  1. Buf if your lefty doesn't get the lefty (like we saw so many times last year) to end the inning, he's now out there for two more hitters.
  2. Right, the goal should be to reduce down time between pitches and innings as much as possible. But really the main thing that makes the sport slow/boring to young people or non diehards is lack of balls in play/action. Really I don't see a solution, make the zone smaller and it's more walks. Make the zone bigger it's more strikeouts. The evolution of baseball that made everyone learn how valuable walks/obp (so they're taking a ton of pitches) are is really a key part to this and you can't change that without changing the fundamental rules of the game.
  3. These feel directed right at MKE and what they did last year: "Injured List and Option Period for Pitchers: Subject to input from the joint committee, the minimum placement period for pitchers on the Injured List shall increase from 10 days to 15 days, and the minimum assignment period of pitchers who are optionally assigned to the minors will increase from 10 days to 15 days. " "Elimination of 40-man active roster limit in September. From September 1st through the end of the championship season, all Clubs must carry 28 players on the active roster."
  4. I'm not sure I'm understanding this. 3 players will take part in a one day "election"? How do you have an election with 3 people? Will it really an election or will those guys just decide who is on the remainder of the two rosters? Is it an election or is it a selection? Pretty sure I read their will be a vote to get the top 3 for each position, then there is an election day between those 3, for all positions. Oohhhh! I was reading that as the top 3 vote getters over all have a one day "election" where they are the "voters" (basically they select the rest of the team). In regards to not being able to remove "pitchers that don't have it", I understand that walking a guy on 4 pitches does not automatically meant that a pitcher does not have it. My point is I don't like hampering the flexibility of a manager in a crucial situation. Lets say there is one guy on base late in a close game and the manager brings in a new pitcher. The new pitcher walks the next two batters and appears to be having some control issues. Now you have bases loaded. Most fans watching will probably be yelling at the TV or from their seats...get him out of there!! The manager does not always do this, but he should have the flexibility to do it. I don't care if these types of situations are rare, I don't like rule changes that take away that much flexibility from a manager, especially when the game may be on the line. Spit-balling solutions to that issue. Maybe the team gets one exemption per game. Still, I think this is all just over complicating things.
  5. Yup just stay away from back to backs on the Bucks. A few odd lines in the B1G tourney today. don't know what to think of them so probably just don't touch. Two of the lowers seeds are favored and the others are low numbers. If I had to go i'd go with the 4 higher seeds and live with the results, should get 3/4. By higher I mean the 8 seed is higher than 9, realized that could be confusing. I also probably go with Marquette today. Line at 3 due to them playing poorly of late. Banking on a good bounce back game ETA: so far OSU crushing as a higher seeded dog. 1/2 after Maryland loss. I actually didn't bet this, just following. Final ETA: 3/4 hit and Marquette covered easily.
  6. I agree with Patrick. 3 out thing is the only one I'd be adamantly against.
  7. Yea at this point Max has been so consistent he's on his own tier for me then a gap to Sale/Kluber types. Just keep riding Max until he bucks like I did for years with Kershaw and Bumgarner.
  8. When is it gonna happen for Max as well? With how violent he throws something has to happen at some point like it did with Kershaw the last couple years.
  9. I have the same fear. If I was him I'd have locked in a big contract this offseason rather than risk it. But I guess I'm not enough of a gambler.
  10. Just keep riding the Bucks when they're less than 10 vs blah teams. not gonna get them all but should come out ahead. Unless of course they start resting Giannis or other key guys
  11. Bucks -9.5 should be ok tonight assuming everyone plays. AD plays limited mins, Jrue is out.
  12. I agree on taking Iowa if i were to bet it. I expected a 4ish line for this game. I get why it's that high being senior night, Fran suspended, iowa got trucked last game, Iowa being awful on D so could help our blah O. Still, we haven't been great lately and slow starting a lot, plus of course the awful FT shooting at the end that costs teams spreads. My best bet would probably be the under. I know Iowa is wide open, still UW gonna play a game in the 70s?
  13. Then clearly someone told wrong. I'm guessing here of course, but I vaguely remember the Sheeran show talk on here and I feel like someone defended the Brewers by saying it's not really their fault because X company handles it all. For example, UW events it's a company called Per Mar, or it was years ago at least. They would still own it and get the money, they just contract it out to a specific company rather than deal with the staffing, payroll, management etc of doing it themselves. Spitballing here that's what you're remembering. That said, I guess you can still blame the team for hiring a bad company. But really crap happens, just have to fix the issues they learned on a day like that
  14. All the scenarios mentioned could happen for all teams, it's literally what makes baseball so crazy. Especially this season with every team in our division good and really every team in the NL descent except one. It could really be a crazy, unpredictable year where anything could happen. Really, luck/injuries are probably going to be the deciding factors.
