  1. very surprising lineup. I would've guess that Grisham would be the easier guy to transfer to RF but I guess not. Kinda surprised we'd sit Yeli after last night and with 3 off days coming in the next week. I know we want Grisham in and Cain hit his knee pretty hard last night, seemed like a good rest day for him instead but we'll see. We need a hot streak badly
  2. Generally agree. Bellinger would need to seriously fall off to finish the year for this to happen. Which could happen with 2 months to go. But as long as he's close he'll win. There's a long precedent for it. Just look at Trout's whole career
  3. Was just talking about this earlier today as well. This MVP race is going to be one of the all time race' no matter who wins (barring injury of course which would virtually eliminate one) and with the loser having one of the strongest non winning seasons possible. As crazy as Yelich's stats are Bellinger's are just a tick less. Being that he's on the Dodgers and MKE is currently trending towards not making the playoffs I'd have my money on Bellinger.
  4. Yup Grisham sure looks legit so far. Hope he sticks and is actually really good not just ok, could be huge for future outlook of the team. For next year Braun can get worked back into 1B rotation and roster should be set a bit better than two basically 1B only types like they had this year. Of course who knows how the Thames/Moose/Shaw decisions play out though
  5. Hi, I'm a local and season ticket holder. I wouldn't say I'm an expert but being around enough I can make a somewhat informed opinion. I'd say your best bet would be to simply buy on the street before the game. It eliminates the fees and the home opener is not a good opponent so you'll get them very cheap. I'd guess you could get fairly decent seats in the $30-40 range and in the door for like $15. Note: Just saw your Tom Petty signature thing too. Huge fan here as well, probably #1 for me and not too often a day goes without listening to some.
  6. I would take Gamel easily over Broxton. Really wouldn't think twice about. I mean, a year ago at this time we're basically in unison Brox has no business on a roster and now all of a sudden we miss him. the ridiculous strikeouts, lack of contact, low obp, and just no trust in a good AB by Broxton would have me going with Gamel all day. Sure Broxton is better on D but who here would even think twice about who you'd prefer AB with an RISP late in the game. He's now on his 3rd team in a year since we let him go and has put up 547 ops and 239 obp this year after sub .300 obp in his last two years with us. Gamel seems exactly what you'd want in a 4th OF and will likely hang around for while here or somewhere else whereas Broxton will likely never stick on an MLB roster again, especially on one that is trying to win rather than just taking a flyer hoping to get lucky on him
  7. I've seen a lot of uproar since this went down regarding how UW handled this so badly, how he should sue for millions etc. While I agree the whole situation was unfortunate I think to blame UW/Atheletic Dep is a bit much. Think of the situation they're in after seeing what happened at Baylor, MSU, OSU and others. So, no matter what way they go they face getting sued for something they basically have nothing to due with. Leave on campus and on the team and he loses the case, sued and people fired all over. Or imagine if another incident by him or another player happens and they're facing a 'culture' of coddling or covering up type accusations. UW had no choice but to do what they did. Sucks for everyone involved as I'm sure he feels like he did nothing wrong, I'm sure the girls do feel taken advantage of too (it's not like they just made this up to be spiteful, though maybe their rich parents did push it further than it should've out of such reasons), District Attorney can't just dismiss without going to trial or they face allegations of bias and all that and get drilled in the next election, and UW was stuck in the middle the whole time. Hopefully all parties can go on from here and have good productive lives. I'd assume Cephus doesn't play here again though considering he's currently suing UW, who knows though maybe he really does like his coaches and teammates here though and would do it.
  8. Thank you. Yes and even of that list in WTP's post there is a lot of improvement or proving it that needs to happen. Like, we just can't all of a sudden assume those guys will suddenly be good when they've kinda haven't been so far this year. I know our coaches must see something and we have to trust and think positive but it kinda takes a lot of squinting
  9. Add in FF and Knebel and Wahl. Looking ahead to next season, the pen could rival the 2018 group. Faria may be in the plans to be a rotation guy. Drawing a blank on FF? What about Rasmussen (I think that's who it was) who was getting so much attention a few months ago as possibly coming up this year?
