  1. If I read this correctly Thames is 254/373/916 vs RHP, pretty good. Vs LHP he's 180/270/686. Jesus is 308/375/913 vs LHP and 809 OPS vs RHP. Put them together and you have a heck of a 1B.
  2. Good point rcc, that mashfest at the beginning of the year was really fun and the players personalities made it a lot of fun. have to remember the good times.
  3. Nah it's good to be involved, have to embrace the stress of it. like the old better to have loved and lost than to never at all saying. As Badger fans my friends and all the painful last second or late losses in football my friends and I always used to say it would be better to just get beat soundly and not have pain of the close losses. Then 59-0 happened and we realized we were wrong.
  4. I doubt it. The Brewers have 7 remaining head to head games against the Cubs. Go 5-2 and things become very interesting. Moreover, the Brewers have a stretch coming up where 12 of 15 games are against the Reds, Pirates, Marlins. That said, the Brewers have 30 games remaining. To make the playoffs, I'll bet they need to go 22-8 or so. The 4 game dumpster fire against the Twins was not helpful. that and it's not like we really have anything to dump off. No one will want Garza. Braun obviously not. Our salary is so low there's no harm in keeping Walker and playing the year out. Cards just cleared like 40 Mil, there's nothing like that out there for MKE. I'm sure deep down management knows how low the odds are of making it, but really you've got nothing to lose by keeping to go for it and everything to gain. Great start though today. He'll settle in and get at least 6 innings with 3 runs or less.
  5. Yea I think this is a no brainer at this point. He pitched himself out of the rotation and the option in the offseason. Maybe you start him Sunday if the other guys aren't lined up, but have Suter ready to go when he falters or starts shaky. But that should be his last start. Suter, Jungman, Guerra and skipping the spot on with off days is the way to go. With bye days each of the next two weeks that should help and after that they'll have a pretty good idea where they're at in the standings and if still alive.
  6. I'd say a reasonable goal is to go undefeated regular season since they'll be favored in all games. 11 wins is a good expectation though since you can't expect undefeated, you'll slip up once. 10 wins in regular season would be a slight disappointment with this schedule unless of course they make up for it by winning the B1G title game.
  7. Sure, it's not guarantee but with Broxton cooled off it would have made sense to see if you could catch lightning in a bottle. And your best bet would be to do it right away rather than allowing to get rusty. And we all know how much Craiger loves to play the L/R matchups. That said, someone just posted that he's no longer 'hot' in CS so the point is moot.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if they give Phillips a lot of starts right when he comes up vs righties to try and ride his hot bat from AAA. Assuming anyway he's still been hitting well like all reports have said since he went down. Maybe it won't translate but sitting him right away could break his rhythm.
  9. I actually liked our colors. But really liked the Dodgers uniforms/colors.
  10. I'd guess they trade Broxton for the best they can get in the offseason. And #ownthefuture with Brinson/Phillips sharing CF and filling in for Braun's planned off days and inevitable stints on the DL. Unless a trade comes up, such as for a higher end SP, that would require using Phillips in the trade then they can keep Keon. I don't see that happening though.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Woodruff need to be up before Sept 1 to be post season eligible? I mean, if we're fancying making the playoffs we would go into expecting him as the #4 starter, which is needed if you make it past the WC round. So he'd need to be eligible
  12. Yea for sure. If they'd have gotten the 2 wins in SF then you just take your 1 in LA and call it a good enough trip. Now they need 2 in LA to make up for SF.
  13. I think it's still possible. Yea we're frustrated by the 2/3 at SF. But the team overall has been playing well since the MN dumpster fire. They're 3-3 on this trip and with LAD depleted a bit, need to find a way to get 2 there and absolutely no way they can allow a sweep. However, next week the Cubs continue with Pit/ATL while we get STL and WAS, so still in their favor. This 3ish lead could be 5-6 before we know it which makes it really tough. But with 7 games left vs them if you can hand around 3 then anything is possible. But they need something to start breaking their way pretty soon for that to happen.
