  1. [sarcasm]Nah, our guys are the worst. I see it here every year [/sarcasm]
  2. I'm fine with Hoover out over Drake. But really Drake has to go soon too, hate the Drake. Houser and Williams should be up over him and I don't even think it's close.
  3. Hold my beer ~Braun The most frustrating part with Arcia is we've all seen him succeed and what it looks like. He's nowhere close and seems to be trying to be something he's not. Just get hits. Even the game winner the other night was 4 balls 6 inches outside. Yup, Braun has been bad, especially for him and kind of the same funny coincidence with him. But at least he still has hit the occasional ball hard, got a few other hits, etc. Arcia has basically looked like a pitcher at the plate
  4. What's funny on Arcia is that he's hit terribly but two of his hits and then the walk last night were for game winning runs. Baseball is a weird game
  5. Assuming Cain is back tomorrow probably would've liked to see Braun play tonight and then have tomorrow off. Is what is, this is the type of game you can probably get a big payday betting MKE
  6. Remember a couple years ago when Votto started terribly. And it got into this type of talk and him saying he'd retire if he kept playing that way? Gotta love small samples.
  7. Not sure, that was a pretty shallow fly and I think it was a P running so probably held anyway. I haven't seen any news on Cain, has anyone else? Hopefully one day off and he's fine.
  8. And I feel like those number in rotation designations are a bit outdated in sticking to old norms of 15 years ago instead of the modern method of starting pitching. So few guys go past 6 innings regularly and get to 200 innings. So if you actually went through whole teams and the league and did the counting on starting pitching rankings you'd be surprised on a lot of things.
  9. The line about .500 until June is a good one to me. There's really not that many teams in the NL really with a shot in LAD, WAS, CHC, STL, MKE, AZ, Mets. Then your maybes like ATL and Col. so really 7-9 teams going for 5 spots. If you stay above .500 by then, you'll then get back Nelson and maybe get Burnes up. Knebel back, etc. Then other teams will fall off and you're right there at the end. We have a strong farm to make a move if it presents itself. The key to me is the offense, they added two great bats (granted one has been out) but the results have been the same. They have to be noticeably better than last year to make up for a regression from the starters which seems inevitable. BP looks great though, what a pleasant surprise. And think our whole pen probably costs less than Holland.
  10. I watched Turn when it first came out. Didn't do it for me and I am a history guy so it should have been right up my ally. I don't recall my issues but I tuned out late in season 1, maybe I watched the whole season but I don't think so
  11. I like him more than I do Keon. It's primarily because of the L/R. The other starting OFs are all righty (with Yelich out) already so that kind of makes the decision. I'd guess they also view him as better on D and more easily able to play all spots in the OF.
  12. PErez came in on D for the bottom of 9th over Braun. I know he's better on D but not sure I'd have done that with limited benches and one guy hurt already.
  13. If I remember Hader through some change ups on Friday, or at least one. It was days ago so I don't remember for sure
  14. Remember Arcia was brutal to start last year then was fine after. I mean, I agree he's looked awful and I always felt like his hot streak was fluky last year based on his swing and overall approach. I think he needs to rework a lot of things, but Trying to be positive.
  15. I generally agree. However, watching STL makes you appreciate milking the count and taking pitches, aka being a professional hitter. Sogard definitely has that aspect down, should be able to milk walks so if he can just poke through a enough hits he'd be a good counter to the free swingers, basically why we all liked the Walker so much.
  16. Of course Sale would be the dream scenario and very unlikely. Call it a poor man's version, whatever you like. But man it would be nice to have a legit ace level pitcher and his stuff is the closest chance we have. Throw in similar deliveries as Sale, similar path starting in the bullpen and it's just an obvious comparison. I know how good Sale is and how unlikely it is to get to that level. But I did call it a dream so...
  17. I'm not arguing if there is evidence to that, but there is evidence that changes like that happen after extended stretches like this. For me, assuming this keeps going on then I just don't see the harm in a fresh voice/eyes on things. I mean, it can't hurt. Besides that, I'd say that the fact that hitting coaches exist must mean they matter to some degree or at least management thinks it matters.
  18. How's the velocity? I saw some of one of their games, their team is really really bad and should have no chance this year so I'm sure he'll be a hot name at the deadline if he's around his career norms.
  19. Another variable is if/when the DH comes to the NL.
  20. I have dreams of Hader getting that start and never leaving the rotation and turning into Chris Sale. I think he pitched about 3 innings Friday and hasn't pitched since. Should be able to get 4-5 out of him if he's off until Wednesday. I know it's a pipe dream.
  21. Got it, Ryan Dempster did it too. Gave up 13 million. Sometimes I'm not crazy, ex Marlin close to Brad Penny, haha.
  22. Hmm, I certainly believe you but it definitely wasn't Penny. He was on a minor league seal when he retired. Google got me Gil Meche who did it in 2011 who gave up 12 mil. I don't think that's who I was thinking of, maybe I'll remember or maybe that's who it was.
  23. There was starting pitcher recently who forfeited his last year too of something like 10ish mil. Someone along the lines of a Brad Penney. Maybe not him, but someone similar and I'm pretty sure who at some point played for the Marlins.
  24. He has won two games already. Yesterday he had a perfect AB and smoked one to deep right on a line with runners on, without a gold glove RF in Hayward that's probably a double and two RBIs in a close game. And I remember one hotshot to the left side he hit on the button. To my eye test he's just simply been chasing too much crap in the dirt and he's not far off from being fine. Hopefully the bad eye at the plate doesn't continue, yea then he's probably in trouble.