  10. Moving back to Aug 15 is so late there isn't many games left. I think this is a good date to have it set. A tweak that pops in my head is to adjust the expanded roster to August though. I know they're changing all that stuff more next year. So maybe like you get one more roster spot now and then however many extra they're going to allow come Sept. An unintended effect of this change is that you can't grab depth and bench bats due to roster spots issues. Take your Granderson type trade last year, you can't do that now since you won't have a roster spot for him. Or other smaller bullpen moves, you can't grab guys because you don't have roster spots for them. Heck, or maybe that was an intended consequence, who knows.
  11. Am I out of line to think that since Houston is taking on that much of the money, over 50 mil, that they shouldn't have had to give up thaaaat much. When I saw the return I thought AZ would be chipping in much more. And when I first saw they got him without knowing the prospects I thought Houston has the money to eat the contract so likely won't have to pay the farm. Seems like they did both here, as someone else said it's an all in for the WS this year and next. Good for them and good luck, better them than Bos/NY/Cubs/LAD but also seems like a great deal for AZ.
  12. Crazy how loaded Astros and Dodgers are in their minors while also being top top MLB teams. Must be fun
  13. Thanks. I hate this phrase as well as it says nothing and just something to say when you can't come up with anything of substance. Take last year, Granderson wasn't a needle mover was he but he helped. Soria, helped. Lyles last year, helped. But since some unknown Needle is involved...
  14. 26th roster spot helps? I know what you mean though, kind of locks in bullpen spots a bit. Though Albers will be gone to free up a spot
  15. Essentially Black is just like Wahl, who generally speaking I think we were all excited about getting. But, we got him for Broxton who we were cutting anyway so basically for nothing. That's the difference. But just pointing out to not hold how we got him against the player himself. He's got ridiculous stuff if they can hone it in.
  16. Maybe MKE and the league don't value Dubon nearly what he is on this site, but man these guys seem like the type you can get for nothing, not using your closest/best prospect. That said, it's not like I think Dubon is ever star or big time player but he was going to play in the bigs in some fashion
  17. If that's all it is I'm not a fan as well. He's the type you should be able to get for next to nothing, not our best prospect who we might need soon if Arcia continues to falter
  18. I thought maybe in return for taking on some of Brandon Crawford's contract they could get some relievers too. Maybe something like that, trying to think outside the box. I'm sure we'll know soon
  19. Gotta be a reliever.
  20. I've devised a way we can Strasburg and Alonzo and we wouldn't have to give that much up. - George Costanza
  21. For the Braun to 1st vs lefties talk. I get it, but it still doesn't solve much. You'd just be playing Gamel or Grisham vs lefties. Granted, my eye test seems to think Gamel holds his own vs lefties better than Shaw/Thames but still you're playing a lefty no matter how you slice it. More I think about the happier I am with this, I'd guess they were very close to DFA Jesus not long ago so to get this back is quite a pull. When I saw the trade happened I assumed some minor league flyer types, so was happy to see someone who can help now. Add one more pitcher, starter or relief, at minimal cost and see what happens.
  22. Some of that, but they'll also put Grandal at 1B and Pina behind the dish vs LHP. Oh right that makes sense too with Pina playing well. I'm really surprised they got someone this good/promising for Jesus with how poor he's been this year. Seems like a good deal to me
  23. Seems fine to me. MLB ready pitcher who can help right now. I'd guess they keep Shaw up now and will deal with Thames playing vs lefties since he's been OK at it this year.
  24. He's actually the one SP I want and would immediately try to extend him. If Burnes ever figures it out, a front of the rotation with Woodruff-Wheeler-Burnes could be real nice. I think in the Brewers current situation Wheeler is a needle mover. No, not an ace but he does have the ability\stuff to shut down the best lineups on a good day. He's instantly the Brewers best pitcher. I know that's not saying much . I still like this teams chances if they can get hot down the stretch. I think we need a clear definition of needle mover. I never see it bbref or MLB network.
  25. We all know Pina is better on D than Grandal. But no way Pina is ever hitting 30 HRs like Grandal is going to do, he's just not in the same ballpark on offense. Moreover, Pina really seems to struggle with a full time workload, maybe just simply due to being a bit older. I'm generally fine with Pina as a starting C but you then need another good C to go with him (not Kratz) because he can't play 6/7 games like Grandal is doing.