  14. And please stop telling people that asking for small ball is wrong and that your opinion is right. In the playoffs you need to manufacture runs, your faces top pitching talent. Sure, ignore that math has proven this to be clearly incorrect. What good is to bunt guys into RISP if you can't get them in? That is the problem right now. They're getting plenty of hits and guys on base, just not delivering the big hits to get them in or sac flies when less than 2 outs. Giving away outs with bunts is not going to fix that. The math has proven this, it's not a debatable opinion, it is a fact. And I don't think people arguing with you is over different opinions or views. It's that you're nothing but negative and act like the team some godawful catastrophe. When in reality they've massively overachieved and still hanging in this thing with 5-6 weeks to go and are basically in every game until the end, almost never get blown out. If you can't enjoy any of that maybe it's best to be a bit less die hard or the stress will kill you. I guess they/me are just trying to say to ease of espn style overreactions, relax and remember it's a long season and enjoy it a little bit. We all have the same frustrations and see the same issues as you, some of it is just the ups and downs of a baseball season though.
  15. And please stop with the begging for bunts and small ball stuff. No one was complaining when that offense carried them the first half mashing everywhere. You don't need to 'manufacture' anything. You simply need to come up with hits in RISP, any hit.
  16. You can bash Counsell all you want, but who is he supposed to put in? No one is reliable besides Knebel and the new guy from the White Sox. Constantly here it's you can't put guy A in a close, you cna't put guy B, Guy C. He has to put someone in and has no good options. For the comebacks. I know the late game stats. But remember during the hot streaks at the beginning of the year? They'd bound back all the time. It was the funnest part of that time of the year. They'd blow a 4-0 early lead in the 5th or 6th inning, then come right back and take the lead again. It's simply the offense is not hot right now so this is all magnified. The pitching has been fine overall, need to get the runs anytime, not just in the 8th or 9th.
  17. Gotta try to make him Chris Sale first. If that doesn't work, then Miller.
  18. How about that. 5 innings and 1 run. Pitch count is low enough to give the 6th a try. Who'd have thunk that during the first. Top of the order up, get 2 on the board.
  19. Have yall missed that Villar has been hot lately? 284/350 this month and 392/433 since Aug 10. And I remember few good ABs/hits down lines that were just foul. I know the year has been awful but he's been fine of late yet and his approach has been better. At this point he needs to get a hit every time up though to satisfy people. Hopefully Garza has that out of the system and can get to 5 or 6 inning and just 2 or 3 runs, I'll take it.
  20. I hope not, that means we probably got creamed. Can't afford to give away games. I certainly would not have a long leash on him today with the off day tomorrow and the Dodgers looming. With Hader pitching yesterday the most likely multi inning route would be Drake?? Can't say I look forward to that option either...
  21. Garza to the 'DL' after this game until Sept and Woodruff up for the next turn in the rotation if this goes how it looks like it might right now
  22. Yea he's been a bit off the last few days. He would've destroyed that 10 days ago. Still not a fan of that extra day off vs Pit last week. He was smoking hot and then he only played 1 game in 4 days and hasn't been the same since. Whatever, i'm sure he was bound to cool regardless but hope that wasn't a factor in it... Nice job Shaw
  23. I was looking at Nelson, Anderson and Davies as the three "vets," with Woodruff and Hader as the guys who are ready to step in next year to fill out the rotation. We then have a lot of prospects who could be ready in the coming years, and as they push there way onto the MLB roster, they can allow us to trade guys like Nelson, Anderson and Davies as their "team control" starts to run out. Yup, that makes perfect sense. Davies is definitely locked in as of now and is finishing strong but still overall hasn't been great this year and relied on the offense to bail him out. I guess I'm just saying I'll believe it when I see it that all these guys pan out, sure hope that's the case but our history makes me pessimistic. Very good problem to have if it happens, just saying it's too early to start planning as if we have too many SPs. Scenarios similar to this could easily happen: Hader can't hack it as starter and goes BP route, one or two of the other 4 guys has TJ or just regresses/flops and you only have 2-3 reliable guys. Then we're hoping like heck guys like Ortiz and Burnes pan out to replace those guys. Throw in that with the 10 day DL teams are going to be needing a 6th pitcher a lot as they game that system to give some extra time off. That of course along with your normal injuries that make it rare to only need 5 guys and I want to hold as many as we can.
