague will be an UFA and could be a good fit in a starting line up consisting of Giannis, Parker, Middleton and Monroe (if he opts in or resigns).
  16. I would focus this season on trading our assets for more prospects and signing bounce back candidates who we can likely flip at the trade deadline. Here is the list of players I would look into signing: AJ Pierzynski (if Lucroy is traded), Juan Uribe, Austin Jackson, Doug Fister/Mat Latos, Tommy Hunter, Bobby Parnell and Eric O'Flaherty. All of these players could have the potential to become assets by the trade deadline and should be available on one year deals. This is similar to what the Cubs did in 2014. If the Brewers can add a few additional prospects on the level of Yonathan Barrios and Zach Davies it will be worth it.
  17. The main issue like others have pointed out is we are having to give to many meaningful minutes to the likes of JOB, Plumlee, Copeland, Inglis and to a lesser extent Bayless. Having Bayless, JOB and/ Copeland start creates a favorable mismatch for the opposition. Bayless is a decent player when he is used properly (i.e. coming off the bench), and so are JOB (energy guy), Copeland (floor spacer), Inglis (defensive specialist) and Plumlee (another big body). Being with out three key players (Parker, Mayo and Henson) definitely limits our rotation. To me Mayo and Henson are the two key players needed to get this team back on track. Last season we got off to a fast start primarily due to our bench. Mayo can play 30+ minutes a night until Parker is full strength. MCW, OJ, Midds, Giannis and Moose is a solid starting lineup and Bayless, Vasquez, Parker (limited minutes), Copeland and Henson provides a well rounded second unit. We are only four games into the season and have yet to play a game at full strength. I will begin to panic if they continue to struggle 5-10 games after getting Henson, Mayo and Parker back in the rotation.
  18. I would even include Maldonado as a capable veteran catcher who could help to guide and develop our young pitching staff. He is a solid defensive catcher who simply cannot hit. I say trade Lucroy for the best package of prospects offered and go with a platoon of Maldy and a veteran like Dioner Navarro or Brayan Pena. No need to hold onto Lucroy while we are trying to rebuild. Trading him will actually speed up the rebuilding process similar to the Gomez trade.
  19. Even if we don't swap bad contracts with the Indians, I am still hoping we can trade Khris Davis and maybe someone like Ariel Pena for Patrick Kivlehan. It gives us a young prospect who spend all of 2015 in AAA and hit 22HR. I'm not sure if he can stick at 3B but if not he still gives us a young player with 6 yrs of team control who can play any of the corner four corner positions and still has some upside.
  20. My thought would be to trade Garza and $6M for Chris Johnson. Then trade Khris Davis to Seattle for Patrick Kivlehan. Johnson can fill in until Kivlehan is ready to take over full time. Davis and Garza are both expendable with the emergence of Santana and Davies. All teams get better from this trade.
  21. What about Garza plus $6M ($3M per year) to the Indians for Chris Johnson. Johnson can play either 1B or 3B and is expendable with the emergence of Urshela. Seems like a win-win for both teams.
  22. I would still look to trade Gomez for Appel, Moran, Reed and Guduan. I do not want Singleton since I believe he will be a bust.
  23. Would the Mets be willing to trade Noah Syndergaard, Dominic Smith and Jhoan Urena for Gomez, Segura and Parra? We could throw in enough cash to cover Parra's remaining salary if needed to sweeten the pot. This give us an ace caliber pitcher to pair with Peralta and Nelson and two corner infiled prospects who should be able to contribute by 2017.
  24. Markieff Morris is an interesting option. He could play alongside either Jabari or Giannis and would give us another proven scorer coming off the bench. He can stretch the floor (40% 3FG% at Kanses), is a solid rebounder and can play next to either Parker or Giannis which gives Kidd more rotation options. The major red flag is his current legal troubles stemming from he and his brother beating up some guy. He will make $8MM/per the next four years (which is a steal based on his production) and could be another young piece to add to our core. We could offer up Mayo and one of our newly acquired protected 2nd Rd picks from Dallas or Washington. I would still look to add another wing like McDaniels for the Room Exception. MCW/Vasquez/Ennis Middleton/Bayless/Vaughn Giannis/Inglis/McDaniels Parker/Morris/JOB Monroe/Henson/Plumlee This roster would make the Bucks a top 4 team in the East.
  25. The numbers for middleton are slightly off. He will make $14.7MM this season which just puts them over the cap. We have the Room Exception ($2.814MM) to sign free agent(s) with and both TPEs created by the Dudley ($4.25MM) and Zaza ($5.2MM) trades. We should be targeting players teams are trying to dump like Trevor Booker, Kostas Papanikolaou, Perry Jones III, Danny Granger and Nick Collison and/or free agents like Darrell Arthur and KJ McDaniels who can play either SF or PF. Booker and Jones would be my ideal choices. MCW, GV, Ennis, Bayless Midds, OJ, Vaughn Giannis, Inglis, Jones Parker, Booker Monroe, Henson, Plumlee Giannis, Inglis, Monroe and Henson can all play PF for additional depth.