  15. Ah that's it. it would just be super cheap so it makes sense. And somehow him being on a player option complicates thing with it too.
  16. Probably for Ed Sheeran which was a complete mess. But just because they've contracted the work out to someone doesn't mean they don't get a huge chunk of the money, it's just they don't actually handle the operations. And of course they have to pay the company who does it. Basically, it's not like say the city owns it and they take the profit. Well, I'd be very surprised if that was the case but I can't say I 'know' it.
  17. Yea of course Tomlin could still right the ship but so far it's been bad. He was essentially their one vet flyer this year, last year had a few. All I meant was well 'so far' that looks like it didn't work so maybe bringing in another could make sense. If that's ridiculous so be it.
  18. Yea hope last night wasn't a sign of them righting the ship. They've been so chaotic and with Kyrie's drama one would think the drama continues, still they're such a deep team and match up well vs MKE and have a great home court it'll be tough. Just hope they keep struggling and maybe Indiana can knock them off round 1. Pretty sure Philly will catch Indy before end of year. No matter what, with these 4 teams in the East the second round was gonna be a tough series.
  19. I think all points have been made on KM body and training. For the comments on that it won't matter, he's gone. I'd still bet very comfortably that he's back. First, this whole fear of him getting a "max" offer I think is way overblown. you don't think other teams are seeing the same issues we're seeing this year with him kind of just being ok, nothing special? I can't see a team lining up to immediately hand him 4/135ish. Maybe a team after striking out on others would get desperate and give him something close, but if you're him do you want to wait around for two weeks on the 10ish FAs above him in pecking order and risk all that? Plus chances are you'll be going to a non contending team even if it does work. Is that all worth it just for an extra couple mil, when it might never even come. Next thing you know you're taking a KCP 1 year deal. Bledsoe just set a bit of a precedent as well, if the Bucks offer him 100 mil at 12:01 how does he turn it down? Heck, I think he'd take a bit less, put in the bank and go live it up for a month while knowing he has more money than he'll ever spend and is on a contender next to Giannis for the next several years. Someone commented on ego, there is literally nothing to support that notion. All the articles/comments he's pumped out the last few weeks around the ASB hype have said the exact opposite, and some behind the scenes stuff not seen before point to the opposite as well. Then combine it with what I and CHL have pointed out on the Cap stuff, if they let him go they can't replace him.
  20. I don't believe Middleton can even sign an extension right now by rules, could be wrong though on that. Chances are he turned one down in the offseason though, so he really shouldn't be pouty about that unless of course it was insultingly low.
  21. Except isn't that exactly what people are doing when they say they can't see it and therefore imply it's not there? Eyesight is not some subjective thing like intelligence. It's easily tested and objectively verifiable. I can't get over people trying to tell me that I don't see what I see just because they can't see it. No, they're saying they don't know one way or another as they can't tell and just eyeballing off TV is so hard. Whereas you're saying absolutely that you're right. But there is no way to prove to people online that you have some elite skill in this so it's pointless to try. Which is why it was mocked right away. Essentially, it should just be that in your opinion and best guess looking at pics/tv he could tone his body by 10-20 lbs and it would likely help him a bit as he ages. It's just impossible to prove it and for you to say proof is at that 'I'm awesome at it, trust me' just isn't gonna go very far. Maybe you pointing this out will make a few people look a bit closer though and come to the same conclusion, who knows. That's really all one can do.
  22. Yea I don't think the 'trust me I'm really good at this' argument is gonna go over to well on an internet message board, haha. this is just an unproveable thing from our perspective and all there is is best guess eye test on it. But yea, it's not crazy to look at Mid next to Bledsoe and Giannis and think that maybe he could tighten up the bod a bit and it could help his quickness. It's also to acknowledge we just don't know. Regardless, I think the point has been made and can moved onto something else. they just had two bad losses in a row blowing big late leads, which hasn't been a problem this year. which also opened back up home court to Tor. Can't let it be a trend, come out strong vs indy this week and lock up HC
  23. With Tomlin pretty much flopping I don't see the harm here on a very team friendly deal. Maybe be the Miley of last season. Could be a good depth guy. That said, I don't what can be done with his contract situation to be able to go up and down
  24. I mentioned this earlier too if people didn't know the story: https://www.stack.com/a/victor-oladipo-got-in-insane-shape-this-summer-now-hes-playing-like-a-superstar
